InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Trucker ❯ Chapter 14
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
An: Woah. 62 reviews. Last twelve from the last chapter... Why is it that stories get popular once they hit 13 chapters? Go figure. Anyways, here are some responses.
DrknsIzEvrythng - I did the lyrics by ear, they're bound to be bad. I'm just too lazy to look them up. Kagome is a rather... I dunno, old-fashioned chick. Her saying `omigosh' more fits the innocent char I was trying to portray. And I agree that all those bands are good, but at the times I wrote this and the times I put it up, I had two very different tastes in music. Now that you mention it, I may change the songs... If I feel like it.
MM_Mingler - Koga? ...mebbe... I say nothing!
yashagurl - Me too! >< I watch the anime CONSTANTLY in the summer, so I know these things. Research is handy.
SORRY FOR MAKING YA'LL WAIT SO LONG! I'LL TRY TO UPDATE FASTER, BUT I'M BUSY!! SORRY AND THANKS FOR STICKING AROUND!... Having a hundred reviews would speed me up... hint hint.

Two weeks later...
Inuyasha was getting better, day by day. Apparently what Kagome said (whether recorded or spoken) had hit him hard, and he was determined to get well again. Kagome came in, eyes red, on one of Inuyasha's off days. She'd obviously been crying, but had tried to compose herself well enough before entering his room. He'd noticed the faint trails of tears going down her face, and she evidently saw, because she stopped about halfway to his bed and turned around.
“Kag, what's wrong?” he asked, attempting to stand up on his own. He had most of the feeling back in his leg, but it was still a little awkward, because he hadn't gained it back in certain places. Inuyasha managed to stand and make his way over to her, putting one arm around her while leaning the other on a table for support.
Kagome sobbed, turning her head to his chest and dampening it with her tears. “We're going to lose the apartment, Yash.” she said in a broken voice. Inuyasha blinked and listened to the rest of her lost voice. “I couldn't pay even half of the rent today, and the manager says that if I don't have the money to him by tomorrow we're going to have to move.” Resting her head on his chest, Kagome continued to bawl. “I don't want to lose our apartment, Yasha. It means so much to me, a-and...” She sniffed and pawed at her eyes, trying to end her tears.
“I'll pull some money out of my savings, Kag, don't worry about it.” Inuyasha assured her, keeping his one hand at the small of her back.
The girl shook her head. “Yash,” she said desperately, “That money is for you to get a car.”
“I don't need a car, Kagome. Our town is small enough to walk everywhere, and I use the company truck for my jobs.” he replied, nuzzling her neck. “Besides, I've been thinking. We should go back to college. We could get higher-paying jobs and maybe furnish that apartment a little better.” He smiled down at her and she looked uneasily up at him.
With a light sigh, she nodded her head. “Okay,” she said.
Kagome's problem with the rent wasn't the only one. She had little food in the cupboards and refrigerator -she'd been taking so much time off of work to see Inuyasha that her boss was starting to cut it from her pay. He was usually a reasonable guy until you took off more than your vacation time allowed. Sango had to bring her a few groceries, though Kagome was embarrassed that her buddy had even remembered that she was running out of food.
“I mainly brought snackage, but I think there's some meal material in here.” said Sango. She reached into the paper bags she brought over and pulled out a few boxes of crackers, instant noodles, juice, half a carton of milk, a few pieces of fruit, a few vegetables, and a roll of beef. “That should hold you off for at least a few days, right Kag?” Sango looked up to her teary-eyed friend and a soft look came onto her features as she hugged the girl. “I don't mind feeding you, babe, since no one else can.”
The girl nodded a bit. “Thanks a bunch, Sango. You've no idea how much this means to me.”
Sango smirked in a very Inuyasha-like fashion. “Of course I do,” she said, “After all; food is a girl's passion when she's in emotional turmoil.” She was, of course, referring to Inuyasha. Kagome nodded understandably. “Want me to stay for a movie, cos I brought popcorn too, or should I leave you to gorge?” She asked, placing the food in its proper places.
“You can go ahead home, Sango, if you want.” Kagome said, helping her put away the groceries. “I really do appreciate this, Sango.” Kagome said with a meaningful look.
Sango rolled her eyes and waved it off. “Think nothing of it, babe.”
