Chapter 9

At The Castle

Inuyasha walked down the hall and knocked on Sesshomaru's door. "What is it?" Sesshomaru said.

He walked inside and stood in front of his desk. "I brought Kagome back with me." He said.

Sesshomaru looked up at him. "I know." He said.

"You know?" Inuyasha asked shocked. He thought he was so careful.

"Of course. You're so transparent, besides I can smell her on you." Sesshomaru explained. "I watched how you acted around her."

"Why didn't you say anything then? Aren't you mad?" Inuyasha asked.

"You might have begun a war but there's no way to get around that."

"What do you mean?"

"Why do you think I brought Miroku with us? I had him find out about Naraku. Apparently Kagome is a miko. She has something that is very powerful and he was going to use her to control everything. The treaty was nothing more than a cover up to find our weaknesses." Sesshomaru explained calmly.

"So Kagome can stay?" Inuyasha asked. "I wouldn't let you take her anyway."

"I know you're too stubborn to have it any other way. She can stay. That's why I let you take her. Naraku would just use her. She doesn't deserve the life she had." Sesshomaru said. "You had better be prepared for what's to come. I doubt he'd enjoy you kidnapping his intended."

"You couldn't have told me any of this before?" Inuyasha asked getting angry.

"I thought it would be amusing to watch you try to sneak around. You're lucky Naraku hasn't figured it out...yet..." Sesshomaru went back to his work. "Speak to Miroku he also brought a souvenir with him."

Inuyasha wondered what Miroku brought. He left Sesshomaru's office and walked towards Miroku's room on the way back to his. It was a couple doors down from his. He knocked on the door and waited.

"Come in." Miroku said.

He walked in and stopped when he noticed he wasn't alone. "So that's your souvenir?" Inuyasha asked.

"Well, I couldn't let her stay there knowing we might go to war." Miroku laughed nervously.

"Hi, Inuyasha." Sango said.

"You just up and left?" Inuyasha asked. "What about Kagome? She's your friend isn't she?"

"Hai, but she told me long ago that if I could get away that I should go for it. If Houshi-sama hadn't told me that she was leaving with you I would've went back for her." Sango explained. "Besides it's Kagome Naraku wants not me. Even if I did run away he wouldn't care. He keeps me around for Kagome's sake."

"Whatever." Inuyasha snorted and left. He headed for his room.

Kagome was sitting on his bed waiting for him to come back. "How did it go?" She asked.

"He knew." Inuyasha said. "I'll tell you about it later. Miroku brought something home with him."

"What?" Kagome asked.

"Your friend Sango." Inuyasha said as he sat on the bed.

"Really? I kind of figured she'd go with him. I always told her that if she had the chance to get away to take it and it seems like she really likes him." Kagome said.

"That baka always tries to get some girl." Inuyasha sighed. "I think he likes her a lot though. He's usually not as persistent with women."

Kagome covered her mouth when she yawned. "Go to sleep. We rode almost for a day. You must be tired." Inuyasha said. "You can sleep on my bed."

"Where will you sleep? You must be tired too." Kagome said.

"Don't worry about it. Just get in bed." Inuyasha pushed her down onto the bed. Kagome crawled under the covers and got comfortable.

"Oyasumi, Inuyasha." Kagome said sleepily.

Inuyasha watched her sleep for a little while before lying down next to her and falling asleep.

Kagome woke up when she felt herself being pulled up against something. She opened her eyes and saw clawed hands around her waist. Not remembering where she was she started kicking and thrashing around. "NO!" She screamed as she continued to get out of the arms.

Inuyasha woke when he was kicked in the shin. "Kagome stop!" He yelled trying to hold Kagome down. "Kagome!"

Recognizing the voice Kagome calmed down a little. "Inuyasha?" She turned around to look at him. "Gomen."

"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

"I thought you were Naraku." Kagome said. "I forgot I came back with you. I'm so sorry."

"It's okay." Inuyasha said as he hugged her.

"What did Sesshomaru have to say?" Kagome asked.

"Well..."

"Naraku was going to use me?" Kagome asked. "What for?"

"You're a miko with something he wants. I don't know all the details. I don't think your powers have awakened because I can't sense any miko in you." Inuyasha explained.

"That's why he kept me all this time..." Kagome trailed off.

"What does it matter now? You're away from him and he won't be able to use you. I won't let him."

"Arigato." Kagome smiled weakly. "I'm afraid of what he'll do when he finds out I'm missing. He should know by now."

"Naraku-sama." An attendant knocked on his door.

"What is it? I'm busy." Naraku said.

The attendant opened the door and poked his head in. "Naraku-sama, Kagome-sama is gone." He said.

Naraku looked up from his papers. "What do you mean she's gone?" He narrowed his eyes.

"We can't find her anywhere. Her scent can't be found." The servant said nervously.

Naraku threw the papers from his desk onto the floor and hit the desk so hard it flung against the wall and cracked it. "Find her. I don't care if you have to rip up the castle. FIND HER!" He roared.

The attendant scrambled out of the room to let others know. Everyone hurriedly searched for Kagome.

"Come on I'll show you around. We can go to the nearest village and get you some clothes that fit." Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's hand.

Kagome stood with Inuyasha and they walked out of the room. Before they left the castle Miroku called out to them. Sango was with him and she rushed towards Kagome saying how happy she was that she got away.

"Can we come with you? Sango also needs some things in the village." Miroku asked.

"If you want." Inuyasha said. He was sure Kagome wanted to catch up with Sango.

Kagome and Sango were ahead of Inuyasha and Miroku talking. Inuyasha sighed somewhat regretting he let them come. He was a little relieved that Kagome wasn't worrying like she was earlier. It was as if she'd forgotten the whole thing.

Inuyasha showed Kagome around the village after Miroku took Sango somewhere. Afterwards he bought her a couple of kimonos. Kagome thanked him and was relieved that she could wear something comfortable and didn't reveal so much.

"Arigato Inuyasha." Kagome smiled.

"Will you quit thanking me? I already told you your welcome." Inuyasha said.

"Gomen, its just a relief to be able to wear regular clothes." Kagome said. "I don't know how to repay you though."

"You don't have to." Inuyasha said.

"I'd like to do something." Kagome said.

"Are you two done doing what you need?" Miroku asked as he and Sango walked up to them.

"Hai." Kagome said.

They all walked back together and Inuyasha talked to Miroku about what he found out at Naraku's. The girls were up ahead talking. "What did you find out about Naraku?" Inuyasha asked.

"Would you want Kagome to hear this? I don't think it's something she needs to hear." Miroku said.

"No, but she's not paying attention." Inuyasha looked ahead.

"I'm discussing it with Sesshomaru tonight. You may come if you like." Miroku said.

"You were just going to leave me out of the discussion." Inuyasha said angrily.

"Sesshomaru thought you might be to busy with Kagome." Miroku laughed.

"That bastard!" Inuyasha growled. "How does Rin put up with him?"

"Your guess is as good as mine." Miroku said. "You should introduce Kagome to her. I think they'd become good friends."

"What about Sango?" Inuyasha asked.

"She's going to meet her tonight while I'm talking to Sesshomaru." Miroku said.

"I guess Kagome can meet her tonight to then." Inuyasha said. "Tell Sesshomaru I'm going to the meeting you're trying to keep secret."

"We weren't trying to keep it a secret." Miroku smiled. "We just found it useless to inform you of it. You always get so bored and eventually leave."

"I'll be there tonight."

Sorry that took so long to get out. My Internet was broken and then I went to my mom's house and was bored out of my mind. I thought I was going to go crazy. Also my friend came back from Korea so I was with her for like a whole week. We had lots of fun besides the attempted killing of my sister. I'm sad to report she's still alive. Oh well. One day...
