It's as though you can see right through me,

My eyes as hollow as the feelings behind my cheerful facade,

Though irony is a manifestation in itself,

For we both can see behind this empty smile.

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul

But what if there is no soul?

Do they become a black hole?

Sucking all emotion into an eternal abyss?

Or do they become a wall, stony and grey,

With unresilience that even the most skilled of masons

Could not hope to master?

Silence is what I see in your eyes

Your soul unspeaking, though calling to mine

Your lukewarm stare

Neither hot or cold

Speaks of feeling unspoken

Of indifference undefined

Your eyes

Are like windows

Sealed from unuse

My inert stare

Matches your unmoving gaze

Of disguised passion

My heart soars on a wave

Of feelings unbidden

My soul call to yours

As yours did mine

And as we look

Into each others eyes

You once again see right through

These walls behind my eyes

And peer inside
