Chapter 14 Uninvited
The creek area had lots of greenery and flowers surrounding it. The water was crystal clear and the sun glistened off the surface of it. Kagome’s eyes twinkled from the beautiful view and fond memories of this place.
‘It hasn’t changed one bit.’ She thought. Kagome let go of Inuyasha’s hand and ran for the water she began to strip off her outer layer of clothing to expose her bikini. “Hurry up you guys!” She yelled as she reached the water. The water was warm but still refreshing. Inuyasha saw her body and blushed. He tried to hide the blush but Sango saw it before he could turn away. Sango grinned.
Everyone was taking off their outer layer like Kagome did, but slower. Sango was the next to run into the water and she splashed Kagome as soon as her hands could scoop the water up. They both laughed and giggled with their water fight. Inuyasha and Miroku stood back and watched for a little while.
“Those girls really are something, aren’t they?” Miroku stated, marveling at the two young women’s bodies. Inuyasha growled at him.
“Don’t look at Kagome like that monk. Or I’ll have to rip you to pieces.” Inuyasha said, cracking his knuckles. Miroku raised his hands in surrender. Inuyasha huffed at him and walked towards the water. Kagome saw him enter the water and trudged through the water as fast as she could to reach him. She was laughing and smiling as she pushed towards him. Inuyasha stopped dead in his tracks. His ears twitched and he sniffed the air. His eyes widened when he recognized the smell.
Kagome was still trying to get to Inuyasha and had no clue what was going on. She was too distracted to sense the aura approaching her so quickly. Before she knew it, Inuyasha was kicking a figure away from her from above. He landed in a splash close beside her. She lifted her arms to protect herself from the large splash of water he had caused.
When she dropped her arms, she finally felt the aura she had missed earlier. It was a familiar one. She knew this demon. Horror filled her face and body. Inuyasha was snarling and growling at the submerged demon. Sango had made her way to Miroku and pulled on her clothes. She had brought along her bone boomerang luckily and rushed to grab it.
The demon re-emerged from the water and Kagome’s gut feeling was proved correct. The wolf demon Koga was there. And he wasn’t alone. Kagome felt all the demon’s auras surrounding them.
“Well, well. What a coincidence that I find you here Kagome.” Koga cockily stated. Kagome gasped and started to tremble. Inuyasha took a few steps back so he was closer to Kagome.
“It’s-It’s Koga. I didn’t think… Why would he…” Kagome quietly stuttered. Inuyasha heard that name and knew it was the same wolf from her past. Inuyasha growled again.
“What the hell do you want, you mangy wolf?!” Inuyasha yelled. Koga huffed and brushed Inuyasha off with a wave of a hand.
“Stay out of this mutt face. I am only concerned with that retched woman.” He said as he got an evil look in his eyes. Kagome gasped again. She recognized that evil look from that terrifying night.
“Well she’s not interested in talking to you! So beat it before I have to make you!” Inuyasha yelled at the conniving wolf demon.
“Ha, as if you, a half dog demon, could stop my whole pack of pure bred wolf demons!” He laughed. “I don’t think so!” He said as he lunged towards the hanyou and the miko. Inuyasha did the same and cracked his claws for an attack.
“Inuyasha!” Sango yelled as she started to run to help. She was stopped by a group of Koga’s followers. Miroku hurried to her aid. Kagome saw them fighting and Inuyasha fighting Koga.
They were exchanging punches and kicks in the middle of the creek. Inuyasha did his best to dodge the wolf’s attacks but he was so fast. Kagome’s only thought was that Inuyasha and her friends would get hurt like her parents did so long ago.
“STOP!” Kagome screeched. Both of the men stopped and jumped back to separate from one another. Sango, Miroku and the other wolves stopped as well. Inuyasha didn’t turn away from the wolf but looked back at Kagome worriedly. “Inuyasha, please! I don’t want you to get hurt! Not because of me! Please!” She cried and she wrapped her arms around his torso from behind him.
“Kagome.” Inuyasha whispered.
“Then give yourself up stupid bitch!” Koga yelled. “I won’t kill your precious half breed if you willingly surrender yourself to me!” Inuyasha snarled at him.
“I-I will.” She said, releasing her grip on Inuyasha. Inuyasha turned abruptly towards her.
“What?! No! I won’t let you! This flea bag can’t kill me even if he tried. I will protect you. No matter what!” Inuyasha told her. Kagome’s tears ran down her cheeks. Inuyasha pulled her into his chest for a moment, then released her again. “Don’t let these filthy wolves touch you. I’ll be right back. As soon as I take care of Koga.” He said as he turned and leaped at the wolf demon’s leader. “You’re dead!”
Some of the wolves did attempt to come at Kagome but she had created a small barrier around herself to protect herself. Inuyasha would occasionally look over to make sure Kagome was alright and when he saw she was, he could really focus on his battle at hand. “Iron reaver!” Inuyasha called out as he swiped at the wolf. His claws skimmed the wolf’s leg as he tried to jump out of the way. “Gotcha.” Inuyasha said. Blood gushed from Koga’s legs and he limped back away from the hanyou. Koga growled in pain.
“Fall back! Let’s get out of here!” He yelled. A couple of his men hurried to his side and helped him get away. Inuyasha growled.
“Get your flea bitten butts back here!” He yelled. He started to chase after them, but was stopped when he heard Kagome whimper and a splash. He whipped around and rushed to her side. Kagome was on her knees in the water sobbing into her hands.
“Kagome, are you alright? You’re not hurt, are you?” Inuyasha asked her franticly checking her for wounds. He found none and helped her to her feet. Kagome through herself into his arms and sobbed into his chest. He wrapped her in his arms and tried his best to comfort her.
Inuyasha helped Kagome out of the water and put a towel around her. Sango dried herself off as well then got dressed again. Miroku put his shirt back on and Inuyasha did the same. Inuyasha helped Kagome get dry and then helped her put her clothes on. She was still crying, but not as hard.
“We need to get out of here before they decide to come back.” Inuyasha told them. He picked Kagome up onto his back and made sure Sango and Miroku were ready. The only thing any of them heard from Kagome was whimpers and cries. Inuyasha whimpered himself at the sound of Kagome’s agony. They all were quiet the whole walk back to the house.
When they finally reached Kaede’s house, they hurried in, shutting and locking the door behind them. Kaede was shocked by their haste. She saw Kagome and worry covered her face. Inuyasha put her to bed and comforted her until she dozed off. She had used a lot of energy creating the barrier and she was mentally exhausted as well. When she was peacefully asleep, he went into the living room. Sango was petting Kirara while Miroku had his arm around her shoulder. Kaede still had her worried look. Inuyasha sat on the couch across from the loveseat. He was deep in thought.
“How is Kagome doing?” Sango asked, breaking the silence. Inuyasha looked up at her, then back to the ground.
“She’s still really shaken from this whole thing.” Inuyasha said. Sango gave him a questioning look.
“Was she really that scared? Those wolves had no chance in beating us.” Sango asked, still confused.
“So she hasn’t told you guys yet.” Inuyasha said, closing his eyes with a sigh. Kaede took in a deep breath. “Kaede, would you mind telling them? I don’t think I can handle telling that story right now.”
“Ay. That wolf demon tribe was the one that killed Kagome’s parents.” Kaede told them. Sango and Miroku gasped. “She went to her prom with the leader and he attempted to take advantage of her. when she purified one of his followers, he killed her parents.”
“Oh my! I had no idea!” Sango said, still shocked.
“So, she’s most likely as shocked as we are to see this Koga now after all this time?” Miroku asked, pondering the situation.
“Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.” Inuyasha said. His finger began to tap anxiously.
“What do we do now? We can’t just sit and wait for them to attack again.” Sango said. Inuyasha just nodded.
“We need Kagome to be in a better place though. She’s already in shock and depression. She needs a little time to recuperate.” Miroku stated.
“Ye all can stay here as long as ye need to.” Kaede told them supportively.
“Thank you Lady Kaede.” Miroku thanked her. “That is very kind of you.”
Inuyasha stood up and walked out of the room. He couldn’t be away from Kagome any longer. He quietly opened the door and found Kagome still sleeping. He sighed with relief. He walked in and shut the door behind him. He sat on the edge of the bed and swept her bangs away from her face. He felt the perspiration on her forehead and worried. Kagome would occasionally whimper and toss and turn.
‘She must be having a nightmare. I wish I could help her. I hate when she feels so sad.’ Inuyasha thought to himself. He carefully laid down next to her. He gently wrapped his arm around her waist and rubbed in circles in an attempt to comfort her.

She stumbled home from the awful experience she had just had. She was very weak and had no idea of what she was about to see. She opened the front door and stumbled in. She shut the door.
"Mom... Dad..." She said crying. She searched the living room, kitchen, and then she went upstairs to see if they were in bed. It was really late and she figured that's where they would be. But their bedroom light was on. She sighed in slight relief that she could talk with her parents that night and not have to wait till morning. She wobbled over to the door and swung it open. Blood was covering the whole room. She gasped. She walked in the blood covered room and turned the corner around the bed. There on the floor lay her mother and father's lifeless bodies. She shrieked in terror. "No!" She screamed. She rushed to their side and tried to lightly shake them awake. "Mom! Dad! Wake up! Please!" She begged with tears streaming down her face.
'This is that night! They're dead!' She thought. Then, something... different happened. A wolf grabbed her by her waist and lifted her off the ground. She kicked and screamed to try and get out of his grasp.

Inuyasha didn't know what to do. She was screaming and she was struggling to get away. He held her tight but gently.
"Kagome. Kagome. You need to wake up. It's just a dream." Inuyasha said, firmly but kindly. He didn't want to scare her any further. He got on top of her to hold her down and tried to calm her by rubbing her arms. He pressed his body against hers and whispered quietly for her to wake up in her ear.

The wolf demon had her pinned to the floor. She could barely move. She kept screaming in hopes that help would come. Then she heard a whisper in her ear. She looked over and found no one. 'That voice. I know that voice. I want to follow that voice.' She thought. She heard it again and she stopped her screaming. 'Who is he? I feel safer hearing his voice.' When she was calmed down, the wolf disappeared. Instead she was standing, being embraced by a man with silver hair and red clothes. She hugged him hard. "Inuyasha." She whispered.

Kagome stopped screaming and hugged her arms around Inuyasha's torso. She whispered his name and Inuyasha grinned. Her eyes fluttered open and felt Inuyasha's weight on top of her. She smiled and snuggled into him once again. After a moment, he lifted himself off of her. The others had rushed into the room at that point and all had worried looks. She looked at all of them and was curious why everyone was in her room now.
"Is everything alright?! Are you hurt Lady Kagome?" Sango asked in a panic. Kagome blinked in confusion. Inuyasha saw her face and interrupted before Kagome could get embarrassed.
"She's alright. She was just having a bad dream. You guys can go relax. I'll be here to take care of her." Inuyasha told them. The three of them sighed and relaxed. They returned to their seats in the living room.
Kagome sat up and rubbed her forehead. Inuyasha pulled her into his chest. "Are you okay?" He whispered. Kagome was surprised but she snuggled into his chest.
"You said it yourself, I just had a nightmare." She sighed. "Thanks for waking me up though." She said with a sad grin.
"Kagome, I don't really mean about the dream. Are you okay?" He asked again. Kagome nestled her head into his clothes and pulled him down to lay on top of her again. He nuzzled her neck and Kagome giggled.
"Yeah, but I'm just sleepy. Will you stay here with me?" She asked shyly.
"Of course I will." He whispered. Kagome relaxed and cradled Inuyasha in her arms. Close to her heart.
