Sango petted Kirara, thinking of how she was going to tell Miroku good-bye. Kohaku, finally, had his memories restored, so Sango would be making up for lost times.
She would not be coming back. Ever.
As if on cue, a certain Buddhist monk strolled over and sat next to the exterminator. They sat in silence for a while. Miroku ran his hand lightly ran his hand over the grass, all the while the hand getting closer to Sango’s hand. Sango noticed this.
“Don’t even think about it, monk…”
He looked at Sango with a genuine look of innocence. “I wasn’t going to…do anything.”
Sango sucked in a deep breath for courage. “Miroku?”
His blue eyes turned to her. “Yes, my Sango?”
Okay, he’s not making this any easier for me, Sango thought before starting.
“I-Kohaku…his memories…they are restored,” Sango’s eyes filled with tears. Why is this so hard to say? “I’m…I’m leaving.”
Miroku wiped away Sango’s falling tears with his thumb. He paid no attention to his own eyes beginning to water.
“Are you…is it…for good?” Miroku helped Sango stand. Sango nodded in response. “Well…will we ever see each other again?”
“I d-don’t know, Miroku.” Sango wrapped her arms around Miroku’s waist and buried her head into his neck. Miroku rested his hands on Sango’s back, for once not doing anything lecherous.
“With that said,” He whispered, “I have something that I have wanted to tell you for…well, for a long time.”
Sango looked up. Her eyes were red and puffy. It was undoubtedly the most unattractive state that she’s ever been in. Not to Miroku, though. “What is it?”
Miroku was now scared for Sango’s reaction. “I-um-I-Sango, I-” He finally just blurted it out, able to suffer the consequences. “I love you, Sango!”
Sango’s grin looked like it was too big for her face. She didn’t answer him right away. In fact, Sango stayed, looking up at Miroku, for a full thirty seconds before she answered him. I can’t hide my feelings any longer…
“I love you too, Miroku.”
Miroku smiled and pulled Sango to his lips. They kissed for a long time.
They were so…busy…that they didn’t notice Kagome and InuYasha watching them from their hiding spot. They looked at each other, then looked away at the same time, blushing. Shippo rolled his eyes. Meanwhile…
Sango and Miroku pulled away at the same time, breathing heavily.
Finally, “I know what will guarantee that we’ll be together forever…” Miroku said.
“What? Please tell me! Surely it’s better than me leaving,” Sango replied hopefully.
“I would like it-and have wanted for a long time-” Miroku paused for a dramatic effect, “Sango, love of my life…will you do me the honors of being my wife? Kohaku can live with us if you would like. If you say yes, of course.”
Sango looked away, pretending to consider the offer, even though she already knew what her answer was. She then saw InuYasha, with Kagome and Shippo on his back, running towards them. When they got there, Miroku was still staring at Sango intently.
Suddenly, Kagome screamed, “Sango, come on! You love him! Say yes!”
She sounded like it was Miroku asking her to marry him. InuYasha and Shippo nodded.
“How did you…?”
“InuYasha does have super hearing…” Kagome answered. She gave Sango an encouraging smile.
Sango nodded and turned to an anxious looking Miroku. Hey, you would be too…
“Miroku…you are a nice guy, even if you are a letch…“ Miroku sagged his shoulders. She was rejecting him. “Which is all the more reasons why I would love to be your wife!” Sango squealed.
Miroku smiled widely and kissed Sango. They both knew that they would be happy for the rest of their lives.

Author's note: That was kind of sappy, but don't worry, not all of my stories are like that! Read and Reveiw please! Also, tell me if I should do a sequel or not...
