Chapter 2

A Growing Attraction

Inuyasha followed Kagome back inside of the throne room. Naraku and Sesshomaru were in view and stopped Kagome. "I was just about to come looking for you." Naraku said.

"I was outside in the garden. It was too crowded in here." Kagome said.

"Ah yes, it does get to you after a while, doesn't it?" Naraku asked.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"Inuyasha, find Miroku." Sesshomaru said.

Inuyasha mumbled, but went to find the lecher anyway. "Whatever."

"You'll get a chance to get to know Sesshomaru-sama, Inuyasha-sama, and Miroku-sama. They shall be staying at the castle for a while." Naraku said.

"I hope you enjoy your stay." Kagome said.

Inuyasha came back with Miroku. He had a red handprint on his cheek and a dazed look in his eyes. "I think I'm in love." He said.

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and hit him on the head. "Excuse him. I think he's had too much to drink." Inuyasha said.

"Ah, well if Kagura were around, I'd have her show you to your rooms before heading to dinner. I don't know where she disappeared to." Naraku said. "I'd show you myself, but I must talk with Lord Taki."

"I can show them." Kagome offered, anything to get away.

Naraku smiled and kissed her on the cheek. "I'll see you in the morning then. I'm sorry I can not talk more with you, Sesshomaru-sama."

"No need to apologize. I know how crazy things can get." Sesshomaru said.

"We'll discuss some things tomorrow, and I'll send someone for your things, since you didn't plan to stay here for so long." Naraku said.

Kagome faked a smile and waited for Naraku to leave before turning to the guests. "Follow me and I'll show you your rooms." She said with a smile and started walking down the hall.

Inuyasha's heart soared when Kagome smiled. He hadn't seen her smile yet, even though it did seem a little fake. If a fake smile could get that reaction out of him, what could a real smile do? Inuyasha didn't like having questions without answers, so he was going to find out.

They had all walked down the hall up the stairs and to the left. "This is the guest room wing. There are three special rooms for you. They're all the same, but do have different color schemes." Kagome explained.

She opened the door to one of the rooms and let them look in. The room was pretty big. There was a bed in the middle against the back wall. On the right side of the bed was a door leading to the bathroom. On the other side of the bed was a door leading to the balcony. There was a closet on the left of the entrance to the room and a dresser next to it.

"There's a private bathroom and balcony." Kagome said. The room they were in now was white. "Who wants this room?"

"I'll take it." Sesshomaru said. He liked plain white things mostly.

"The next room is across the hall." Kagome said. They walked across the hall to the red room.

"I'll take this one." Inuyasha said.

"You always did like the color of blood." Miroku laughed.

"I don't like it because it's the color of blood. I just like red." Inuyasha said.

"The next room is next to this one." Kagome laughed. "It's purple."

"I guess this one is mine." Miroku said.

"Now that you know where you're sleeping, shall we go get something to eat?" Kagome asked.

"Yeah, I'm starving." Inuyasha said.

"Me too." Miroku said.

"Follow me." Kagome said.

They walked back down the hall and stairs. They stopped at a double door and Kagome pushed it open. "This is where we have all the meals. Naraku mostly eats in his room though." Kagome said.

"I wonder why?" Inuyasha snorted.

Sesshomaru hit him and walked in. They sat down at the table as they food was being served. Sesshomaru sat next to Inuyasha who sat next to Miroku. Kagome sat across from Inuyasha. The doors opened and a woman walked in.

She had long black hair, brown eyes, pink eye shadow, and she was wearing a skintight black outfit. She froze when she saw everyone looking at her. "Gomen, I didn't know we were having guests." She said nervously and quickly ran out of the dining room.

"Who was that?" Miroku asked with a dazed look in his eyes.

"That was Sango." Kagome said.

Sango walked back into the room with a blush on her cheeks. She changed into blue kimono and sat down next to Kagome across from Miroku. She noticed him and pointed at him. "YOU!" She shouted.

"Sango?" Kagome asked.

"That...hentai touched me!" Sango yelled.

Everyone looked to Miroku. "Is this the girl you claimed to have fallen in love with?" Inuyasha asked.

"Hai." Miroku stood up and walked next to Sango. He got down on one knee and grabbed her hand. "Will you do me the honor of bearing my child?"

Sango turned red in anger and embarrassment. She hit the monk and left him on the floor. Returning back to her meal she began to eat.

"Sango, did you really have to be so harsh on him?" Kagome asked.

"Don't worry, he'll wake soon. This happens all the time, although you're the first woman to ever hit him. Usually, it's their husbands that do that." Inuyasha said.

"He deserved it." Sango continued to eat.

"Oh, Sango, this is Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands. This is his half brother Inuyasha and their friend Miroku." Kagome introduced.

"Gomen, I didn't know who you were." Sango blushed in embarrassment.

"It's alright. The monk deserves it anyway. Feel free to hit him if he does it again." Sesshomaru said.

"Hai." Sango said. She screamed when a hand felt her backside. She stood up and hit the monk again.

"You'll never learn, will you Miroku?" Inuyasha shook his head.

"Hentai!" Sango screamed and stood up. "If you'll excuse me. I can no longer stand being in the same room with HIM!"

"I think I shall retire for the night." Miroku chased after Sango.

"Baka." Inuyasha said.

"I have a feeling Sango will have her hands full while you're here." Kagome said.

"Seems like it." Inuyasha snorted.

"I shall retire for the night as well. Thank you for showing us around, Kagome-sama." Sesshomaru said.

"Please, just call me Kagome." She said.

"Good night." Sesshomaru said and left the dining room.

Inuyasha and Kagome both became quiet when he left. Neither had anything to say. Inuyasha had finished his meal long ago. He just wanted to stay around Kagome for a little longer.

Kagome put her spoon up and stood up. She began to walk out of the dining room. "Where are you going?" Inuyasha asked.

"To the gardens." Kagome said.

"May I accompany you?" Inuyasha asked.

"If you'd like." Kagome waited for him to catch up.

They both walked out of the dining room and through another door in front of them. The garden was beautiful. It looked even better lit up by the moon. In the middle, there was a bench. Kagome walked to it and sat down. Inuyasha followed and sat down next to her.

They were both silent. Kagome was looking up at the stars while Inuyasha was looking at her. She shivered from the night air. Inuyasha took off his haori and draped it over her shoulders. "Arigato." Kagome said and held the haori together.

"You...don't want to marry Naraku, do you?" Inuyasha asked. He could always sense the sadness when he was around, even when he wasn't around.

Kagome didn't say anything she just brought her knees to her chest and hugged them. Inuyasha waited to see if she would answer. He could tell that she didn't just by not answering him. He sighed and turned more towards her.

"I already know you don't. Why don't you turn him down?" Inuyasha asked.

"Do you know what he'd do? He's scary. He already ripped me away from my family, who knows what else he'd do." Kagome said quietly. She buried her face into her knees and softly cried.

She tried to hold the tears in but couldn't help it. For so long she held in the sadness she felt. In barely one evening, he had broken her down and made her cry. She was crying in a stranger's arms. She couldn't help it, but being around him calmed her down and made her felt more at ease.

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her. He couldn't stand it when women cried, and seeing her cry was even worse. It felt like his heart would break in two if she kept going. He hadn't meant to make her cry. He couldn't help the feeling of wanting to take her away from everything.

After a while Kagome calmed down. Inuyasha wiped the last of her tears. "Gomen, Inuyasha. I didn't mean to cry." Kagome sniffled.

"It's ok. I'm the one that brought it up." Inuyasha said.

"I couldn't help it. I've held it in for so long." Kagome said.

"Why? Why are you going through with this?" Inuyasha asked.

"Because, it's not something I have a choice in. Naraku is powerful, and has to have his way. I don't know what he'd do if I turned him down." Kagome said. "It was bad enough the first time I tried to run away."

"What happened?" Inuyasha asked.

"A week after I'd been brought here, I was allowed to go outside for a while. When the guards turned their backs, I took off running." Kagome started crying again remembering it. Inuyasha held her in is arms again. "I got really far but somehow Naraku found me. He suddenly appeared in front of me when I rested at the base of a tree."

"What did he do?" Inuyasha asked.

"He brought me back to the castle and locked me in a room. The next day he hit me and knocked me down to the floor. He kicked me in the stomach and told me never to do it again."

Inuyasha tried to hold back the growls. How could that cold-hearted bastard do something like that to her? He ripped her away from her family and hit her. He held her tighter, trying to protect her from everything.

Kagome pulled back and wiped away the remaining tears. "Gomen, I got your shirt all wet." Kagome laughed weakly.

"It's ok." Inuyasha smiled.

"It's getting late." Kagome said. "We should get to bed."

"Yeah." Inuyasha said.

They walked into the castle and Kagome handed Inuyasha back his haori before separating. "Arigato Inuyasha. Gomen for crying." Kagome apologized again.

"It's ok." Inuyasha said. He was just happy she could open up to him in such a short time of getting to know each other. He wondered if they would get closer during his stay here? Would he be able to see her? What if Naraku was jealous and was always watching her? He would die if he couldn't see her again.
