Together Forever

 

 

 

 

“I've had better times than this. Right now all I want to do is to stay in my house, cry and remember of one of the few people that made me the being I am today but I cannot. I need to be here. I need to be strong. I have to be strong fore there was one other person who was suffering so much more than me- Ojii-chan. Being the alpha male, I knew he would not break down because that was just not him. I knew he felt he needed to be there for the family he created but I could see it in his eyes that he couldn't handle it anymore. Even though you knew the inevitable event was going to happen at any giving moment would it still be a big shock to you if it finally came true? Well for me and everyone else yesterday was that inevitable day.”

 

 

 

 

*****LATE YESTERDAY NIGHT*****

 

 

“Inuyasha, come over here, sit next to me,” said the weak fragile girl. She lay in her bed that she shared with her mate; that bed that held her lover close to her at night, that bed that she shared with her pups when they came running to her when they had a nightmare. Even though the body that lay on the bed looked cold, weak, and old it still possessed that burning passion and soul she always had. She still had those eyes that even to this day grew with wisdom but as her lover, her life, her mate came up to her she noticed that he couldn't look directly into her eyes. As he finally made his way to her bed he stopped and just stood there. He didn't know what possessed him to stand up since he felt no strength in him.

 

“Inuyasha, I love you so much.”

 

“Kagome, don't…don't say that. Only puny weak humans start talking like that when…when…,” said the girl other half. One of the many things he will always love about her is her spunk, her strength she possessed that she didn't even acknowledge she had but he certainly did. To this day he still didn't know what possessed Kami to bless him with this much love. He felt as if he didn't deserve it but even to this day Kagome showed him otherwise.

 

“My love, you know that it is time for me to finally be healed from this cancer. I am so blessed to have you in my life. Your love for me is what made me whole. I wouldn't have been the woman I am today if it wasn't for you. You let me experienced trust, friendship, happiness, and most of all love. I don't know what I did to deserve a person like you. I am so happy I got to live my life with you.”

 

Inuyasha couldn't handle it anymore. What ever strength he had in him a moment ago left him like a cold shill on a summer's day. He lowered his head and fell to the floor. After all this time he still couldn't understand why such a wonderful person like her would choose a low life, half-breed liked him. No one had accepted him but she did. He couldn't help but raise his head and screamed back, “Baka! I should be the one grateful to have you in my life- he lowered his head. After all this time I still do not understand why you chose to live your life with me; to chose to become my mate and become the mother of my...our pups. I don't know why you chose me to love but I am so happy that you did. Your love for me is what made me a better being. I was just a pup when we first met but you made me the male I am today. There is nothing in this world I would trade it with. Kagome, I love you.”

 

“Oh Inuyasha, please don't be upset. I am happy that I lived my life the best way I could have. There is nothing else I would trade it with either. Remember, I will always be there for you. All you got to do is just look at the stars and I'll be there watching over you. I will always love you, Inuyasha,” said an almost crying Kagome as she was holding back her tears and caressing his damp cheek.

 

Inuyasha placed his hand on top of hers while it caressed his cheek and leaned into the touch savoring every touch, every feeling he had for this woman and whispered “My love.”

 

After a couple of shallow breathes had passed from the girl laying on the bed he felt her hand go weak on him, possessing no strength in it whatsoever and that is when he felt his heart stop. That was it and he knew it. He had just heard her last breath, her last glowing life blowing out of her, leaving him with just a hollow body across in front of him.

 

“MY LOVE,” he whispered as he kept her hand to his cheek wanting to savor the last warmth she produced for him. He raised his head and with his bangs crossing his eyes that anyone could clearly see his tears running down his cheek and howled to the moon as his emotions came upon him full throttle.

 

 

*****PRESENT MORNING*****

 

One by one every single pup slowly opened the door and entered the empty looking room; each giving Inuyasha a hug and then went to Kagome. Each one of them had tears in their eyes and was heartbroken to say goodbye to the one of the most important loving person they had to call family. Inuyasha stood in the far right hand corner watching his pups leaning down on the floor, kissing Kagome's hand and giving her a slight hug. As the last pup cried, Chiori, left the room Kisho, Inuyasha's first son- his, one of many, pride and joy for being the first of the outcome of his and Kagome's love entered the room and stood next to his father trying to be as strong as he could at the moment. Kisho couldn't help but look through the corner of his eye as he stood next to his Ojii-chan. Inuyasha stood straight up looking across at Kagome's body. He had on his red Hitoe with the usual Kosode underneath with the matching Hakama that he hasn't worn for centuries. He had decided that after the nineteenth century it was time for a change so he gave up his usual clothing for a more formal up-to-date looking wardrobe but today was different. He wanted to do something that reminded him of the good times he shared with her.

 

“Ojii-chan, what are you wearing?” asked Kisho.

 

“This is what I used to wear when I first met your Obaa-san. Sit down with me; I want to talk to you.”

 

“Sure.”

 

“I want you to hear out how I finally become one with your mother. Here, this is a note your Obaa-san wrote to me a long time ago. My time was so different from yours. I grew up in a dangerous time of demons and struggles. They didn't accept me for who I was because of my demon blood. After my mother died they tried to kill me but I outran them. I remember running so fast and so far but still they didn't leave me alone. After a while I finally lost them but after that day I decided that I needed to take care of myself and that I should relay on nobody and that is what I did until the day I met her. She taught me to trust people; she taught me that I deserve friendship and most of all she taught me to love. Two years had past and it was one of the most important days of my life.”

 

 

 

I read a note my grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat and he showed it once to me
He said boy you might not understand
But a long, long time ago
Grandma's daddy didn't like me none
But I loved your grandma so

 

 

“We finally defeated the one nightmare that tried to destroy my life and Kagome's as well as my friends. I remember on that night we celebrated for hours and that night was the best night I ever had- the night your Obaa-san and I finally accepted each other. See, your Obaa-san had thought that my heart belonged to another and I just felt like she deserved better than me. She didn't need a low class anybody as her mate.

 

“But Ojii-san you are good, you are worth all the good things in life. When did you finally decided to become mates?”

 

“I was sitting near the beach just thinking how blessed I was to have met a girl like Kagome. I was so into thinking about Kagome and my mother that I didn't sense her coming from behind, approaching me.

 

*****Memory of Reveal*****

 

“Inuyasha…”

 

“Kagome, what are you doing here? How did you find me?” said Inuyasha as he made a half turn while still sitting down on the sand.

 

“It wasn't hard you know. I just had to follow the broken tree branches that led me straight to you,” said the vibrant brunette wearing her usual green school outfit.

 

“Oh…” was his only reply.

 

“What's the matter Inuyasha? Ever since we brought down Naraku something has been different about you. Is it about…Kikyo? Are you having second thoughts about going to hell?” she said after a good minute in a low whisper afraid of what would be the answer.

 

“NO, KAGOME!!! That's not it... she is in my past now…you are my future…” he said after a while wanting to reveal his feelings for a while now.

 

“Inuyasha…are you trying to tell me…”

 

“Kagome…I love you,” he finally spilled out.

 

“OH! INUYASHA!” screamed a very happy girl who dived into the very scared hanyous' arms. It had startled him at first but slowly he wrapped his arms around her lovely small frame loving how she smelled, loving her soul, loving her.

 

“Inuyasha, I was so scared that you were going to say goodbye to me! I don't know what I would have done if you would have decided to go off into hell with Kikyo, but when you didn't and she left this world alone I thought you would have come after me. When you didn't I thought it was because you simply didn't want a weak girl like me,” whispered Kagome as she tucked her face more into his chest but Inuyasha pulled Kagome away from his body which startled her.

 

“Kagome, do you understand what I am saying to you when I say I want to become your mate? It means a lifetime. I will perform the blood bond which means that you will have my lifespan. It will not immune you from everything but it will help you have better health. There is also no separation from mating and not everyone will agree with us for becoming mates. After my father died everyone treated me and my mother bad. They had started calling her names and treated her as she was some kind of sinner. All she did was loved my father and me but because of what I am they didn't accept her. I do not want the same thing that happen to her to happen to you.”

 

“Inuyasha, I love you. No matter what I will always be with you. I would love to become your mate. What people think of me does not matter to me, it will never change my opinion about you, and no one could do that.”

 

“I do love you Kagome,” whispered the hanyou as he stared at her eyes and very slowly leaned down to give her a passionate, loving kiss. I love you Kagome could be heard repeatedly as he pushed her down gently onto the sand as they made love for the first time that night.

 

By this time Inuyasha had a slight smile on his face for the first time in a long time as he remembered that passionate night he spent with her for the first time and how she kept repeating to him how much she loved him. As he was getting his senses back he looked at his grandson and saw that his face was red from embarrassment.

 

“There is no need to be embarrassed, baka! How do you think you father came into this world!” chuckled Inuyasha as he clearly addressed the point out to his grandson.

 

“I know but I don't need to be remembered about it! Keep going on. I wanna' hear the whole story,” said Kisho.

 

“Well it was the next morning and we were walking back to the village when Kagome turned and stood in front of me.”

 

*****Memory of Marriage*****

 

“What's the matter Kagome.”

 

“Inuyasha, I am very happy that we are mates but I would really love it if we had a marriage ceremony back in my time so my family won't be left out. Do you think we could go back today and get started on it,” said Kagome nervously in which he could smell the emotion radiating lightly from her.

 

“Kagome, I would love to properly marry you,” said Inuyasha as he raised his hands and cupped her cheeks. He leaned in and kissed her fully on the lips.

 

“Thank you Inuyasha! Lets go back to the village and tell the others the news and that we won't be back for a while ok,” said Kagome as she grabbed his hand and started to walk back to the village. As they only took a few steps towards the village Inuyasha could tell that someone was headed their way. He gently pushed Kagome behind him any case trouble was coming their way but as the person came closer they both could see that it was a girl around little Rin's age running to them.

 

“Kagome-sama! Please! You must come with me! Kaede-sama told me to come after you! My mother went into labor and is having trouble. She said that you might be able to help us! Please hurry!” screamed the little girl as she also was recuperating her breath.

 

“Sure lets go!” said Kagome as she gently let go of Inuyasha and grabbed the little girl hand. “Inuyasha, I'm sorry but I have to go. When you were asleep I wrote you something. Please read it, I love you,” said Kagome as she kissed his cheek and ran back with the little girl. Inuyasha stood there bewildered at how fast that whole event took. He knew he couldn't stop her from going because of his own selfish needs of wanting her for himself so he let her go but was surprised about the letter. In no way had he felt her leave his side throughout the whole night in order to get her skirt for the things she needed for the letter. As he opened the letter he read it out loud-

 

“Inuyasha, thank you for giving me the best present that anyone

has ever given to me, your love. This is something that I want to

give to you. What it says come from the trustiest part of my heart:

Love is the greatest feeling,
Love is like a play,
Love is what I feel for you,
Each and every day,
Love is like a smile,
Love is like a song,
Love is a great emotion,
That keeps us going strong,
I love you with my heart,
My body and my soul,
I love the way I keep loving,
Like a love I can't control,
So remember when your eyes meet mine,
I love you with all my heart,
And I have poured my entire soul into you,
Right from the very start.

We had this crazy plan to meet
And run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet instead
I found this letter
And this is what it said

If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then until I see you again
I'll be loving you, love, me

 

 

As I took the paper from him I couldn't help but let all my emotion come upon me. What she wrote was one of the most beautiful things that I have ever read in my whole 250 years of life. I didn't even think it was possible with all the love and respect I had for my Obaa-san but after reading her poem I have now a new perspective of how much love she truly had for everyone. As we walked passed the famous tree that brought my family together to the ancient well I could see Ojii-chan opening the wooden doors and entering the old small cabin. Ojii-chan, what are you doing? - I said as I stepped right behind him.

 

“This is the place were it all started. This old, stinking, wooden spot was the one place that brought joy to my miserable life,” whispered the hanyou with his head down.” I gently put my clawed hand on his shoulder and just stood there offering him my support as he quietly cried away. After a few moments I could feel my Ojii-chan trying to straighten up and opened the cover of the well that he made himself the last day they traveled through it. As he used his claw to opened it he set aside the wooden top and took out a paper of his own along with Obaa-san's paper.

 

“Kagome, Koi, I will never forget you. To this day I will never forget those words that you had written for me and I never will. I wrote something for you to read and I know no matter where you are you will find it. You just wait for me in heaven and I will be there one day to see you again. I will always love you, Kagome,” said Inuyasha as he placed his hand on the top edge of the well and slowly opened his hand to let the paper fall down.

 

I never asked him about what he wrote on the paper but I knew it had nothing but the truth in it. My Ojii-chan might be a hard-headed, half demon but he is the best person I have ever known. It wasn't until a week later that he finally opened up to me and told me what he wrote on the paper and not for one moment did I ever doubt his love for our family, his love for me, his love for his mate.

 

A stranger you were once.
Then, with a gentle look you took my hand.
As our lives engaged,
you lit my life and I held both your hands.
Now that decades have passed,
ours souls have indeed become one.
How fortunate we are
that we have found the love so true
that everyone dreams about.

I remember when I first heard this song I was about 12(maybe). I was sitting in the back seat of my family car and my mom had turn on the radio. As she was looking for a good station she randomly stop it at a country station and this song came up. I'm the kind of person that just pays attention to the beat of the song but for some reason I paid attention to what the singer was saying. I remember this song, If You Get There Before I do by Collin Raye, was the first song that ever made me cry. I absolutely love this song and I hope I did it justice for a little Inuyasha and Kagome piece. Please let me know how I did. I have a feeling I'll be making a lot of these so if you have any requests let me know. The poems are not mine though!
