To The Gods
It all started in this cold chamber where she presently stood. The only light to be seen was emitting from a barred window set high in the stone wall. The wind whipped outside, and the cries of a distant thunder storm could be faintly heard.
If you ask Kagome how the hell she got here, she would flip you the bird and sarcastically ask you the same question. She’s scared out of her wits, and with no memory, no comforts, and no one to help, she was lucky to be able to remember her own name.
She felt like a new born kitten while taking in her surroundings, or lack thereof. The only object for her viewing pleasure was a slightly ajar door, adding to the creepy effect.
‘Where am I?’
Taking the only option she had, her feet started the trek towards the door. With this Kagome unknowingly sealed her fate.
The walls seemed to close in around her as she took her first step into the dark tunnel. Within seconds, light poured onto her from the exit, and it gave her a chance to notice her apparel.
She wore a long skirt, slit to the waist on both sides. Kagome didn’t think she was a conservative person, but this struck her as strange. She wore no top, but instead had heavy, low strung necklaces to cover her breasts. Her arms and wrists also bore sparkly jewelry. She noticed with a slight alarm that her arms were marred with what seemed like old cuts and burn scars… more than she could count.
‘D –did... did I do this to myself? What is going on?’
By this time, Kagome was at the end of the tunnel. She peered out through the crack in the door, and was surprised to find a large room full of people dressed similar to how she was. When she listened closer, she could make out a language she understood… but was oblivious as to how. The voices sounded like grunts and snarls. A faint voice could be heard in the back of her mind translating each syllable into a word she understood. Her mind tingled with confusion.
Torches on the wall lit these unfamiliar faces for her to see. Some had wooden pieces unprofessionally placed through their ears and nose, other had scars resembling the moon and the stars on their bodies. Kagome took all this in and was majorly shocked as these people sat on the floor and silenced, then turned to look at her.
It was all she could do to stare back and not scream.
Kagome felt a sudden rush of memories hit her: potions, remedies, spells, incantations… but no people. Not one face rested in her memory, no love from another person could she remember.
Feeling more alone that she had in the past three minutes, she pushed the door open and took a step out into the room.
Voicing her opinion seemed to be the best option at the moment, so she opened her mouth to speak… and nothing. She tried again, and then strange words shot from her throat into an awkward silence. She didn’t know how she knew what to say, these words didn’t match the ones in her head. She had meant to say, “Who am I, “but instead it sounded like an agitated bark. She felt as if a different part of her throat was being used than what should have been. The words seemed to take effect; her audience started grumbling and others slapped the floor.
‘Oh dear… What have I done now?’
Kagome could make out the silhouette of a tall man get up in the back, and walk to a torch on the wall. The shadow grabbed it, and then proceeded to throw it on the floor, resulting in a line of fire shooting around the room. This brought to light the paintings and inscriptions on the wall, the horrifying murals that seemed to give instructions on killing and giving offerings to supreme beings. This also brought a tingling feeling to her mind, and down through her body.
Kagome began to speak up again, when an arm snaked around her waist. Being as ruffled as she already was, it took a few seconds to register.
She turned and opened her mouth to yell, but her anger fell short when her eyes met deep, golden orbs. His face looked young and youthful, but his eyes held knowledge of years beyond his time. Silvery hair was pulled into a high pony tail, Kagome noticed, and his lips had two silver piercings. She instinctively knew this to be a sign of power. The tingling was getting worse.
While Kagome was taking in his godlike body, with muscles that begged to be touched and admired, he was leading her towards the front of the room.
She stopped drooling and looked up to a grand Altar, which she surprisingly hadn’t noticed during her first scan of the room. Beautiful candles surrounded it in golden fixtures, and her stomach seemed to remember something that she did not, for it started to churn. Kagome may not have remembered any people skills, but she knew that the only things she could rely on for sure were her instincts.
She planted her feet on the floor and stood her ground, signifying that she was going nowhere without an explanation. The Adonis beside her took her hand in his, arm tightening around her waist, and pulled her up two steps. Kagome once again stopped all movement that she could and glared at him, but to no avail. He continued his pull, so she started to kick and scream, pulling away from his unrelenting grip. The crowd she had forgotten cheered, made guttural noises, and seemed to enjoy her rebellion.
The man who looked down on her seemed to have a different opinion entirely, and his composure turned completely animalistic. It was only now that she noticed his dog ears which pulled back when he snarled at her. He jerked her to him in one swift motion, and latched his teeth to her neck. They were so sharp. Claws that she also hadn’t noticed were beginning to rip into her flesh, adding to her collection of scars she was sure, and she could feel warm trails making their way down her body. The chest against hers had started to make a gentle rumbling sound, but it did nothing to calm her like it was intended. She trembled violently.

‘I think I’m going to die…’
