~*~ Chapter Two: Through Pictures
Kagome moved along the tracks of the railroad station, the dawn shining up behind her. She had gone home shortly after the proposal she had photographed. Again, the same song blared through her portable music player.
Oh you know I have seen…a woman of means in rags and begging for pleasure…
Crossed a river of salt just after I road a ship that sunk in the desert
And I have seen…darker then ebony…
And now it seems that I without your eyes could never be
~
The young photographer kept her wits about her as she warily made her way through a darker part of town. One headphone kept behind her ear as she made her way through the streets. When a female voice called out to her, making her turn abruptly, her face suspicious.
“ Hello there sweetie.” The woman catcalled, her brown eyes half lidded, her fingers curled in a come hither fashion. To the boy behind her. Turning, she stepped out of the way, her breath hitched in her throat as she gazed at him.
He had amber eyes and long silver locks that were tied in a low ponytail. His face held a smirk as he regarded the pleasure starved woman before him.
“ Aren't you that musical artist, Kikyo?”
The woman frowned before looking at him seductively, her tongue sliding through her overly painted red lips, her eyelashes thick with mascara beckoning him to her.
“ To think someone like you would fall so low…” The boy murmured, shaking his head in disgust and pity, before turning on his heel and walking off. Stopping a few feet before Kagome, his eyes regarding her over his shoulder.
“ You shouldn't be around here.”
“ What do you mean? I have every right to be her-“
“ I mean, this place is dangerous. I'll walk you home you stupid wench.”
“ Why should I trust you?”
“ Because the world is a crazy place and you seem sane. Either that or hang with this broken woman. You decide.”
Kagome flitted her eyes between the shattered whore and the tall boy before her, indecision flickering in her eyes. When the woman spoke, her red lips moving slowly, calling the young photographer like a siren to a sailor.
“ But if you come with me. You could afford more then just a disposable camera. Just take my hand, and I'll hook you up.”
The girl stopped, her hand tightening around her camera. The thick red lips, cheap mascara and pathetic posture.
“ Yeah, a camera for my dignity? No.” Turning, Kagome ran up to the stranger.
“ I'll go with you.” She whispered.
Wails from Kikyo filled her ears, the pain and torment of chances lost and despair making her wince. Turning, she watched wide trails of gray fall from her eyes, her tears mixing with her nauseous layers of make up, her midnight black hair falling in waves about her face.

“ Let's go.” Kagome whispered brokenly, not objecting when the stranger took her by the hand and placed her on his back, leaping out of the district.
~
Looking down as she clung to his back, she spotted a strange formation down below. Streaks of salt and a hull of a rusty ship sticking from the ground, children climbing the structure and sliding down the sides. If she squinted hard enough, she could have sworn she saw the flash of a red haired kitsune.

“ Oi. Hold on, or do you want to die for the sake of your hobbies?”
“ No. But, what's your name?”
“ Read the guitar case.”
Glancing over at the black case beside her, she saw Japanese letters in red thread on the guitar's case. She mouthed the words silently before voicing them questioningly.
“ Inuyasha?”
“ Yeah. And who are you, you psycho photographer?”
“ Kagome.”
“ Want some ice cream?”
“ Uh…okay.”
~
Taking deep licks from her rocky road ice cream cone, the two acquaintances made their way down the walk. When she felt something tug at her hand, and a familiar object was gone.
“ HEY!”
“ Nifty little portable you got here.” Inuyasha commented, gazing thoughtfully at the contraption in his grasp.
“ Can I take some pictures of you?”
Kagome blushed slightly.
“ Um…sure.”

“ Do you like taking photos of me eating?”
Inuyasha shrugged.
“ It's all your doing.”
Kagome rolled her eyes when a piece of paper flew out from her bag and out into the sky. Her eyes widened and she leapt up, running after it. Her arms outstretched and her hair flying out like dark angel's wings behind her.
Blush.
Twist.
And click.
The girl finally grabbed it and ran up, her eyes alight with victory and a pleasant rosy hue to her face. As she came closer, she waved the card in victory.
Twist.

The two played around an amusement park, tossing the camera between the other. Taking pictures of people they saw or each other. The moon was full and glowing warmly above the two, both watching the waves of the shore as they sat on the warm sands.
“ Today was fun.” Kagome started, gently placing her head on the boy's shoulder. Who promptly blushed darkly.
“ Yeah, it was.”
Kagome looked up and beamed up at him, opening her eyes, crimson washed over her face at the sheer emotion in those eyes of his. A deep honey gold, glimmering in the moonlight.
“ Inu-“ He took her face his head hands and kissed her softly, making her drop the camera.
Click.
-2 years later-
Kagome gazed out the window, her heart heavy after rejecting Hojo's abrupt proposal. He was a sweet tempered boy, but not like the one she had lost all those years ago. She missed him terribly and still kept the photos they took together with her everywhere in the same tan purse. He had ensnared her, with those eyes.
The plane landed.
And she was off, urging the taxi man to hurry as much as possible. Her hands were trembling as they pulled up in front of a small house. Shoving a wad of bills at the driver, she grabbed her bag and stood at the foot of the sidewalk, her CD player playing softly in her bag.
My one desire all I aspire
Is in your eyes forever to live
Traveled all over the seven oceans
Came from Behain got to Beirut
Looking for someone comparing to you
Tearing down windows and doors
But I could not find eyes like yours
Her eyes wide, she gently pressed the doorbell, her heart pounding in her ears as she heard footsteps coming toward the door.
A click.
A creak and a gasp of surprise as the familiar gold eyes gazed at her.
“ Kagome-“
“ Don't.” She murmured, placing a finger on his lips, her eyes sad.
“ Why did you leave?”
The boy winced.
“ I had to.”
“ Why?”
Because I had fallen in love with you. And I was already with someone.
“ I was taken.”
“ And you kissed me?” She accused, tears forming in her eyes.
“ She cheated on me.”
“ Who?”
“ Kikyo.”
“ You mean, that woman was really?”
“ Yes. I knew I had witnesses so I pretended I didn't know her and pretended she was famous.”
“ Were you guys a band?”
The boy nodded, pain etched on his face.
“ Was I a replacement?”
“ No. That's why…”
“ You ran.”
He gave her a pained look, trying his damnedest not to take her into his arms. He needed to know one thing from this girl. The one with the wide stormy eyes, easy smile and knack for photography.
“ Why did you come after me?”
“ I love you.” She said simply.
His eyes widened.
“ I still have the pictures. And I can see the look in your eyes when you looked at me. The way you photographed me when we were at the amusement park. And…”
“ And…”
“ I couldn't let you go. I couldn't find anyone like you. I fell in love with you in one day and through pictures. Is it just me or do I sound like a sappy romance novel?”
Inuyasha gave her a half smile, before dipping her and kissing her, leading her inside and shutting the door behind them.
