It was dark. The moon had hidden itself for the night as if finally sensing the danger Kagome had been feeling these past few nights. The feeling of something horrid was coming and it woke the 12-year-old from her sleep. The fifth time this night. Noises. Moaning, yelling, creaking noises filled the once quiet house. She clung to the sheets scared but curios. What was it and why was it making such sounds. It came again and again louder by the second. This time she was going to find out. Put fear aside and come face to face with her torturer. This would be the last time, last night; she wakes up in a cold sweat.
Slowly she uncovered herself and ever so quietly got out of bed. She looked around. No way was she going to see what was going on without something to protect her. But she found nothing, well nothing good anyways. All that she could use was the kitty lamp on her side dresser. She unplugged it and headed for the door. Yelling got louder it seemed as she placed her hand at the doorknob. She paused for a second gaining courage to move forward when she heard it. Her mommy's dying scream. She threw open the door just in time to see her mother hit the floor. Kagome, mind blank, ran to her mothers now lifeless body. Tears engulfing her as she looked up. Her torturer…she blanked.
“Your nothing…just like your mother Kikyo.”
It hurt. Everything seems to hurt. Her body seemed to be on fire. Where was she? She couldn't think. Her eyes couldn't open, wouldn't open. Pain was too much. How she gets this pain? She couldn't remember. Didn't want to remember. She tried to move. More pain. Unbearable pain! Her eyes shot open mouth wide as she screamed her agony. Cruel punishment for her dumb movement. A mouth covered her lips. She panicked, lashed out.
“ What the fuck are you doing do you want us both dead?” A voice. This one was different then the last. Long black hair seemed to entangle her. Grey eyes slowly calming her.
“ Where are we?”
“ Somewhere safe. Somewhere away from…”
“ Mommy?”
“…go to sleep. Everything will be better in the morning.”
Who was it? Who was this person? She had never seen him before. She couldn't see him completely. It was still too dark. Moon still playing hide and seek as mommy said. Mommy used to say. Pain seemed to increase as time went by. Darkness slowly overwhelming her and yet she was safe. Felt safe.
