Sango and Miroku starred at the now vacant tree tops silently unsure if to follow. Sango thought of Kohaku, no collecting the jewel shards will help set him free, a look of serious determination settled on her face and kicking Kilala's side, the trio tore off after Kagome and Inuyasha.
Setting down in the darkened forest no one made a sound, for all around them was an eerie silence, no animals were to be heard. Inuyasha was at tan anxious readiness with his hand on the hilt of his sword. Miroku gripped his staff tightly making his knuckles white, listening intensely for any sound of movement around them. Sango held onto her Hiraikotsu peering deep in the tree line for the demon with the shard. Kagome still feeling the surge from the shard stepped forward.
"It's this way, I'm sure of it, and its starting to head toward us."
"Heh," scoffed Inuyasha drawing the Tetsusaiga, "I'm ready for whatever it is."
As they all readily waited for the demon to appear, thundering footsteps were heard approaching with great deep snarls and the snapping of trees in half. Shippou figuring it might be better for leave this to the ones who actually had weapons, ran behind a tree, but was still around for moral support.
The darkness of the tree line in front of them faded into a great creature three times their sized. Kagome stared at the massive beast which quite resembled a bear. It's brown fur was all matted by what appeared to be blood and dirt, reeking of fresh blood. The mouth was filled with large fangs being beared and dripping with saliva. It's two large tusks protruded from its lips like fork prongs ready to stab and shred its prey. The claws of this creature was no laughing matter either because jutting out from its massive paws were razor sharp claws at least the size of Kagome. The sight of this beast was definitely foreboding, but they had all taken of worse, Inuyasha could handle it.
"What do you think you are doing in my forest? Perhaps you've all given yourselves up as a meal for me to devour." growled the demon smiling viciously making its eyes gleam an ominous shade of red.
Inuyasha pointed the Tetsusaiga at the demon and laughed, "Heh, like we'd ever give ourselves up to a fat ugly bastard like you! Kagome, where is it!?"
Kagome broke her stare away from the demon, 'oh yea, the shard!'. Looking up and down its body she saw it imbedded in the demon's chest. "It's in his chest Inuyasha!!"
"Too easy..." smiled Inuyasha. Throwing his sword over his shoulder he lunged at the bear aiming for its chest.
