Chapter 12

Mating?

Inuyasha sat on his bed thinking of a way to bring up mating to Kagome. Sesshomaru was right. If they were mated it would keep Kagome safer than if things were to stay the way they were. How would he bring it up without sounding like a hentai?

Was she ready for mating? It was a big step in a relationship. Mating meant for life. He looked down towards Kagome. She was sleeping on his bed. She didn't look as worried as she was earlier.

What if she would agree to be mated just because it was to protect her? She wouldn't do that. She wasn't that type of person. He could always bring it up and give her time to think about it. He could tell her when she woke up.

As if she sensed he wanted to talk to her she opened her eyes and yawned. She looked at Inuyasha and smiled. "Were you here the whole time I was asleep?" Kagome asked.

"Yeah." Inuyasha moved a piece of hair out of her face.

"How long was I asleep?"

"Couple hours maybe." Inuyasha shrugged.

"Weren't you bored?" Kagome asked.

"I was thinking." Inuyasha said.

"About what?" Kagome asked as she sat up next to him.

"Something." Inuyasha turned towards her more. "Something we should talk about."

"More bad news?" Kagome's head bent.

Inuyasha grabbed her chin and lifted her face. "No, its not bad news just something for you to decide."

Kagome cocked her head confused about what he was talking about. She put her hands in her lap waiting for him to continue.

"It's up to you to decide. It's okay if you're not ready." Inuyasha began.

"What are you talking about Inuyasha?" Kagome asked urging him to continue.

"If we were mated it make it easier to protect you. Like I said its up to you." Inuyasha stood and walked to the bedroom door. He opened it but turned back to her before leaving. "Think about it." He said and left.

Kagome stayed on the bed and turned to the window.

A couple hours later Inuyasha found Kagome in the gardens he had shown her earlier. He smiled knowing he could always find her there. He walked past the flowers to the middle of the garden. Kagome was sitting with her knees at her chest. Inuyasha sat down beside her.

"I knew I'd find you here." Inuyasha said.

"I can't really go anywhere else. I don't know my way around." Kagome said.

"Either way you would've been here." Inuyasha wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"Probably." Kagome shrugged as she leaned into his embrace. "Did you need something?"

"Not really. There's still no word on Naraku. No one knows what he's up to." Inuyasha said.

"I see." Kagome said.

"Come on its time for dinner." Inuyasha said as he stood. He held out his hand to help her up.

Kagome took his hand and they walked to the dining room.

"You're always late for dinner." Sesshomaru said annoyed as Inuyasha and Kagome sat down at the table.

"Like it affects you whether or not I'm here to eat." Inuyasha snapped.

"I see you haven't mated yet." Sesshomaru said with a hint of amusement in his voice, which is highly unusual in his case.

Inuyasha growled at Sesshomaru. "Mind your own business!" He growled.

"Sesshomaru be nice." Rin said as she walked in and sat down next to Sesshomaru.

"What's this about being mated?" Miroku asked.

"Why don't you mind your own business too?" Inuyasha snapped.

Sango hit Miroku and scolded him about being a pervert. "It seems like some other couple is close to mating too." Inuyasha muttered loud enough for everyone to hear.

Miroku smiled dreamily and Sango turned a light shade of red. "Can we just get on with our meal? I'd rather not hear about mating when I'm about to eat." Sesshomaru said as dinner was being served.

"You can always go to your room with Rin for that." Inuyasha snickered low enough only Sesshomaru could hear.

Sesshomaru glared murderously at him. Rin stopped him from any further actions by putting her hand on his knee.

"Let's eat in peace." Rin pleaded.

After dinner everyone parted in fear of killing on another. Well at least the guys wanted to kill one another. Miroku and Sango left the table without a word. Sesshomaru and Rin headed to his room. Inuyasha was dragging Kagome away from the dining room in anger.

"Where are we going? Inuyasha?" Kagome called out to him.

Inuyasha didn't hear her until she pinched his arm. "Hey! What did you do that for?" Inuyasha asked.

"You weren't even listening to me. I asked you where are we going?" Kagome asked.

"Huh. I don't know." Inuyasha said gruffly.

"Then why are you dragging me somewhere you don't know?" Kagome released his hold on her and stopped.

Inuyasha stopped and sighed. Then he thought of someplace they could go where it was private. Kagome would enjoy it a lot. "Come on I know where we're going now." Inuyasha said as he grabbed her arm and began to drag her away again.

Kagome sighed and let herself be dragged away. Inuyasha was angry and nothing was going to change his mind now. Whatever him and Sesshomaru were talking about at dinner really got to him.

Inuyasha dragged Kagome outside of the castle. As soon as they got out of the gates he picked Kagome up and jumped to the nearest tree. Kagome clung to Inuyasha desperately. It was dark outside and she could barely see. She assumed he could see better than her since he was succeeding at jumping from branch to branch.

Inuyasha found the spot he was looking for and stopped on a branch. He sat down against the trunk of the tree and set Kagome down in his lap. He smiled as he saw Kagome's reaction. He was right about her liking this place.

Kagome stared in awe as fireflies flew all around. There was a lake in front of them. The moon shone on it and gave it an eerie glow. The flowers were lit up from the nearby fireflies or moonlight.

"It's beautiful." Kagome said. "Why did you take me here?"

"I wanted to get out of the castle but I didn't want to leave you alone." Inuyasha said. "I meant it when I said I wasn't letting you out of my sight. Besides I thought you'd like it here just as much as the gardens."

"Arigato Inuyasha." Kagome smiled and hugged him.

Inuyasha hugged her back but when she pulled back from him he gently caught her chin and kissed her. "I like this better than a hug." He said as he looked in her eyes.

Inuyasha jumped from the tree to the ground. Kagome blushed and Inuyasha leaned forward to capture her lips in another kiss. "I'll be back." He said and took off.

"Isn't that sweet." Someone spat from behind them.

Kagome looked up towards the voice. There was enough light to make out who it was in the tree. "Kagura!"

Kagura was an incarnation of Naraku. She served him and no one else, although she hated him. He held her heart in his hands. With one squeeze she could die. Kagura was a wind user. She had short black hair in a high ponytail that was a little to the side with a white feather in the ribbon. She wore a colorful kimono and always had her fan with her.

"Long time no see Kagome." Kagura said as she jumped out of the tree in front of Kagome.

"What are you doing here?" Kagome asked taking a cautious step back.

"Naraku is pissed. He knows what your up to." Kagura smirked. "You should know Kanna's mirror can find anyone anywhere."

"I blocked it." Kagome said.

"Naraku knows you. He knows how to break you or any spell you try to use against him." Kagura said. "You should be glad he gave you the time he did. If I were you I'd go back to him now. He might not punish you as badly if you go willingly."

"So you came to get me?" Kagome asked.

"Of course. He's had you for a long time. There's no way he'd give you up now." Kagura smirked. "You're stuck with him for good. Naraku told me to bring you back alive but he didn't say unharmed."

Kagome stood her ground and glared at Kagura. She wasn't going to give up so easily. Kagura smirked. `This is going to be easy.' She thought. Kagura raised her fan and waved it towards her. "Fuujin no Mai." (I think that's what it's called. Can't remember exactly.)

Wind blades flew towards Kagome and she knew she couldn't dodge it. All she could do was brace herself for the attack. She closed her eyes and held her arms in front of her face.

The attack never happened. Kagome looked up to see Inuyasha standing in front of her. He had taken the hits that were meant for her. "Inuyasha?" Kagome whispered.

Inuyasha fell to his knees and looked up at Kagura. "What the fuck do you think your doing?" he growled.

"You've just made things interesting." Kagura smiled evilly. "Fine Kagome we'll have it your way. Either you come with me or I'll kill your little boy toy."

"What?" Kagome gasped.

"Don't listen to her. She couldn't kill me even if she tried." Inuyasha said.

"We'll see about that!" Kagura said angrily. Once again she held up her fan and was about to swing.

Inuyasha predicted her actions and in one fluid motion he jumped into the air knocked her to the ground. Kagura skidded across the clearing and quickly stood. She wiped the blood from her mouth and prepared to attack again.

Inuyasha stood menacingly in front of Kagura. He let loose a threatening growl and flexed his claws. Kagura stepped back and took the feather from her hair. She threw it to the ground. A cloud of smoke enveloped her and disappeared.

"You win this time but I'll be back!" Kagura threatened as she road the feather into the sky.

"Inuyasha are you alright?" Kagome asked worriedly. She ran to him to make sure he was okay.

"I'm fine." Inuyasha said. He slowly slumped to the ground. Kagura's wind blades got to him more than he thought they did.

"No, your not you're bleeding badly." Kagome said. His arm and leg wound was the worst injuries.

"I'm fine." Inuyasha said.

Kagome ignored Inuyasha and started tugging on his kimono. "What are you doing?" Inuyasha asked.

"I'm going to treat your wounds." Kagome said. "Don't say your fine."

Inuyasha took his inner and outer haori off so Kagome could treat his wounds. He knew he wouldn't win the argument. She was as stubborn as he was and she wasn't going to give up until she was able to treat his wounds.

Kagome tore the bottom of her kimono off to wipe off the blood. When the blood was gone from the worst of his wounds she tore more pieces of her kimono off to wrap his wounds with. By the time she was done the kimono stopped just below her butt.

"That was a waste of a kimono." Inuyasha said.

"Gomen but your wounds needed to be bandaged." Kagome apologized.

"I was kidding." Inuyasha said. He liked the nice view of her long slender legs.

Kagome saw him looking at her legs and tried to pull the kimono down lower. Inuyasha chuckled at her actions. He moved closer and put his hand on her leg. Kagome tried to move back but was stopped when Inuyasha pulled her closer and kissed her while his hand rubbed her upper thigh.

Embarrassed at first Kagome wanted to move his hand but that slowly went away when she realized how good it felt. Inuyasha smiled as he deepened the kiss. She was showing no resistance and so he decided to see how far he could get before she stopped him.

Inuyasha pulled Kagome into his lap and continued to rub her upper thigh. They pulled apart for air and Inuyasha moved lower to kiss and lick her neck. Kagome moaned when he bit lightly at the base of her neck.

Kagome pulled back when she moaned. Things were getting intense and she didn't want to be in the forest if things were to go any further. "Can we go in now? It's getting cold." She asked quietly.

Inuyasha nodded. He took off his outer haori and draped it over her shoulders. Once Kagome wrapped it around more securely Inuyasha picked her up bridal style and headed back towards the castle.

Kagome buried her face in the crook of his neck. She didn't think they would go so far. Inuyasha smirked knowing she liked it. He could smell her arousal when he started rubbing her thigh. He wasn't disappointed though. Now he knew what she liked.

Sorry it took so long to update. As you know I'm having some writer's block and school has been keeping me busy. I went to the Maroon 5 concert and it was freaking great! I loved it! Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.

NorikuKitsune- did Naraku want Kagome for something more than just the jewel? He wants her because of her too. Not just because of the jewel.
