Inuyasha was beyond ready to rip someone’s head off. Kagome hadn’t brought him lunch; in fact he hadn’t seen her at all today! Sango had told him she would be down later that night; she wanted to make sure Mistress wouldn’t get suspicious. I need her now! He thought enraged by the fact his bitch ex was keeping Kagome from him by using simple mind games. “Keh, leave it to fucking humans to not play fair, and to think, they used to call me the monsters.” He growled as he looked down his legs to the chains on his ankles.
“Hey, I resent that remark.” Miroku said as he stepped off the staircase. Inuyasha glared up at him. “There are a few exceptions.” The hanyou finally conceded. “I see, well, I’m sure you are wondering why I’m here now.” Inuyasha looked up at him blandly, “I don’t really care honestly.” He answered. The monk rolled his eyes and crouched in front of the man, “even if it concerns Kagome?” Inuyasha was on his feet in an instant. “Did that bitch hurt her? Where is she?” His eyes flashed to red and Miroku sighed loudly, “stop panicking, she’s fine!” The boy collapsed back to his previous position. “So where is she?”
“Coming soon, with Sango.” Inuyasha tilted his head at the odd statement, “are you three going to kill me?” The question was asked in jest but Miroku could sense the honesty underneath. “No, how could you think Kagome would allow us to do that?” Inuyasha held his hands up before leaning his head back against the wall. “I am the reason she hasn’t come today.” The boy’s head moved and angry golden eyes locked on royal purple. “What the hell do you mean?”
“I’ll explain when they arrive.”
“You better, bastard.”
Miroku sat back and crossed his legs, beginning to meditate and Inuyasha found the position irritating. The monk looked so calm and he felt so… He couldn’t pin point just one emotion.
Just as he was about to shout or try and strike the monk the scent of roses filled his nose and he almost groaned in pleasure. The girl that had been running through his mind all day emerged from the shadows like an angel and he couldn’t stop his body’s response.
She walked over and sat beside him, barely reacting when he immediately pulled her into his lap. He buried his nose into her hair and inhaled deeply, feeling his body relax, all the stress melting away. Sango cleared her throat loudly. Kagome looked over at her while a single golden eye peeked from the curtain of raven colored hair.
“Inuyasha we kept Kagome away because we have all been worried about what Mistress Kikyo will do to her if she realizes exactly how much she means to you.” The eye narrowed and it didn’t take a genius to figure out he was glaring and about to deny the claim. “Don’t try and deny it, we can tell.” The eye continued to glare. Miroku sighed before an argument could erupt. “Listen to me carefully.” Kagome blinked and leaned forward ignoring the hanyou’s growl. “I went and talked to the villages elder, that is why I’ve been absent.” Kagome nodded and noticed Sango was listening aptly as well. “I have told her of everything I have seen and heard from everyone.” He inclined his head to the couple. “About you two.” A blush spread over Kagome’s cheeks but all that could be seen of Inuyasha was his eye. “She was intrigued by my information.” He touched his fingertips together and looked between Inuyasha and Kagome, “when I told her of your,” his eyes locked on Inuyasha’s single visible one, “apparent attachment to you,” he looked up at Kagome, “she said that is unusual especially considering the circumstances.” He held his hands up indicating the dungeon. “She also seems to think you both hold a dormant power inside you both. She believes that the instantaneous connection between you both is because of this power and the fact one needs the other to function.” A deep chuckle against Kagome’s back caught her attention. Miroku made a questioning noise and Inuyasha rose from Kagome’s neck meeting the monks gaze over Kagome’s head.
“I’m surprised you two haven’t noticed what the power in Kagome is.” He laughed out loud yet it held no humor. “What do you mean Inuyasha?” Sango asked. “Our girl is a miko, that’s why it’s funny to me. My inner power is my demonic blood, how on earth can our power function together? Her power is used to trump mine!” He laughed again. “I’m sure the village elder would have been more careful with her explanation if she sensed just that. I’m not sure what she was talking about and that was the only explanation she wouldn’t go into details after that, just said to watch you both, that the power would bloom in time.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes before burying his face back into her neck. “Crazy old hag.” He muttered. Kagome nudged him with her elbow and muttered, “be nice.” He huffed against her neck causing chills to run down her arms. “She also thinks that if anyone can free us,” the girls grew tense and focused their complete attention on the monk, “it will be him.” Inuyasha opened his eye and saw the monk looking at him. The hanyou sighed and nuzzled into Kagome’s neck. Free them? I want to but… how can I do that? “You okay?” Kagome asked quietly, her hand coming up to cup his face. He nodded and leaned into her palm. Keh, I’m Inuyasha, I’ll fucking find a way to free us all and take this girl as my mate. The thought normally made him wince or shudder but tonight, after the events of the day, with her scent against his nose and her warm body in his lap, it just seemed fitting.
Sango and Miroku stood, “we’ll leave you two alone. Kagome, don’t be down here to long okay?” Sango said. He felt the girl nod and held her tighter. The couple left a few moments later leaving the hanyou and miko to their selves.
(Is this a cruel cliffhanger or what? I promise more!)
