InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Treason's Emotion ❯ Among the Willows ( Chapter 7 )
Chapter 7 - Among the Willows
A/N: Hehehe... I realize that you are all getting quite upset with all the interruptions that Kagome and Inuyasha are having. Oh well! Too bad. If they weren't interrupted, they would probably have fucked each other by now and then there would be nothing to look forward to, ne? Oh, gomen to all the Kikyou haters for having her ruin everything. I personally like Kikyou, and I think the whole love triangle thing is quite interesting. Anyways, here is the next chapter!

`No! Kikyou can't be here! Why does she have to ruin everything? Inuyasha... please!' Kagome thought desperately, looking up to the hanyou who was still lying on top of her. He, however, was not looking at Kagome. A certain sadness and gentleness came to his eyes, and he stared at Kikyou with a hurtful expression.
`Please Inuyasha! Just look at me! Why is it that whenever that bitch is around, it's like I'm suddenly invisible to you?' Kagome thought, tears forming in her eyes. The scent of salt was what brought Inuyasha out of his daze as he looked down at Kagome, confused at what exactly was happening.
"I wish to speak with you, Inuyasha." Kikyou said, her voice strong and confident. Inuyasha nodded and began to rise from his position with Kagome, but Kagome grabbed onto his arms, holding him as if he was the most precious thing she owned.
"Kagome..." Inuyasha muttered as he freed himself from the young girls grip. Kagome sat there as Inuyasha began to walk away, her mouth hanging open as tears poured down her face. In an attempt to comfort her, Inuyasha gently whispered,
"Shh.. It's okay. Go back to the hut. I'll see you in the morning. Oh, here!" Inuyasha said as he threw his red haori to Kagome. She was still naked, after all. Kagome wrapped the shirt around her and looked up to see Inuyasha leap over to the other side of the spring and follow Kikyou into the darkness of the forest. Once Kagome knew Inuyasha was gone, she broke down into heavy sobs, clutching the haori to her chest and crying into the soft grass.
`He left me. How could he just get up and leave after everything we have been through, pretending like I meant nothing to him? How can I trust him now? He doesn't care about me... he left me for Kikyou! Why would he care? I am only an imitation of what Kikyou is, of course he would leave me for her... I can't believe I was such a fool for believing he really cared for me....' Kagome thought to herself as she continued to cry. She felt like dying, like she wanted to escape the world for treating her so cruel.
`I can't love you anymore, Inuyasha. I just can't...' Kagome tried to convince herself before falling unconscious from the tremendous emotions coursing through her body and soul.
**
`Why are you here, Kikyou? Why did you come now, when I was with Kagome? What could you possibly want? And why did I leave Kagome like that, all alone?' Inuyasha's mind pounded with questions. He had never felt so confused in his life. Ahead of him, he could see Kikyou's elegant form slipping in and out of the trunks of trees, leaving his sight for a moment before reappearing as the moonlight illuminated her pale skin and silky black hair.
`Kikyou... I chose you, not Kagome. Is it you I am destined to be with? Kagome, I'm sorry but I can't lead you on like this any more. Aww shit! Why does my life have to be so seriously fucked up?' Inuyasha scowled, closing his eyes tightly to try to wash away the pain that his heart was emitting.
Kikyou looked back at Inuyasha. She could sense his hurt, his confusion, and it satisfied her.
`He deserves it. It is because of him that I am like this now; in this body with most of my soul stolen from me and residing within that bitch, Kagome.' She narrowed her eyes at Inuyasha, knowing he was unable to see her expression in the dim light. However, when she caught a glimpse of the sadness in his eyes, she felt herself melt slightly. She suddenly realized it hurt to see Inuyasha like this, so confused and emotionally distraught.
`Deep inside, so silently, my heart must beat... Deep inside of me, memories of us together are flickering and shimmering on. Endlessly...' A single tear fell and rolled down her cheek. Kikyou lifted a hand to brush it away and noticed the coldness of her skin, and realization dawned upon her once more that she was no longer alive; that she truly didn't belong in the world that she dwelled in.
`No! I can't let myself think that way! I belong with Inuyasha. Our souls were always destined to be together. If I cannot have you in this world, I will have you in the next. I will have your heart, your soul, and your mind. You shall be mine in the end.' With that Kikyou quickened her pace slightly, aware that she was almost at her destination. Moments later, she emerged in a small clearing containing one large willow tree standing solitarily in the middle. A small stream trickled just at the edge of the clearing, and an assortment of beautiful flowers were scattered in bunches among the grass. Kikyou walked forward and stood underneath the willow tree; branches draping over her shoulders and across her chest. She abruptly turned around when she heard a small gasp come from none other than Inuyasha as he emerged into the clearing himself. He stood there, mouth hanging open slightly and taking in the beauty of the clearing that Kikyou had brought him to. The two of them stood there for a long time, not saying a word and just admiring the scenery as they listened to the trickle and bubble of the stream as it flowed along. Inuyasha's mind began to race and his heart was pounding. The suspense and tension Kikyou was causing him was slowly building up. Eventually he couldn't handle it all anymore, and all the questions and feelings Inuyasha was harboring poured out of Inuyasha's mouth.
"Kikyou, what exactly do you want!? Why did you come when I was with Kagome, and how come you took me away and led me here? I am so confused, you know? I just can't fucking stand it anymore! I don't think I have ever felt like this in my life!" Inuyasha half-yelled to the miko standing only a yard away from him. Kikyou seemed to come out of some sort of daze. Her eyes refocused, and she jerked towards him and tilted her head slightly when Inuyasha addressed her.
"Inuyasha..." Kikyou whispered to the hanyou, smiling slightly.
"Oh no! Don't you fucking `Inuyasha...' me! You couldn't possibly know what I am going through right now; how I feel! You can't just expect me to suddenly act all better once you say my name-" Inuyasha's words were cut off when Kikyou stepped forward and placed a finger over his lips. A shudder raced down Inuyasha's spine, and his hair seemed to stand on end.
"You once said that you loved me. That you cared about me. That you would always protect me and be there for me. Always. But on that day, over fifty years ago, it was you who I saw betray me. Always, you had said. How could I possibly believe that you could betray me like that? I thought you had lied to me about everything... I thought you had lied about your love for me. When I was brought back from the dead you swore to me that it wasn't a lie. That you really had loved me; truly. You swore that your words were not false..." Kikyou trialed off, looking distant and very troubled.
"Always... zutto... that is what you had told me, and you swore it was the truth. Do you still swear it? Do you promise me that your love was and is forever, for always?" Kikyou turned her head and stepped even closer to Inuyasha so that they're bodies were only inches apart. She brushed a hand through his silver hair as she had seen her reincarnation do only moments before. Inuyasha remained quiet, his eyes wide and mouth open slightly. Kikyou took this opportunity to place a small kiss to his lips.
`Kikyou... what have you done to me? Am I really bound to you, always? I told you that I was... that I would always love you. I must keep that promise. Kikyou, I will love you, forever.' Inuyasha thought as Kikyou pressed yet another kiss to his lips. This time, however, the hanyou wrapped his arms around the miko and embraced her to him, returning the kiss. They're mouths glided gently against each others, and Inuyasha widened his slightly to allow his tongue to explore her.
`This is how it will have to be. I promised her. I promised Kikyou.' Inuyasha thought as Kikyou's own tongue flicked against his. Inuyasha pulled back, still holding the miko in his arms.
"Always, Kikyou. Forever." He whispered softly, still clutching the young woman. Kikyou smiled and backed away out of Inuyasha's embrace. She took several small steps backwards, until she was far enough away to see his entire form. She smiled slightly, her eyes containing a look of happiness mixed in with the usual despair. Inuyasha reached a hand out to her, an expression of complete confusion in his eyes and on his face.
"That is all I needed to hear, Inuyasha. I needed... reminding... and I think you did too." Kikyou said in a voice that was barely a whisper. She smiled yet again and gracefully lifted her hand, beckoning her servants. Her Shinidamachuu floated silently out of the willow tree where they had been silently dwelling, awaiting Kikyou's next command. The soul gatherers wrapped themselves around Kikyou's body and slowly began to rise, lifting the miko off of the ground. Inuyasha took another couple steps forward, his hand still raised in front of him and his mouth hanging open.
"Until we meet again, my Inuyasha." He continued to stare after her for what seemed hours until she was completely out of sight. The hanyou's hand fell limply to his side, and he shut his eyes tightly before bowing his head, allowing his silver bangs to fall over his face. No one was there to witness the tiny tear that emerged from the corner of Inuyasha's tightly clenched amber eyes. No one was there to see it roll down his cheek and silently fall to the ground, landing by the roots of the willow tree.
