Kagome stood a few yards away from Kikyo, her brown eyes glittering with determination, her black her hair blowing wildly in the wind. Kikyo was looking at her, eyes full of pure hatred, her hair blowing, "You are nothing. You are just a replacement, a replica, a copy of me. Inu Yasha only keeps you around because you remind him of me, you are nothing to him" Kikyo yelled to the girl. Kagome could feel her eyes water and tears threatened to spill over, "NO! I'M NOTHING LIKE YOU!" She screamed. Kikyo strung an arrow and aimed at Kagome, the arrow was glowing brightly, "I am back now, Inu Yasha has no use for you, copy" Kikyo let the arrow fly, it glowing brightly. Kagome quickly moved to the right, the arrow barely touching her school uniform.

"Damnit!" Kikyo strung another arrow, "Kagome… K-Kikyo!" Kagome turned her head and saw Inu Yasha, standing there staring in disbelief. She gasped, "Inu-" Her gasp of surprise turned into a scream of pain as her chest was pierced with Kikyo's arrow. Kagome screamed as she fell to the ground, on her back looking up at the sky. She could not help but scream as Kikyo's miko energy burned her chest. "Yes…" Kikyo whispered.

"KAGOME!" In an instant, Inu Yasha was at her side. "Inu Yasha…" She smiled sadly, even though tears were running down her cheek. "Kagome…. Hang on… I'll take you to your time and get help for you" He picked up her hand and cried, his tears falling into her hair. "Please, pull it out Inu Yasha" She whispered. He nodded and put his hand on the arrow and pulled on it, she winced and gasped. "I'm sorry…" He whispered. He pulled it out quickly and laid it beside him.

"I'm sorry" She whispered to him. He looked down at her and knelt down, putting her head on his lap, "Sorry? For what?" He asked her. "Keeping you from Kikyo.. atleast when im gone, she can have her soul back-" "NO! You never kept me from her, She's DEAD, Kagome. Okay? She's DEAD, I know in the past I didn't really get that, but I get it now. You're everything Kikyo wanted to be, you're the part of Kikyo she hid from the world, the part that I fell in love with. You, you're different from her! You don't hide yourself or keep yourself locked up, you let the world see who you are. That's why I love you Kagome!" Kagome's eyes widened in surprise, "I… love you too Inu Yasha… It's hard even keeping my eyes open… im scared…" She whispered, then her eyes closed. "Kagome?!" He checked for her pulse and sighed in relief when he found it, but it was very faint, and he saw her life blood flowing from her wound.

"Arent you going to thank me? Inu Yasha" He turned around and faced the woman he once loved, "For what?" He hissed. "Getting my copy out of the way" She said and smirked. Inu Yasha stood up and yelled, "SHE AND YOU ARE DIFFERENT! SHE IS EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO BE, EVERYTHING… that I fell in love with…" Inu Yasha ended in a whisper. Kikyo's eyes narrowed, "I WONT allow that bitch to take you away from me…" She walked up to him and put her arms around him, "You love me, Inu Yasha… just admit it…." She whispered. "I loved you, but now I love Kagome… and since I loved you… I will set your soul free!" He thrust the arrow that he took from kagome's chest and pierced her with it, getting her heart. "Inu Yasha…" She fell limp in his arms. "I'm sorry Kikyo… but its time I let go…" Orbs of light began to leave her body, going in all directions, 1 into Kagome.

He picked up his love and used his demon speed and ran. "Was that Inu Yasha? Where is he going?" Sango asked. "Let's follow him! I think I saw him carrying Kagome!" Shippo said. "Kirara!" Kirara turned from a two-tailed cat into her large demon form. Shippo, Sango, and Miroku jumped on and Kirara followed the scent of blood.

Inu Yasha jumped through the well and ran like hell out of the shrine towards Kagome's house. He pounded on the door. The door opened, "Oh, cool! Mom! Inu Yassha's here… Kagome?" Miss. Higurashi came running and smiled but the smile quickly left her face as her hand went over her mouth, "Oh Dear God…" "We have to get her help!" Inu Yasha said in a panicked voice. "Souta! Call 911, then get Inu Yasha some normal

Clothes. Inu Yasha, come in!" Mrs. Higurashi layed a plastic sheet(from souta's bed wetting days….) and layed it on Kagome's bed then Inu Yasha layed Kagome down. Ms. Higurashi took off Kagome's shirt and a light blush crept up Inu Yasha's face, "Give me that cloth" Inu Yasha handed Kagome's mom a blue cloth, "Alright, you should leave the room now, ask Souta for clothes, he should have searched through his father stuff, that it if you'd like to go to the hospital. When you get dressed, hurry and go downstairs" Inu Yasha nodded and left. Ms. Higurashi took off her daughter's bra so she could reach the wound, "Oh my …" She took the cloth and used it as a bandage, then put her daughter's shirt back on.

Inu Yasha groaned, "this looks stupid" He was wearing black jeans that were kinda baggy on him, and a black shirt with a red dragon. Souta put a baseball cap on Inu Yasha to hide his ears.

Inu Yasha and Souta ran down the steps, the ambulence got there seconds later. Ms. Higurashi was holding Kagome, the EMT's took her and put her on a stretcher then hooked her onto oxygen. "Her pulse is weak, what happened and for how long was she losing blood?" "She was stabbed in the chest, maybe for about…" Inu Yasha thought for a second, "40 minutes" Ms. Higurashi said. They nodded and pushed the stretcher outside and put her in the ambulence. Ms. Higurashi, Souta, and Inu Yasha climbed in, and the whole time they tried to get her condition stable, Inu Yasha held on To her pale hand.

After hours of waiting, Souta had cried himself to sleep on his mother's lap, and Inu Yasha was sitting there, emotionless, his yellow eyes distant, as if trying to reach kagome. A male doctor entered the waiting room, "Kotori Higurashi?" Ms. Higurashi nodded, "Is Kagome alright…?" "The wound was very deep, but luckily it barely missed her heart… we stitched the wound, and she'll be fine but we'll keep her tonight for observation" "Can we see her?" Everyone's eyes were now on Inu Yasha who hadn't spoke since they left the Higurashi's house. "She's sleeping" "I wont disturb her… please, I have to see her" The doctor looked at Ms. Higurashi; she nodded, "Come this way"

When the doctor left, Inu Yasha grabbed a chair and pulled it up next to Kagome's bed. He took one of her hands in his and cried. "I'm sorry Kagome, if I had of let go of Kikyo earlier…" "You loved her… its not your fault… I shouldn't have let myself be distracted" Kagome mumbled and opened her eyes. "Kagome… I thought I lost you" He whispered. "Silly puppy… it'll take more then that to get rid of me" She took her free hand and scratched his ears. He purred then kissed her, "Mmm… im tired…" She whispered. "Go sleep… I'll be here when you wake up" "Promise?" "Promise" Kagome closed her eyes but kept hold of Inu Yasha's hand. He smiled and leaned back on his chair, holding her hand; before he knew it he was asleep. A nurse pushed open the door, "Visitng hours are-" She stopped and smiled at the scene before her, Miss Higurashi then entered the room, "Leave them, he wont disturb her" She whispered. The nurse nodded and closed the door. `That's strange, I didn't notice ears on his hat before…'

"Why me, Inu Yasha?" Inu Yasha's ears twitched and his eyes opened, two glowing gold orbs in the dark room. "What?" "Why? You always called me `bitch' or `wench', and you compared me to Kikyo…" "Now, stop right there Kagome. When Sesshoumaru addressed you, what did he call you?" Inu Yasha asked her. Her eyes showed that she was totally confused. She lowered her voice and sounded deep and grumpy, "My half-brother's wench or bitch" He chuckled and she giggled. "Alright, now, if he called me Inu Yasha, what would you be to him?" "Inu Yasha's wench or Inu Yasha's … OH!" She burst into laughter then playfully hit him. "What about the comparisons?" "You two looked so alike, but acted so differently, I was usually comparing you two, but you always came out on top…" She smiled and closed her eyes once more. "Anymore questions, sweetheart?" Inu Yasha asked. "Nuh uh" Kagome whispered sleepily and yawned, "Good, because I'll try to never leave your questions unanswered"
