Chapter 10

Treachery

Inuyasha walked beside Kagome to take her to Rin's room. Miroku and Sango followed behind them. "Didn't you say Sesshomaru liked Rin even though she was human?" Kagome asked.

"Yeah, he tries to hide it, but he can't." Inuyasha said. They stopped at in front of a door and knocked. The door opened and they found Sesshomaru in front of them.

"What are you doing here?" Inuyasha asked.

"That's none of your business." Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at him. "It's nice to see you Kagome-sama."

"You too Sesshomaru-sama. Arigato for letting me stay here." Kagome smiled in thanks.

"You don't have to thank him. You would've stayed here regardless of what he would've said." Inuyasha glared back at him.

A girl who seemed a little younger than Kagome walked up next to Sesshomaru. "Inuyasha, you don't have to be so serious about it." The girl smiled.

"This is Rin." Sesshomaru introduced. "My mate."

"Mate?" Miroku asked.

Inuyasha sniffed and sighed. "They're mates. I couldn't smell it because I wasn't paying attention."

"Your senses are weak." Sesshomaru replied.

"Don't be so mean, Sesshomaru." Rin said.

"This is Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"So you're the one Inuyasha brought back. The one who was supposed to marry Naraku." Rin smiled at her. Kagome nodded and bent her head. "Ah, gomen, I didn't mean to bring it up."

"It's okay." Kagome smiled weakly.

"Rin has a habit of saying whatever is on her mind." Miroku explained. "This is the lovely Sango."

"Hentai!" Sango yelled as Miroku patted her rear. She quickly turned to slap him.

"Well, I'm sure Miroku will be rid of his lecherous ways soon enough." Rin giggled.

"I'm not so sure about that." Miroku smiled as he rubbed his cheek.

"You girls can talk in Rin's room. We have some business that needs to be taken care of." Sesshomaru said.

"I'll be back afterwards to come get you." Inuyasha said. Miroku nodded to Sango indicating the same thing.

Kagome and Sango both waved goodbye and walked into Rin's room. As soon as the door was shut the guys left to talk. "The guys are gone, we can talk now." Rin said. "I wouldn't want them overhearing our conversations."

"I would imagine it's hard to have private conversations with Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's ears." Sango said.

"It can be." Rin said. "So what exactly do you see in Miroku that would make you come back with him?"

Sango blushed at the accusing eyes of Rin and Kagome. "I would like to know as well Sango. As I recall, the day you were introduced to him, you called him a hentai because he had groped you the night before." Kagome laughed.

Upon hearing this Rin smiled. "So, was it his lecherous ways?" She asked.

"No, he's sweet at times. His hentai ways are a bit tiring. He reverts back to groping so quickly." Sango blushed. "I just like him, I guess."

"I knew one of these days Miroku would find someone. I'm glad it's someone who stands up to his perverse ways." Rin said.

"What attracted you to Sesshomaru? He seems cold and emotionless." Sango said.

"He acts that way, but it's not true. He's very kind and compassionate. Showing emotions to him is revealing weaknesses. I'm one of the very few who know that." Rin said.

"How did you meet?" Kagome asked.

"On one of his patrols through the forest he saved me. I was killed by a pack of wolves. He revived me with his sword. For a while I followed him, not recognizing any of my surroundings. After a while he stopped and said, `Don't think I don't know your there. Once you find your way home then go.' He said. I fell asleep after leaving the forest. When I woke up I was in his room at the castle." Rin explained. "Ever since then I've been in the castle."

"What about your family?" Sango asked.

"The whole village was destroyed. I'm the only survivor." Rin said.

"Oh." Sango said sadly.

"So what brings you to the castle, Kagome?" Rin moved so she was leaning on her left hand.

"I came back with Inuyasha. He didn't want me being in the castle. I like him a lot more than I do Naraku." Kagome said.

"Did you like Naraku at all?" Rin asked.

"I hate him." Kagome said angrily.

After leaving the girls, Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Miroku walked down the hall and into the discussion room. It was mostly used to discuss strategies or something that related to that. The room was big, and had a large table in the middle surrounded by chairs.

"What did you find out Miroku?" Inuyasha asked as soon as the door was shut. He didn't even wait for them to take their seats.

"Patience, Inuyasha." Sesshomaru said as he sat down.

As soon as Miroku was seated he got comfortable and spoke up. "As you've heard earlier, Naraku found out that Kagome has in her possession something of great value. From what I've found out today, it's an old legend." Miroku explained.

"What legend?" Inuyasha asked.

"About fifty years ago, a miko named Kikyo was protector of a jewel. The jewel gave whoever possessed it great power. She was killed by a youkai, and before her death, she ordered the jewel to be burned with her corpse." Sesshomaru explained.

"How did you find all this out? Who was the youkai?" Inuyasha asked.

"No one knows who the youkai was." Miroku said.

"We found out about the legend because Kikyo just so happens to be the older sister of Kaede." Sesshomaru said.

"What?" Inuyasha asked.

"Wait until the end of the discussion to ask your stupid questions. There is more." Sesshomaru said.

"Also, Naraku is delaying all peace treaties so he can plan an attack on the lords." Miroku said. "He was trying to find any weaknesses the lords may have shown. I also found out that in marrying Kagome, he would be able to control her use of the jewel."

"So he was just going to use her? Is that why he took her in the first place?" Inuyasha growled.

"From what I've heard, no one knew until a couple years after he took her. He wanted her in the first place, but it was a plus that she had the jewel." Miroku said. "At first, most people dismissed it as being a legend and nothing more. Naraku is obsessed in finding the jewel."

"That bastards going to pay!" Inuyasha growled and his eyes flashed red. It was gone as soon as it appeared.

"Calm yourself. Once he finds out we have Kagome, we'll be one of his first targets in the war." Sesshomaru said. "I'm already sending out warnings to the other lords."

"How long until you think Naraku finds out about Kagome and puts his plan into action?" Miroku asked.

"Not long. He's probably trying to hunt her down right now." Sesshomaru said.

"I'm going to get Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"Make sure she's with one of us at all times." Sesshomaru warned. "You'll be updated of any news."

Inuyasha nodded. "Wait, Inuyasha. I have to get Sango." Miroku said.

Inuyasha and Miroku walked out of the room as Sesshomaru followed. "What are you doing?" Inuyasha asked.

"Getting my mate." Sesshomaru said.

When they got to Rin's room Inuyasha knocked on the door. Rin answered and called out to Kagome and Sango. They appeared in the doorway and smiled. "What's wrong?" Kagome asked Inuyasha.

"It's nothing. Let's go." Inuyasha grabbed her hand and started dragging her to his room.

"Bye Rin, Sango. It was nice meeting you." Kagome said.

"Bye Kagome!" Rin shouted.

Kagome didn't say anything as she was being dragged to Inuyasha's bedroom. Once the door to his room was shut, she sat on the bed beside him. "Is something wrong?" She asked.

"Everything is fine." Inuyasha said.

Kagome dropped the subject. He didn't seem like he wanted or was going to talk about it. "You never showed me around the castle." She said.

"I'll show you tomorrow." Inuyasha said. "It's too late now."

Kagome nodded and laid back down on the bed. "So where am I going to sleep?" She asked.

"In here." Inuyasha said. "I want to keep you close."

She blushed and sat up. "In here...with you?" She stuttered.

"Yeah. That way you're close and I can protect you." Inuyasha said. "I'm not going to do anything."

"I'm not worried about that." Kagome said.

"Then what?" He asked.

Kagome shook her head and turned even redder. "Let's go get something to eat."

He grabbed her hand and lead her towards the dining room.
