Twelve Days: A Christmas Story
On the Third Day of Christmas

Miroku stretched his legs out into the heat of mineral rich water. Leaning back to submerge his shoulders, he admitted to himself it had been an interesting day. Kagome-sama had gone back to her own time briefly, bringing back Christmas treats for all of them. He'd sampled everything from rice crackers to chocolate, but personally he'd favored the rings of dried fruit she'd called pineapple. He'd ask for those again. Sitting up amidst the wisps of rising steam, he reached over to where Kagome-sama's other gift waited. The soap was a very practical luxury. Working up a soft lather, he smoothed the cleansing foam across his chest and down his torso. Bubbles clung to hairs as he kneaded his way down the lean length of his legs. Submerging to rinse, Miroku ran fingers through his unbound hair. Despite the day's niceties, he couldn't deny being a little disappointed. His mysterious gift-giver hadn't turned up. Rising from the hot spring, Miroku sloshed over to the opposite edge for his robes. Mid-reach, he halted. There, centered perfectly on the dark fabric of his under-robe was a shell. He picked it up, fingering the rough underside while admiring the vibrant shades of blue and violet that gleamed from within. It was nearly the same color as his robes…and his eyes. When it finally occurred to Miroku that someone had snuck up on him while he was bathing in order to leave it, his low chuckle of appreciation matched the light in his eyes.
