Six months into their journey, the group was camped out far, far from the village that had the Bone Eater's Well. Kagome had now been away from home for almost three weeks, and they were heading back now.

Inuyasha and Kagome were sitting together on a hill, watching the stars and just talking. But... at the moment, there was somewhat of an awkward silence. Kagome looked over at Inuyasha only to find that he had been staring right back at her. She hummed a bit.

 

 

“Inuyasha?” she asked quietly, trying not to wake Shippo, who was sleeping a few yards away.

Inuyasha sighed, looking up at the sky. “Kikyo was my first love, Kagome. You know that.” Kagome nodded, looking back up at the sky. “I have to remember that... but she's gone. I realize that. My heart still aches for what she did... And sometimes, I find myself crying for her. But if you want... I'll try to love again.” His hand rested on top of hers and Kagome was silent, staring into Inuyasha's eyes.

Kagome smiled. “The first cut is the deepest because it's the one that you learn from.” she said, turning over her hand and squeezing his. “I'll be here when you're ready, you already know that.”

 

 

“Does that mean you won't leave when all this is over?” he asked hopefully.

Kagome looked back to the stars. “I may have to finish high school, but I'll come back. I always planned to come back.”

Inuyasha smiled, putting his hands back folded behind his head. Kagome smirked and wiggled over closer to him. He didn't make a move; he just looked at her out of the corner of his eye and smirked on the end of his face that she couldn't see.

 

 

“Hey, Inuyasha?”

 

 

“Aa?”

“If you're... y'know... not ready, I understand.” she said, moving to get up. He hooked a finger in the back of her collar and pulled her back down, putting his arm around her, rolling over halfway and kissing her full on the lips.

 

 

“I'm game.” he said, lying back down.

“Oh, you brat.” she said, scowling at him.

 

 

He pouted playfully at her and she smacked him across the chest. He winked. “You love me and I know it.” She leant over and kissed him.

 

 

“You're right. Aishiteru.” she winked and lay back down.

 

 

“Mo aishiteru.” he said back.

 

 

“I knew it.” she said with a triumphant grin.

 

 

“Shut up...” he muttered.

 

 

“Make me.” she retorted.

 

 

“Okay!” Inuyasha's hand crept over and began tickling her.

 

 

“Ah! Inuyasha you sneak!”

The sounds of giggles and uproarious laughter filled the air. “Miroku! Let me go!” squealed Shippo.

 

 

“This is not something for children to see.” said Miroku, his hand still over Shippo's eyes as he and Sango spied on Inuyasha and Kagome.

 

 

“It's about damn time.” said Sango, crossing her arms and smiling at the scene.

 

 

“I agree.” said Miroku.

 

 

Sango was suspicious of Miroku, but he wasn't doing anything... yet...

 

 

“AH! HENTAI!” she slapped him hard and bopped him on the head, making him fall over. Kagome and Inuyasha both froze and looked over in the bushes.

 

 

“Pssst... Inuyasha...” Kagome poked Inuyasha, “We've been spied upon!” she hissed.

 

 

“Sou ka...” Inuyasha picked up two rocks and chucked both of them into the bush, exuding two yelps and a string of curses as an outraged Sango and almost K.O. Miroku came out of the bushes. Shippo, being the smart one, stayed behind at the tree.

 

 

Inuyasha was ready to tackle Miroku, but Kagome took his hand and yanked him back toward camp. “C'mon, you guys, let's go eat.”

^^ had to use the classic `this is not something for children' line coming from Miroku as they spied... classic, I tell you, classic.... Since I'm writing so many songfics lately, I'm just starting up my random pile of them because most of them are pretty good. ^^ I like this one cos it's one of my fave songs. Technically, Feeling This is a songfic with a ramshackle plot, but most of these are just little one-shots. I'll let you know if they're not.

Mou - Really

Aa - masculine response meaning yep or yeah

Aishiteru - more passionate way of saying I love you

Mo aishiteru - I love you too

Sou ka - I see
