Chapter Two: Secret

"Damn, how could I lose the princess!? Inuyasha…"

Following their scents, Sesshoumaru beat himself up for letting Naeomi get taken.

"All you have to do is give us the shard, wench!!"

Breathing hard, Naeomi curled up on the ground. Why…why can't they see I don't have it? Help me…

"Inuyasha… she looks terrified. Maybe we shouldn't yell at her. Miss? Can you hear me? I'm sorry about my friend. We need the shard, that's all. Will you give it to us?" Kagome smiled at her.

Covering her head with her arms, the Hime hoped eventually they would leave. I doubt it, though…

"Princess!" Sesshoumaru had finally caught up to the others. "Are you alright?" Quickly, Naeomi ran to him. Blood was still slowly dripping from her arm, and it stung from the dirt that had ground into it.

"You stupid half-breed. Did you think I would just sit around and wait for you to bring her back?"

"I didn't expect you to actually care."

"For your own safety, I suggest you keep away from her." Jumping up behind her on Ah-Un, Sesshoumaru quietly flew away.

"Damn! She got away!" Inuyasha growled.

"It was a bit unusual for Sesshoumaru to have followed us just to get the princess back. He didn't even mention Tetsusaiga." Miroku wondered out loud. "What was that all about…"

The two demons said nothing while Sesshoumaru cleaned and dressed Naeomi's wound.

"Your father doesn't expect us for a few more days. Go and get some sleep." He moved a few feet away, against a tree, and closed his eyes.

Blushing and looking around, Naeomi sat beside him. I'd rather embarrass myself than sit alone…what if those people come back? She looked up at the man next to her. He's already asleep…did fighting that hanyou tire him that much? Look at all those scratches he has…

Leaning onto his chest, she was just about to drop off when a strange sound reached her ears. He's…purring? No, it's too loud…both of us, then? Then Sesshoumaru's tail wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. Once he placed his chin on the top of her head, she was positive her face was glowing. And yet she made no effort to get away. This is kind of…nice. It's warm, so I'll let him for tonight…

"There's no way we can get the shard from her when they're tangled up like that. Although, this is excellent blackmail material." Inuyasha flashed an evil grin.

"I thought only cats purred, Sango."

"Apparently not, Kagome. They're purring away over there."

"It's a bit disappointing she has her clothes on…"

"You lecher!!" Sango added another bump to the one Miroku already had for spying on her in the hot spring.

He woke up first. Naeomi…how did we get like this?! Damnit, I don't want to move her while she's sleeping. Lightly touching her shoulder, he called her name.

Hm…oh! Okayasu-sama's awake! She bolted upright and turned red again. Bowing apologetically, she started to move away. Sesshoumaru gripped her arm, stopping her.

What am I doing? Stop it before it gets any farther!! His body was long past the point of listening to his mind, though. Giving her some time to stop him, he kissed her firmly.

I should stop him…but I don't want to… Opening her mouth for him, she wrapped her free arm around his neck.

"Wait…" Sesshoumaru gently sat her on his lap. "You know you're getting married. We shouldn't be doing this at all."

But I want to! I don't care what happens…I have to make him understand. She prepared herself to speak. Curiously, Sesshoumaru wondered what she was up to.

"O-okayasu-sama… can't it be a secret?" she managed. "Just between you and me?"

She…she spoke to me?! Sesshoumaru looked at her with wide eyes.

"Please…" she whispered. Smiling, he nodded and pulled her face up to his.

"It's as I thought, then." Naraku waved Kanna away.

"Where are you taking me?"

"Keep your eyes closed. You'll see."

"Not if my eyes are shut!"

"Open them."

Naeomi gasped at the large castle in front of her. "It's beautiful! Is it yours?"

"Yes. We're in the Western Lands now. This is where I live most of the time." He watched Naeomi slowly walk toward the gates. "You seem to like it."

"There aren't many people here. Do you live alone?"

"Hai." He headed over to Ah-Un. "Your father is expecting you back tomorrow. We should go."

"Hime! Did you like being outside for a few days?" Lord Ceres took his daughter's hand. Smiling widely, Naeomi nodded.

Why didn't she speak to her father?

"Princess. May I have a word with you?" Kagawaki appeared, frowning a bit more than usual.

"So… you like that dog better than me? You wish to be with him?"

How did he find out?

"I will forgive this… infidelity… and Sesshoumaru may speak to you, even. However, if this happens again, I may not be so kind. And I will find out."

She shook her head yes, tears flowing freely. I hate you. I will find some way to be with Sesshoumaru. He will be my mate.

Ceres watched Sesshoumaru and Kagawaki, growling. They aren't good enough for my daughter. There is only one…
