Cute dress? Check. Matching pumps that made her legs look long and lean? Check. Simple gold chain and earring set? Check. Hair pulled up in a simple yet elegant up-do? Check. Verdict? Fabulous

Kagome did a spin in front of the full length mirror in the corner of her room. The essential little black dress that Jakotsu had insisted she buy for the dinner fit like a dream. It was a simple strapless number, that really showed off her great shoulders and arms. All of that time in the gym paid off! She smiled at her reflection and twirled again, loving the way the skirt of the dress flared out. In short, it made her feel beautiful.

"You keep spinning like that you are going to fall and hit your head. Then where would you be?" She turned to see Inuyasha leaning against her door frame, a small relaxed grin on his face.

"On the floor bleeding until you took me to the emergency room." She twirled one more time. "I just feel so....good!"

He came into the room and sat on her bed. "Well, you look good if it means anything to 'ya." He looked her up and down appraisingly. "Lose the stockings."

"Excuse me?" Kagome whirled around and looked at him. "I think they look sexy, and appropriate for evening."

Inuyasha shook his head. "Bare legs are the 'it' thing now."

She raised an eyebrow. "You, Mr. I Wear What Smells Clean, giving me fashion advice?"

He shrugged his shoulders and a slight blush spread across his nose and cheeks. "I can't help it if I constantly have to hear Sango and Kikyo talk fashion now that you aren't there. I learn things."

"Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks." She approached him and patted him on the head. "Cover your eyes."

Grumbling, he covered his eyes, not wanting to deal with a pissed off Kagome. "What's the big deal? I've seen you naked before. It's nothing special, remember?"

Kagome took off her stockings and flung them at his face. "Nothing special? Just yesterday you were saying that my breasts are the perfect size."

"Pff. At least you aren't a total flatsy patsy. Perfect handful."

Sometimes she wondered if Inuyasha had a death wish. Lately he had begun to push her buttons so hard she wanted to do nothing more than murder him in the most brutal way she could come up with. "And you would know how?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You can't tell me you don't remember one of the first times we went to a party in college. Does me waking up with one of them in my mouth and one in my hand ring a bell?"

"Point taken." All in all, it wasn't exactly an unpleasant way of waking up, just moderately shocking. She was starting to get into it when he called her Kikyo. Even the lightest hints of arousal went to the wind, and she slapped him as hard as she could. She glanced at the clock on her bedside table. "If I don't leave now, I'm going to be late!" Moving quickly, Kagome grabbed her shawl and purse, narrowly missing Inuyasha as she bounded out of the bedroom door. "I'll see you in a few hours!" she called over her shoulder.

As they had arranged, Jakotsu was waiting for Kagome in the lobby of her building. He stood by the the door in a smart suit that was extremely well cut and his hair actually combed instead of teased and feathered. His face lit up when he saw her. "You look fabulous dear!" He warmly embraced her when she met him, kissing both of her cheeks.

Kagome blushed at his comment and took his arm after he offered it to her. "Why thank you, kind sir," she said, doing her best to impersonate a southern accent. "Where will we be dining?" she asked as the exited the building and approached Jakotsu's car.

"Contrary to popular belief, Bankotsu can actually cook and he has prepared a nice dinner for the three of us this evening." Like a perfect gentleman, Jakotsu opened the passenger side door of the small Mitsubishi and helped Kagome in before shutting the door again. After seeing his more feminine side, it was very pleasing to Kagome to see the gentleman under the surface.

The drive to the building was made in good company, with the two discussing their previous shopping trip and the clothes that Jakotsu thought that everyone, man and woman alike, should have in their wardrobe.

When they finally reached the apartment, she was warmly greeted by Bankotsu. "Glad you could make it," he said as he warmly hugged her. "I have everything set up on the balcony."

Kagome followed the two men out onto the balcony. Bankotsu had outdone himself; candles sparkled all around the balcony, the table set was a pristine white, and there was a small stand next to the table that held a bottle of sake and a selection of glasses. Immediately, Jakotsu held out a chair for Kagome for her to sit while Bankotsu returned to the kitchen and began bringing out plates.

"Thank you for having me," she said, gratefully. "Everything looks wonderful."

Bankotsu smiled. "We are glad you could come, aren't we Jak?"

His tone made Kagome a touch nervous. She didn't know Bankotsu as well as she did Jakotsu, but he almost seemed like he could be extremely manipulative.

Jakotsu reached over and took Bankotsu's hand. "Definitely. It's nice to be able to share the company of one of my girlfriends with my boyfriend. Believe me, some of them are a little hard to handle."

"Oh, don't remind me," Bankotsu said, with a tiny laugh. "I've never wanted to kill someone so many times in ten minutes."

Kagome looked between the two men, completely clueless.

Jakotsu seemed to notice how lost she felt. "Shiori," he said. "She drives Bank completely mad sometimes."

"To think I wanted to invite her to our bed," he said with a sigh. "She looked so promising."

"On occasion we like to take a woman to bed with us, for variety." Jakotsu smiled at her. "Actually, that is one reason we invited you tonight."

Kagome gulped down the rest of her glass of sake. "Excuse me?"

Bankotsu threw his head back and laughed, his rich voice filling the balcony. "Jakotsu and I would like to invite you to our bed for a night, possibly more depending on how things turn out. He is quite taken with you."

"I thought you two were gay..." This was not what she bargained for. She was hoping for a nice simple dinner with good company, not a proposition. It was like Miroku all over again, except with class.

"Oh, I am, honey," Jakotsu said, full of his usual flair. "It's Bank over here who enjoys the company of a woman on occasion. I just happen to play along for his pleasure."

Kagome was mildly stunned. "I'm not sure if that is something that I am looking for." Honestly, it wasn't. Settling down was something that she wanted, not sharing a bed with two attractive gay men for kicks.

Bankotsu leaned over onto the table, completely ignoring etiquette and planting his elbows firmly on the table. "So, what are you looking for?"

"Mr. Right," Jakotsu supplied for her.

She almost wanted to chastise him for blurting it. "I'm not looking for Mr. Right, Jak. There is no such thing."

"Of course there is, honey!" he replied. "Don't you believe in the ultimate love stories, where there is always the perfect someone out there for everyone?"

Kagome snorted. "If that's the case, I'll be searching for the rest of my life." She took a sip out of the glass that Bankotsu had refilled for her. "Is it so wrong for a woman to want the husband, two kids, and a dog and have a career? Every man I have ever met has either wanted just sex, hated kids, or wanted to keep me barefooted and pregnant until my uterus finally gives out!"

"What about Inuyasha?" Bankotsu asked. "Haven't you known him since college?"

She nodded. "I am terrified to ruin our friendship."

"Sometimes the best relationships are based off of a friendship." Jakotsu looked over at Bankotsu with a dreamy smile.

"That they do." Bankotsu leaned over and kissed his partner lightly.

Kagome sighed. That's what she wanted. The tender relationship that the two men in front of her shared.

"Love you," Bankotsu whispered as he sat back in his seat, so low that Kagome barely heard it. A light blush developed on Jakotsu's cheeks, something that looked beautiful on him.

"I think I'm going to call it a night," she finally said, standing up. "Thanks for having me. It was nice to have a home cooked meal that I didn't cook."

Both Bankotsu and Jakotsu stood up, each embracing her one by one.

"Glad to see those cooking classes didn't go to waste," Baknotsu commented with a laugh.

Jakotsu hugged her the longest. "We should do this at least once a week! I love dinner parties."

"Just give me notice, and I can pencil you in," Kagome said, winking. She went to the entry way and put her heels back on, leaving her hosts in the living room.

"And bring your dream boat!" Jakotsu shouted.

"I'll make sure to!" she replied, then walked out the door.

"They what?"

Kagome watched as Inuyasha doubled over in laughter, tears running down his face. She was tempted to slap him for his reaction, but now that she looked back on it, it was rather funny. "They wanted me to go to bed with them."

"They are gay!"

"No, Jakotsu is gay. Bankotsu still likes women," she clarified.

"Either way!" he said, laughing harder.

"It's not funny," she said, lightly punching him in the arm. "What the hell is wrong with me? Is a normal boyfriend too much to ask for?"

Inuyasha finally managed to compose himself and leaned back into the couch next to Kagome's slumped form. "If you have two gay men wanting to fuck you, there isn't anything wrong with you."

"Can you be any more blunt?" She felt miffed, and Inuyasha's reaction wasn't exactly what she wanted right now.

Inuyasha nodded. "Just think, if you would have said yes, you would be getting laid right now. You really need it."

Kagome frowned and punched him a little harder than her play punch. "That's not funny. You aren't getting laid either, remember." In a childish move, she stuck her tongue out at him.

"Wanna remedy that?" He waggled his eyebrows at her.

"You are getting as bad as Miroku, you know that right?"

"But only with you, sweetheart!"

She crossed her arms. "Why can't I find a normal man? Is that too much to ask for? A little happiness?"

Inuyasha's eyes darkened a fraction. "Maybe you just aren't looking in the right place."

Kagome rolled her eyes and got off of the couch, headed toward her room. "Yeah, right, Yash. I could look all over Tokyo and still come up empty handed." All in all the night hadn't been a total bust. She had a great meal with great company, even got a lot of her worries off of her chest. Both of the men she dined with were amazing listeners and didn't interrupt, save for Jakotsu's off the wall comments. She couldn't have asked for a better evening. Well, minus the proposition.

While she showered she really did consider what she had talked about at dinner. Maybe Inuyasha would be worth a shot. Knowing them, it would just fizzle out and things would return to normal. They had been through too much together to just end up hating each other if they didn't work out romantically. The biggest factor was fear. Just because she doubted that she could ever hate Inuyasha didn't mean that he didn't hold the power to hate her if something went bad. In all honesty, she didn't know what she would do without him. He had been her constant for nearly ten years. They had their ins and outs like all friends did, but at the end of the day there was always that affection there that Kagome hoped never died.

"Too much thinking," she grumbled to herself. It was giving her a headache.
