Chapter 17

Anger and Explanations

After Sesshomaru was sure everything was safe and nothing was out of place he headed towards the library. He was sure Inuyasha was being impatient and asking everyone to explain something even though he ordered no one to even speak. Once he walked into the room everyone was silent and sitting down.

"Something wrong?" Sesshomaru asked.

"No, why?" Kagome asked.

"I suspected Inuyasha to start yelling." Sesshomaru said.

"Ah Kagome solved that a while ago. Inuyasha kept yelling and demanding that we tell him stuff but Kagome stopped him when she shot a little bit of her miko energy at him." Miroku said.

"I was not aware that you could control your powers." Sesshomaru said as he sat down. "Good to know my brother picked a mate that can put him into place."

Kagome smiled and laid a hand on Inuyasha's leg to calm him down. He had started to growl violently at Sesshomaru. "So what are we here to discuss?" Kagome asked.

"Well you could start by explaining what the hell it was you did!" Inuyasha yelled finally able to ask his question and get an answer.

"I can create shields and bows and arrows among other things." Kagome said. "No youkai can fully withstand miko energy so I hit Naraku with what I could. I can never destroy him completely. He'll heal in a couple of days."

"How do you know?" Miroku asked.

"I've shot him before. When I first discovered that I was a miko I let it all out. I nearly killed myself." Kagome explained. "I did more damage to myself than to him."

"Ah you wasted your life energy." Miroku said. "Its very dangerous to do whatever when you first begin using your miko energy."

"Naraku will take at least three days to heal." Kagome said. "I'd like to know WHAT THE HELL'S BEEN GOING ON?"

Everyone backed a couple steps away from Kagome. They didn't know she could be so scary. "You guys have been leaving me in the dark! I want some answers now!" She yelled. Her miko energy began to radiate off of her in waves.

"We will explain." Sesshomaru said. "We didn't inform you of anything because of Inuyasha's request. So any arguments should be towards him."

"Any other questions about me being a miko?" Kagome asked. She was angry with Inuyasha.

"No." Sesshomaru replied. "We must be on guard from now on. Naraku has shown that he is not afraid to attack us. We'll have another meeting tomorrow after breakfast. I need to make sure things are prepared."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Kagome then grabbed Inuyasha and began to drag him away. "I think Kagome is in need of something." Miroku said lecherously.

"I highly doubt she wants that." Sango said as she hit him. "I'm sure she wants to yell at him. She hates it when people keep things from her."

"Well it won't be a very peaceful night for them then will it?" Miroku laughed.

Once they made it to their room Kagome slammed the door. Inuyasha backed away slowly and tried to get away. "I think I'm going to go for a run." He said and headed for the balcony.

"No you don't. SIT!" Kagome yelled as she pointed to the bed.

Inuyasha sat down and sighed. "Fine what do you want to know?"

"I want to know everything you've kept from me and why." Kagome said. She stood in front of him and crossed her arms.

"I kept it from you because I wanted to protect you. You were sad and worried enough without knowing. I figured if I told you then it would make the situation worse." Inuyasha explained.

"Inuyasha, either way I need to know. You can't protect me from everything. I'd rather know than not know. I appreciate that you tried but I would like to know especially since it involves me." Kagome sat down next to him. "I can't help but think that the whole war is my fault to begin with."

"It's not your fault." Inuyasha said. He began to explain everything that had happened that she didn't know about.

"So that's it, like you told me before, I'm just a pawn in his game." Kagome whispered sadly. She stood and walked to the door. "I'll be in the gardens."

Inuyasha would've gotten up to follow her but he thought she needed some time alone, as much as he hated to be without her even for a second. Now would be the time to talk to Sesshomaru about possible battle plans.

-------------------

Kagome sat in the gardens glad that Inuyasha respected her privacy and left her alone. She expected him to follow her. She was sitting in the grass with her knees brought up to her chin, hugging them. Things were so complicated.

She expected Naraku to come but she didn't think he'd attack and do it so soon. As strong as he was he could probably hold out alone for a good while. He mostly used miasma during fights, getting rid of any youkai who couldn't handle the toxins from it. Either that or he blinded his enemies.

The good thing was that she could help out a lot. She did know a lot about Naraku and most of his allies. The least she could do was give them that information. It was a good thing she was in the gardens. She could always think well when she was near flowers.

Before she could think anymore a strong wind blew past her. She flew backwards a little bit hitting her arm on a stone bench, injuring it. She looked up where the source of the strong wind came from. It wasn't normal. Someone had to have made it.

She suspected right. Kagura stood on top of the castle wall. "Well, well, well, nice to know can get injured." She smirked.

"You know I can get injured. You were there when I tried to run away all the time." Kagome said as she held her wrist. "What are you here for? And without help?"

"No fear, seems like the hanyou taught you something." Kagura said.

"You know I don't show fear. Naraku loves it." Kagome spat.

Kagura laughed. "Ah yes I remember that all too well. I'm here on behalf of Naraku-sama, he says he will stop the war and forever leave the Western lands alone and all who live there if you come back to him."

"No." Kagome said. "I won't leave."

"Think of the lives you'll save, all the families who'll sleep easy because their husbands, fathers, or brothers are still alive, the innocent people that will live another day. You'll let them die for your selfishness?" Kagura asked.

"I'm not being selfish. I'm tired of being Naraku's play thing." Kagome narrowed her eyes. Kagura was trying to use guilt on her and it wasn't going to work.

"Do you really think Inuyasha will keep wanting you? He knows that Naraku's touched you...kissed you..." Kagura said. "Do you really think the man you love now will want you when he realizes that? Naraku will forgive you if you come back now. He's willing to forgive and give no punishments."

"I won't go back." Kagome said.

"Lets see what Inuyasha has to say about that." Kagura smirked.

Just then Inuyasha ran into the gardens to Kagome. He bent down next to her. "What the hell is going on here?" He yelled.

"Naraku-sama wishes to settle this war easily. Give Kagome back to him and he'll end the war, never to even go near the Western lands." Kagura informed him.

"She won't go back no matter what." Inuyasha growled.

Kagura smirked and looked at Kagome. She had an idea that may get Kagome back. "So you can live everyday knowing that you weren't your mate's first kiss? That you weren't the first to touch her in the way you want. She's not as innocent as she may look. You have three days to decide. I'll be back to find out your answer." Kagura laughed as she flew away on the feather from her hair.

"What the hell was she saying to you?" Inuyasha asked.

"The same thing she told you. I refused to go with her and she kept hassling me about it." Kagome explained. She began to stand up and Inuyasha grabbed her wrist to help her up, unfortunately it was her injured wrist and she cried out.

"What happened?" Inuyasha asked as he knelt down beside her.

"Kagura's wind blew me back and I hit my wrist on the bench." Kagome said.

"Let's go see Kaede-baba." Inuyasha said. He picked her up bridal style and headed to Kaede's room.

"Inuyasha I hurt my wrist not my legs." Kagome said.

"What's your point?" Inuyasha asked. He really just wanted to hold her. After what Kagura said he couldn't help but let it seep into his mind a little bit.

"Inuyasha I'll be fine. It just hurts a little bit." Kagome said.

"It doesn't matter. Better safe than sorry." He replied.

"Why is it that I can't do that with you? The last time you were injured you fought with me. Now I have no choice?" Kagome said.

"I'm stronger than you. Besides I'll heal within a couple of hours. You're a weak human and it takes longer."

Kagome pulled on his ear with her good arm. "Don't call humans weak. I'm not weak." She narrowed her eyes at him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Fine you're not weak." Inuyasha smiled. "Other humans are though."

"I still think carrying me thing is unnecessary." Kagome said.

"I don't." Inuyasha said. "So shut up and we can get this done faster. Itai!"

Kagome once again tugged on his ear, though a little harder this time. "Don't be rude." She said.

They finally made it to Kaede's room with lots of bickering. "May I help you?" Kaede asked as she opened the door. "What happened?"

"One of Naraku's minions came by and decided to beat on my mate." Inuyasha growled.

"Kagura came by and used her wind. I was blown back and hit my hand against the bench." Kagome said. "It's not necessary for all of this, its just a little sore, and it only hurts when its touched or I move it a lot."

"Still better safe than sorry." Kaede said. She motioned for them to go inside and sit down. "I don't understand why Inuyasha is carrying you though..."

"Because he's a jerk and thinks I'm incapable of walking on my own two feet." Kagome said as she was set down on the floor.

"Let me see your wrist." Kaede said. She examined her wrist. It was bruising but no bones seemed to be broken. She stopped when Kagome hissed in pain. "There seems to be no permanent damage. Its just sprained."

Kaede then got up and walked over to her shelf. She grabbed some bandages and sat back down in front of Kagome and Inuyasha. "I'm just going to wrap it up. I'll give you some extra bandages to rewrap it later. Let me know if it's too tight."

"No, its fine. Arigato Kaede-sama." Kagome smiled thankfully. She looked to Inuyasha and stuck out her tongue. "See I told you it was nothing."

Inuyasha pulled on her tongue and crossed his arms. "Like Kaede said, `Better safe than sorry.'"

"He is right, as unbelievable as it is." Kaede said.

Kagome laughed and stood up. She took the bandages from Kaede. "Arigato again Kaede-sama. I'll see you later. Come on Inuyasha, I want to go to sleep."

Inuyasha followed Kagome and nodded in thanks to Kaede. He shut the door and let Kagome lead the way to their room. He was glad that her wrist wasn't broken and that there wasn't any permanent damage. The sprain would probably heal quickly and the bruises would fade soon.

Once they made it to their room and the door was shut, Kagome plopped down onto the bed. "I'm so tired." She whined.

"Are you sure your okay?" Inuyasha asked as he laid down beside her.

"I'm fine." Kagome replied. She sensed something else in his voice. "Why?"

"Just wondering." He said as he put his hands behind his head and looked up at the ceiling.

"There's something wrong." Kagome put her hand on his chest.

Inuyasha's hand came from behind his head to grasp hers. "What Kagura said..."

"Your not having second thoughts are you? You really don't want me because of that?" Kagome asked sadly and she let go of his hand and rolled over, facing away from him.

"No-I just...never really asked anything of how far he went." Inuyasha said. "The youkai in me is angry that I wasn't your first kiss or anything..."

"Gomen, I can't change it and its not like I wanted to." Kagome said. "Naraku really is an evil man..."

"It's not your fault." Inuyasha rolled to his side and put his arm over her. "Ho-how far-" He couldn't figure out how to say it.

"How far did we get?" Kagome finished for him. She felt him nod behind her. "The most he did was kiss me. Very rarely did he ever touch me. I always held him off, saying that I wanted to wait for marriage. That's part of why he sped the date up. At least he respected my wishes of that for a while."

"That bastard is going to die!" Inuyasha growled violently.

"I don't want to think about him right now. I just want to sleep for a while." Kagome said. She turned towards him. "Will you stay with me?"

Inuyasha intertwined his leg with hers and pulled her closer. "Like you could get me to leave anyway." He smirked, then moved to kiss her.

Well hope you like this chapter. Sorry it took so long to update. A lot of things are going through my mind right now and its kind of hard to focus on writing a chapter with so many random thoughts running through my head. This chapter is a little bit longer than usual. Not by much probably but a little. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
