Chapter 12 I Miss You

Inuyasha woke up in the middle of the night to find Kagome shivering. He took off his fire rat robe, careful not to wake Kagome up. He pulled her on top of him so she could share more of his body heat and then placed the robe on top of the woman. He gently and carefully cuddled her as she slowed and eventually stopped shivering. He nuzzled his nose into her hair to comfort the both of them.

The next morning, Kagome woke up on her hanyou’s bare chest. She was held firmly in place by his strong arms wrapped around her. Kagome looked up and saw he had covered her with his fire rat robe. She laid her head back down against his chest and inhaled deeply. His forest scent relaxed her. She moved her hand up Inuyasha’s chest into his hair and ended right behind his ear. She slowly started to scratch there with her fingers. Inuyasha unconsciously pushed into her hand from the nice feeling she was creating. Kagome giggled lightly which woke the hanyou from his slumber.

He awoke to Kagome scratching behind his ear. He growled in contentment. “Hey.” He said softly.

“Hey.” Kagome replied back. She snuggled into his chest and Inuyasha hugged her to him.

“Did you sleep okay last night?” He asked. She looked up at him.

“Never better!” She said with a huge grin on her face. He smiled at her and nuzzled his nose into her hair. He breathed in and got a big whiff of her scent. He exhaled with a content sigh. He loosened his grip from around her. She sat up and stretched her whole body. Everything from her arms to her back to her legs, they all needed stretched.

Inuyasha put his hand on her back as she stretched and rubbed up and down. Her muscles relaxed at his touch. Kagome turned to look at him. She was astonished by the sight she was greeted with. Inuyasha was lying with his hands behind his head which stretched his stomach muscles. His toned abs glistened in the morning sun light shining through the small window at their side. His hair lay tasseled around his face. His golden eyes seemed to melt her as she stared at them. ‘His eyes? Crap he caught me staring!’ She shook her head to snap out of her hypnotic state. He smiled at her.

She scooted to the edge of the bed, kicking her legs over the edge. She stood up and stretched again. Inuyasha sat up at this point watching her. Her clothes tightened around her curves as she stretched. Her breasts looked so full and delicious, her waist was so small and petite and her hips were round and inviting. Inuyasha’s human half interrupted his thoughts by screaming, ‘Get a hold of yourself!’ while the demon half taunted his human half with sexual images of Kagome’s body. Inuyasha just grunted at the fighting with himself in his head.

Kagome finished her stretch and relaxed with a sigh in contentment. She turned to her new found love sitting on the bed. She bent down and kissed his lips gently. She rested her forehead on his and closed her eyes. He did the same. After a few seconds, Kagome re-opened her eyes and straightened up. Inuyasha looked up at her and grinned. Kagome gave him her sweet smile that she knew he loved.

“Do you wanna go see about breakfast?” She asked the hanyou.

“Yeah.” He said. He stood up from the bed. “But first…” He said as he wrapped his arms around his woman’s waist and crashed his lips to hers. They played a little tongue war before they separated for air. “I had to get my good morning kisses.” He stated with a playful grin.

Kagome grinned back and kissed his cheek. She pulled herself up onto her tip toes trying to get as close to his ears as she could and whispered, “You’ll have to do better than that.” After she said this, she skipped to the bedroom door and opened it. Kagome looked back at Inuyasha and gave him a playful wink. He smiled back at her and joined her at the door. He grabbed her hand gently and she led him out of the bedroom.

They then entered the kitchen where Kaede, Sango and Miroku had already taken their seats around the table. The three of them turned as Inuyasha and Kagome entered the room. Inuyasha was hit with the smell of freshly cooked bacon and eggs. He inhaled deeply, taking in the delicious smells. Kagome too inhaled the smells and it made her stomach growl from hunger. Inuyasha heard her stomach with his acute hearing. He led her into the kitchen to one of the empty chairs.

“Good morning you two!” Sango said with a bit of teasing in her voice. Inuyasha just gave her a dirty look and turned to make a plate of food for Kagome.

“Did you sleep well?” Kaede asked.

“Yeah we slept great! It was so nice to be able to sleep in my old bed!” Kagome said with a huge grin on her face. She had missed this place she used to call home. Kagome also knew that Kaede would welcome her back anytime she wanted to stay here. She could always call this house her home. Kaede was the closest thing to family that she had anymore. Kaede and Sango laughed and chattered about some gossip of the small town.

Inuyasha filled the plate full of scrambled eggs and strips of bacon. He could sense Kagome’s mood shift from cheerful to sorrowful. He looked in her direction to see her face sadder than before. He carried the now full plate of food over to Kagome. He sat it in front of her and then sat himself down in the seat next to her. Inuyasha never took his eyes off of her. Kagome was too lost in her own thoughts to even notice any of Inuyasha’s actions. Inuyasha frowned. ‘What is she upset about?’ He thought.

Kagome was remembering. She was remembering her life before that tragic day. Her parents, her loving parents that were killed because of her. She had such a perfect life with them. They always showed that they loved her with hugs and I love you’s every day. She had everything a young girl would ever want, loving parents, a nice home, friends, and a date to the prom. Back then, little did she know, that date would lead her to a dreadful and terribly pain that she would ever feel. Her parents were the best to her. She missed them so much. Kagome blames herself for their deaths. ‘It’s my fault they’re gone. I should have never gone to the prom. I should have stayed home with them, and protected them. I could have saved them. I could have, but I wasn’t there. It’s all my fault!’ She cried in her head. Her eyes went gray and the tears began to form. Inuyasha smelt the salt before he saw the tears.

Kaede and Sango were chatting about some healing herbs while Miroku scarfed down more egg.

“Kagome…” Inuyasha whispered into her ear.

“Oh, Inuyasha! I didn’t notice you there!” She said as she whipped the tears from her eyes. She then realized he had brought her breakfast to her. “Aww! Thank you so much Inuyasha! I’m sorry I didn’t notice before.” She told him upset with herself.

“No, don’t worry about me. Are you okay?” He asked worried about her. She gave him the ‘deer in the headlights’ look. She didn’t realize how much he had noticed, or how much she showed for that matter.

“I-I’m fine Inuyasha. I was just thinking.” Kagome told him and her eyes lowered in sadness. Inuyasha placed his clawed fingers under her chin and lifted it so she was looking at him.

“Let’s go outside for a little more privacy.” He said lowly to her. Inuyasha leaned in and kissed Kagome on her lips. She kissed him back and sweetly smiled at him. They got up from their seats and excused themselves from the others. The two walked outside and walked to a nearby bench.

“So what happened in there? You were fine one minute and gloomy the next.” Inuyasha asked Kagome. “What were you thinking about?”

“I was just remembering my parents and my “home.”” She said. “It was all my fault that they’re not here now. If I hadn’t been so stupid, they wouldn’t have died that night.” The tears returned to her eyes. Inuyasha instinctively wrapped his around her and nuzzled her hair.

“Shh. It’s not your fault. You could have never known that would happen.” Kagome lightly cried into his chest, but his wild scent calmed her.

“I miss them Inuyasha.” She wept.

“I know sweetheart. Everything will be alright. I’m here for you. I’ll always be here.” He whispered into her ear to calm her sobbing.

When she finally settled, they hugged for a few moments then re-entered the house.
