*Chapter Seventeen: Where Did You Go*
"Inu Yasha, you can't leave the hospital until the doctors discharge you!" Inu Yasha snorted, "Feh. I'll get better on my own!" I shoved Inu Yasha back on the bed, "Oh no you don't! You need to rest, and you need to take your medicine." Inu Yasha whined like a little boy, "But I'm okaaaay!" I smiled, "Too bad. Because you're not okay. Now, rest!" Inu Yasha huffed and closed his eyes, "It's not fair. This hospital reeks of disinfectants and I can hardly breathe as it is." I sighed, "That's the point of being in the hospital. Since you can hardly breathe, they'll make you get better. So please, put up with it for a few more days." Inu Yasha rolled his eyes, "Fine. Only because you asked me to." I smiled, "Good. I have to go home for now, I have a test tomorrow I have to study for." Inu Yasha glared at me, "Another one of those 'tests'? You still haven't given me a full explanation as to what those 'tests' are." I stuck out my tongue as I opened the door, "Maybe later." Inu Yasha sat up, "Hey!" I shut the door behind me and laughed. Inu Yasha can be so funny sometimes.
The house seemed really quiet. Souta told me earlier that he'd be at a friend's house, and mom is out shopping. I walked into the kitchen, "Tatsuya?" That's funny. Tatsuya went home last night after he came back from the hospital. Something on the table caught my eye. It was a note written in Tatsuya's messy scrawl:
Kagome,
Thanks a lot for everything. I'm glad I met you. You were a great friend and you accepted me for who I was. But, I can't stay in your house anymore. I'm leaving. I'm going to get my own place and find a job. I hope Inu Yasha recovers well. Goodbye Kagome.
~Love, Tatsuya.
Tears welled up in my eyes immediately. Tatsuya left. Where? He didn't even leave a phone number, and address, anything! I grabbed the phone and called the number to Inu Yasha's room at the hospital. It dialed four time before it stopped. Inu Yasha didn't answer. I tried again. Three rings later I heard Inu Yasha, "H-hello?" I screamed, "Inu Yasha!" "Gaaah! Don't scream in my ear wench! What the hell happened, you sound like you're panicking!" "Tatsuya, he's gone!" Inu Yasha shouted, "What!? I told him-" "What did you tell him!? Don't tell me you told him to leave!" Inu Yasha stammered a bit, "I-I didn't tell him anything! He was telling me he was going to leave! I told him not to go! He wouldn't-" Inu Yasha started coughing. I said, "Calm down! Don't yell, you're hurting yourself!" Inu Yasha whispered, "I'll be there in a little bit." Before I could say anything, I heard the receiver fall to the floor.
Inu Yasha slammed the door open, "Any luck?" I shook my head, "I called his grandfather and my mother. They haven't seen him." Tears streamed down my face. Inu Yasha pulled me into his arms and whispered, "We'll find him. We'll bring him back." I shook my head, "No. I just want to know why. If he really wants to leave, let him leave. I just need to know why." Inu Yasha nodded and swept me up into his arms as he leapt out the door.
"I can't sniff him out! How could he just block his scent like that!?" Inu Yasha was getting impatient. He couldn't find Tatsuya. I bit my lip, "Inu Yasha, maybe he really did want to go." Inu Yasha cursed under his breath, "That bastard. I told him not to go!" The look in his eyes kept me from asking how he knew Tatsuya wanted to leave. Inu Yasha jumped up into a tree and put me down on a branch. He grabbed his chest and winced. "Inu Yasha, you shouldn't have left the hospital!" Inu Yasha wheezed, "I'll be okay. Give me a minute to catch my breath." Suddenly my cell phone rang. I answered it, "Hello?" "Kagome! It's Tatsuya!" Inu Yasha's ears perked up. He could hear the phone. "Mom! Where is he!?" Inu Yasha snatched the phone from me, "Where the hell did he go!?" I took the phone back. Mom said, "Actually, I'm near your school. Hurry over here and you might be able to catch him!" "Thanks mom." I hung up my cell phone. Inu Yasha picked me up, "Let's go."
At the school, mom ran up to us, "Kagome! I tried to talk to him. He just said he had to leave." I scanned the sidewalk and the streets. Tatsuya just turned the corner. Inu Yasha sprinted after him. Mom frowned, "What's going on? Tatsuya's leaving for some reason, and Inu Yasha escaped from the hospital. Is he well?" I shook my head, "I told him Tatsuya left and he came before I could stop him." Just then, I heard a muffled yell from around the corner. Inu Yasha leapt above the building with a struggling body locked in his arms. When he landed in front of me, Inu Yasha smirked, "Bastard thinks he can get away from me, eh?" He dropped Tatsuya on the ground.
Tatsuya groaned as he tried to get up. I felt the tears well up in my eyes, "Tatsuya, why did you leave?" Tatsuya turned his head away. He didn't answer. Inu Yasha growled, "Pathetic. If you're going to leave, you can at least tell her why!" Tatsuya kept his head low, "I can't stay here." I asked, "Why? Just leaving like you did! With out even saying goodbye!" "I need to find out what to do from here. I can't continue living here with you. I have to be on my own and figure out who I am." Inu Yasha folded his arms and sighed, "How do you plan on doing that? From what I know about this era, you need money to earn a living. You can't just wander around and live off the land like in the feudal era. You have no money, nowhere to go. It's best to just stay here." Tatsuya got up slowly and faced me, "I'm sorry Kagome. I'm leaving, and I don't want you to try and stop me. Please, don't make it worse than it already is." He gave a weak smile before he turned and leapt away. "Tatsuya!" He didn't look back.
I fell to my knees and broke down. I couldn't stop crying. Tatsuya just left! Why did he want to leave so badly? Inu Yasha knelt down beside me and hugged me, "Give him some time alone. He needs it anyway." He lifted me up carefully. Mom put her hand on my shoulder, "He'll be back soon. He just wants to think things over for a while. He's been through so much already." It's true. His past was horrible, nobody liked him. He moved here and gets mixed up with me. Now he's become a hanyou against his will. I just hope he really will come back.
*Chapter Seventeen End*
InvincibleInuYasha: Damn! That's probably one of the shortest chapters I've ever written! Well, with all of the writer's blocks I can't get much done, plus, Tatsuya is gone! Don't worry, next chapter will still be Tatsuya's PoV. Next chapter: Getting to Know Myself. Hope ya like it! :) REVIEW! Ja ne!
