Tourniquet Summary: The final battle with Naraku. Kagome is tired of standing aside and letting the others fight. This was her battle. She had shattered the jewel. She made a fatal decision. One that could take her life or save them all. Songfic: Evanescence, Tourniquet

 

Tourniquet

 

Kagome waited in the clearing while InuYasha, Kouga, Ginta, Hakkaku, Sango and Miroku risked their lives trying to kill Naraku. Kagome knew it was the last battle. She could sense it.

 

"I'm fed up with waiting while the others could be dying!" She said loudly.

 

"But what can we do Kagome?" Shippo put in. Kirara mewled beside him.

 

Kagome smiled down at her adopted little boy, “You cannot do anything to help them yet my son. But I can"

 

She knelt down beside her huge yellow backpack for what she was certain to be the last time. There, on top, was a pair of stretchy leather pants made for fighting and moving easily in. Kagome pulled them out slowly, ceremoniously.

"I tried to kill the pain

But only brought more

Kagome pulled her fighting pants on and pulled her skirt off. Then her top came off to reveal a black corset tube top that wasn't too tight but just enough to hold fast. She tied her hair into a high, tight ponytail. Kagome reached into her bag once again and pulled out scythe holders that strapped to her back and put them on. Then she pulled out the scythes.

 

"Kirara, stay with Shippo." Kagome commanded in a strict no-argument tone. Kirara mewed her promise to and soon Kagome was running to the battlefield at a speed only a demon could be capable of.

 

"I lay dying

And I'm pouring

Crimson regret and betrayal

I'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming

Am I too lost to be saved?

Am I too lost?"

 

Kagome entered the battlefield. No one noticed her because she had masked her presence, aura and scent. Not even Naraku noticed her.

 

Kouga was dealing with two soldier youkai that were at least eight feet tall each. Meanwhile a human sized rat demon snuck up behind him with a dagger. But at the last second Kagome ran up behind it and stabbed it through its chest.

 

The soldier demons were so shocked they paused before ignoring Kouga and going after the dark haired wench who had ruined their plan. Kouga spun around as the soldiers ran past him. Then he saw them charge at Kagome.

 

"No!” He let the cry escape his lips as Kagome, a cocky smirk clearly visible on her face, stabbed first one, then the other soldier demons. Blood poured out of their wounds and onto the ground as they fell. When the brothers hit the ground, they did not get up. Serene smiles played on their faces. Then Kouga and Kagome heard the spirits final words.

 

"Thank you young priestess warrior. You have finally set us free from that monster"

 

Kagome allowed a soft smile to play on her lips before the cocky smirk of before replaced it once again.

"Let's do this." Kagome said to Kouga. He nodded and helped Kagome. Kouga and Kagome worked their way quickly across the battlefield where Naraku was watching every one of her friends fight for their revenge.

 

Kouga used his demon abilities to claw and fight his way forward while next him Kagome was doing well with her miko abilities and scythes.

 

'When did she learn to use those things so well?' Kouga pondered while slashing a gremlin in half and shattering a bat youkai skull with his foot at the same time.

 

"Do you remember me?

Lost for so long

Will you be on the other side?

Or will you forget me"

 

Kagome was amazing. Everyone had stopped to watch her. Even Naraku. Kagome fought long and hard. She would take on three or four at once and then move forward. She was graceful yet forceful as she stabbed chests, avoided hits and severed heads. Finally, bloody and exhausted, Kagome stood in the middle on thousands of corpses. Blood pooled on the bodies and ground and stained Kagome's face, hands and body. She was breathing hard, Her chest rising up and down in the black corset.

 

Kagome turned to Naraku and with a glare then another cocky smirk, "Bring it on."

 

"I'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming

Am I too lost to be saved?

Am I too lost?"

 

Kagome and Naraku fought long and hard. They used magic and body to harm each and soon both were brutally injured. Kagome was breathing even harder than before and even Naraku was looking fatigued. InuYasha was amazed. He had never seen this side of Kagome before.

 

'Maybe I shouldn't have mated Kikyo.'

 

Flashback:

 

InuYasha and Kikyo stood together in each other's arms. Kagome looked hurt but she did not cry, nor did she run.

 

Kagome had never been the same after that but it had been her that had stopped Kikyo from stabbing InuYasha through the heart on the night of the full moon when he turned human. Since then InuYasha had tried to win back her friendship-and her love. But Kagome had put up a wall of ice around her heart. She also seemed to prefer traveling on Kouga's back. InuYasha was wildly jealous and to tell the truth he missed the feeling of her weight on his back. He had loved Kagome all along but he let his feelings of responsibility cloud his judgment. Or so he tried to convince himself. InuYasha knew that deep down he had just been stupid and blind to her. But then came the day he found out Kikyo had been Naraku's whore all along. InuYasha finally felt what he did to Kagome.

Kagome and Naraku battled endlessly. They dodged hits while trying to hit the opponent at the same time. It was futile, they were too evenly matched. Or so that was what Naraku had thought. He hadn't noticed Kagome make her way gradually towards him, closer and closer. But Kouga, InuYasha and the others noticed it. Kouga was silently cheering for his woman in his head while InuYasha was lost in his own memories. Naraku landed a blow to Kagome's shin. She screamed out in pain but managed to hold her ground.

 

"Too slow." Naraku smirked cockily. He thought he had finally won the upper hand.

 

Until he saw Kagome's evil smile and realized how close they were. He then knew her plan.

 

Kagome charged forward and drove her hands through Naraku's chest, digging her fist clear to the other side. She was clutching his remaining pieces of the Shikon Jewel. Kagome brought her shards out and they were drawn to each other, fusing together and creating a blinding light.

 

It flashed out until it consumed everything within a hundred mile radius. Finally the light contracted. The companions were able to see again but when they looked at Kagome and Naraku. Naraku was gone. Then they saw her body. But it wasn't moving.

 

"NO!" Kouga yelled. He charged out to her body but it was too late. Kouga gripped Kagome close to his chest and let out a sorrowful howl that echoed throughout the whole of Japan.

 

"My wounds cry for the grave

My soul cries for deliverance

Will I be denied?

Christ

Tourniquet

My suicide"

 

That night, he dreamed of her. Kouga had finally let the tear-streaked face of Sango convince him to sleep with the rest of them. But he could not figure out how she managed to talk after all the crying they had all done. Shippo, Sango and himself especially.

 

"Kouga"

 

Kouga stirred.

 

"Kouga"

 

He opened his eyes but he was not at the camp they had made. Kouga was in a lush field of flowers, mostly lilies and violets. His Kagome stood there smiling. She wore a billowing white silk dress. The chest that had stitching just under her breasts, acting as a semi-bra. It went down to her knees and all the way down to her wrists." Kouga my love. I am so sorry"

 

"Kagome." Kouga did not think he would be able to cry but as he gazed upon her face Kouga felt tears cascade down his cheeks once more.

 

"My love I am sorry. I did not know how to tell you that it was going to be this way"

 

"Kagome how did this happen?" Kouga demanded.

 

"Well when the Jewel fused together I wished that Naraku's evil would vanish. But something went wrong, as Midoriko warned me could happen and I had to give my life's blood to protect you and Shippo, our son"

 

Kouga felt happiness and pride in knowing that Kagome had allowed him to be Shippo's adoptive father.

 

"I must go soon but remember, I will be waiting for you so that our spirits may fly free together forever. It is not now, it is not tomorrow. You still many years ahead of you mate but if you be patient I promise to make it all worth your while. I am not saying you should not take another mate until we meet again." Kagome informed him.

 

"When will we meet again my love?" Kouga felt his heart bleed at the thought of life without his mate but he felt joy in the knowledge that Kagome had finally accepted his suitor ship.

 

"I cannot tell you. That is for the fates to decide but I wish you to give Sango, Shippo and Miroku my love and guardianship and InuYasha...my forgiveness. I know that he has felt all of my pain that he caused when he discovered the truth about Kikyo and now I am willing to forgive him. I will never forget it but I forgive him. My love I must leave you now but I promise to visit you in your dreams once a year on this night. My powers cannot allow more than that now I am gone in body but I wait when we are as free as Kagura. She is not to blame for killing your brethren because Naraku forced her to. He threatened her life and she could not abandon her sister Kanna. They died when Naraku did but they were pure and fly with me. My love I will be watching over you. Never forget. I am waiting for you." Kagome bid him a final farewell before Kagura, Kanna and another woman Kouga had heard of in legends appeared on Kagura's feather.

 

"Midoriko." He breathed.

 

Midoriko chuckled, "Smart boy .I trust Kagome has explained everything to you? We must depart for now. Until next year wolf boy." She added the last part with a playful wink. Kouga had to think what else Kagome had told her, Kagura and Kanna.

 

The morning Kouga awoke with a smile plastered on his face. He waited until the others woke up. They were all giving him strange looks.

 

"Why the hell are you so happy? Kagome DIED yesterday remember? You dumbass what the hell is wrong with you?" InuYasha demanded.

 

"Who are you calling dumbass dipshit? If you are going to be that way I won't tell you what Kagome said." Kouga retorted.

 

"She visited you in your dreams?" Sango said excitedly, "What did she say"

 

"That she sends her love, guidance and guardianship to you all. And Shippo? Kagome said that I would be your surrogate father if you wished it"

 

Shippo's small face lit up and he leapt into his new papa's arms.

 

"And InuYasha"

 

"Yeah"

 

"Kagome says that she forgives you."
