"Inu Yasha..." A girl asked during a lonely night. A hanyou boy lay on the grass, his black hair near a similiar black haired one. "Nanigotda?" He asked annoyedly. Kagome giggled at Inu Yasha's imaptience. "Isn't it beautiful out tonight?" She whispered as her blue saphire eyes admired the sky. Inu Yasha blinked in confusion. What a strange onna he had beside him!"Keh! Who cares about stars? I read in your te-xt-bo-ok that they're just balls of gas!" Inu Yasha huffed and he continued admiring the night's sky. Kagome sighed, her eyes hopeful. "Inu Yasha.....why do you hate being ningen just one night of the cycle of the moon?" Her quiet answer stunned him. "Because!" He yelled, his anger and hurt apparent. Kagome sat up and watched Inu Yasha roll over on his side, keeping his face blocked from her.
Kagome felt her tears well up in her eyes. "Inu Yasha....gomen ne nasai. I should have known not to ask such a personal quesiton."She whispered, hugging her knee's to her chin. Inu Yasha glowered at the ground infront of him. 'Why did she have to ask that? Why can't she just accept I hate being ningen?..' A sniffle caught his attention, stunning him. Sitting up hesitaintly, he saw Kagome's shaking shoulders. "Ka-Kagome...dajibou?" He asked shakingly, hopeful she wasn't crying. "Why should you care, Inu Yasha! I'm just a ningen! Weak and anoying, hai? Or atleast that's what you think about me and every other person!" She yelled, her eyes black in the night. Inu Yasha stuttered, his mouth agape.
"Kagome..."
"Leave me alone, Inu Yasha! I can't believe I tried to help you! How baka of me!" Kagome stood eruptly, her fists clenched tightly. Glaring down at the shocked now ningen boy, Kagome stomped across the dandilion field, ignorng his calls. "Kagome! Wait!" Inu Yasha yelled, upset at her quick leave. Picking himself up and running across the field, he grabbed Kagome's arm. Kagome gasped in surprise at being grabbed out of the blue. Looking up, she then saw it was Inu Yasha who grabbed her so roughly. "Let me go." She said angrily, her voice shaking from her turmoiled emotions. Inu Yasha shook his head, his two black locks shaking with it."Yen." He whispered, his black eyes hidden from view. Kagome looked at Inu Yasha, hurt beyond belief. 'I know I'm not Kikyo. I know I'm not who you wish me to be. But I still love you, Inu Yasha.' The girl thought in her heart sadly, knowing her hanyou's trouble to speak. Kikyo was dead. Final. They had found her bow broken on the mountain near Naraku's shoki.
Inu Yasha was depressed beyond reason. He had figured out a new attack, Kongohousa. But his victory was little for Naraku had gotten away, leaving the hanyou angered beyond comprehension for he could not avenge his old love's death. Sesshomaru had helped with Naraku's large injury, as did Kikyo's arrow that she had shot. Everyone had put in so much, only to have that despicable creature to flee form their grasp. "I hate being ningen because it means I can't protect you or anyone else. I hate not being able to protect myself and everybody I want to." A soft reply stoped Kagome'd wanderin thoughts. Turning in suprise, Kagome looked at the down cast eyed Inu Yasha. "Inu Yasha-"
"I could never really protect myself when Oka-saan and Otou died. I was still a little runt. I remember being thrown out of the castle and having to dig in their garbarge to eat. I ate live squirrels and rabbits that I caught, because I didn't know how to skin or cook yet. I was chased constantly by youkai who wished to rid of me. The abomination." Inu Yasha croaked, his anger, hate and sadness making his voice tremble. Kagome paused and felt her tears starting to fall. 'O Inu Yasha....' Her heart sobbed at her hanyou's hurt. 'How could anyone do that to him? He is such a good person. Maybe a little bit rough and loud, but he is still so sweet, kind and caring when he wishes to be.'
"Then, Sesshomaru came." Inu Yahsa spat, his voice now angered. Kagome felt Inu Yasha's grip on her arm become painful, but she ignored it. She knew Inu Yasha needed this out. She had known it for a while now. "He said he owed our Outo the promise of protecting me. But he didn't. He was just like every other youkai. Wishing to be rid of the hanyou filth." Kagome felt more tears come up as she noticed Inu Yasha's shaking hand. "He beat me. He said I was digusting and a disgrace. I admired him so much until he hit me. That's when I started to hate him. I wished him dead everyday. Finally I ran away, raising myself in this forest. I taught myself everything I know. And don't." Inu Yasha whispered the last part as he looked up into her eyes. Kagome gave a gentle, watery smile. Inu Yasha was admitting something deep to her. Something that was meant for only her. 'He is telling me he doesn't know how to give love or how to accept himself. Inu Yasha, I swear to you now, I will help you. No matter what.' Kagome smiled at the quiet boy. Smiling at his now confused look, Kagome stepped towards him and encircled her arms around his waist, bringing him into her body.
Ignoring his stiffened, tense body, Kagome smiled and closed her eyes, enhaling his pine and woodsy scent. "Kagome.." He whispered, looking down at the onna from the future. His heart hurt so much. She cared for him. And he her. He needed her so much, since Kikyo was gone. He was hurting so much at the thought he had failed her, Kikyo. Failed her for a second time, resulting in her death. 'I know your not Kikyo. You're Kagome. Sweet, annoying, pure and beautiful Kagome. My Kagome. I promise you, I won't fail you.' Inu Yasha swore to himself as he hugged her back, resting his chin on her jasmine scented hair.

"What are they saying?" Shippo asked as he peered form the bushes, his emerald eyes straining to make out what Inu Yasha and his Oka-saan were saying. Miroku and Sango sat beside him, peeping through the bushes. "I don't know!" Sango whispered, trying to get a better view. Kirara mewled in agreement, her own red eyes squinting to read the exchange. "Ah Sango! Perhaps Inu Yasha is proposing to Kagome-sama?" The lecherous houshi exclaiemd, rubbing his hand on her bottom. Sango's eye twitched, her face going red. "Hentai!" She whispered, not wanting Kagome's and Inu Yasha's tender and rare moment to end. Turning around, she slapped her fiance across the face. Miroku laughed boyishly, his violet eyes closed and his smile wide.
"Look Look!" Shippo whispered loudly. Sanog and Miroku quickly turned their heads. They saw Kagome and Inu Yahsa hug gently, both cherishing their embrace. Sango and Miroku sighed. "Perhaps, Kikyo-sama can rest in peace now that Inu Yasha is happy." Miroku said grimly, knowing the dead miko's death was aggravating his dear friend. Sango nodded tersly. "Hai, I hope so houshi-sama." The group then slwoly crept back to the camp, hoping to not interupt such a rare moment for the couple.
