InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Unbreakable Hearts ❯ The Dawn of a New Day ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

I sped past the many dead and alive people, almost slipping on the watery blood that seemed to keep raining down from every direction. Hearing the awful cries of many young and elderly villagers who had once lived a peaceful life until now.

I was wrong to think I could ever be treated with the respect I wanted, and now I was going to live a lie.

The Dawn of a New Day

This light that's making my head hurt even worse, what is it? I can't take this burning heat anymore. Opening one eye I could barely see the bright beam of sunlight hitting my face. It was so damn bright and hot. Trying to push the other open I laid my hand upon my forehead. Sniffing at the slightly dewed air I could smell a mixture of blood and dirt. Oh, how that smell sickened me so. But it was obviously coming from me at the time.

Now turning my head in a more comfortable position in the wet mossy grass, I tried to remember what went on the night before. Oh, yes, I remember now. How could I had let my demon side get the better of me? It wasn't like myself to give up so easily, and now what am I supposed to do?

I can't just go back to Kaede's village and pretend nothing happened. Walk in the hut and tell my friends that I was simply out for an evening stroll when all of a sudden a big storm hit and I had to find shelter and fast. They'll never believe me, after all I' am known to have a strong ego.

Damn why does everything I do turn out to be so screwed up when I'm finished? It's so confusing. Stop it Inuyasha, this is not the time to give up on yourself again, not now. Oh, who am I kidding no matter what I do it won't help any I might as well stay here and rot. No, no, I have to go back, damn, I'm going and nothing can stop me.

Lifting my body off the ground I shook my head to get the rest of the water and moss that had build up in my ears out. I stretched my aching bones then began to leave.

I was a mess. Grass and dirt cling to my hair. Blood stains still remained on my clothing even though they were red, you could still smell the foul stench of it radiating off of me. Mud so far dug into my nails, it would take a whole hour to get it out. My face wasn't any better. I had mud and grass stains painted across my cheeks. A splash of blood dried on to my neck just above the collar of my inner shirt. Man how am I suppose to get past them, without someone saying something.

I know I could say I got into a fight, yea and I had no choose, but to kill them or it would have been my life. Wait! My sword, Testiaga! (ß don't know how to spell it). Looking all over the ground I finally realized that it was resting at my side like always. Damn, I'm getting paranoid by the second. That's enough I'm leaving.

Thank God for these trees otherwise I would have been baked alive. The suns so hot. No wonder I'm losing my mind. Good thing my clothes are dry though, or I would be smelling so bad right now, maybe I should take a bath first. No, I'll wait, they're probably looking for me right now any ways. Ah, let them look I'm going to take my time.

Hmm, now where is that spring I thought I past a couple of days ago, I know it was around here somewhere. Pushing my way through some brush I finally found what I was looking for. YEA! WATER! Running to the spring I ripped the remaining clothes I had on off and did a big cannon ball into the spring.

The water was fairly cool, but I didn't care as long as it wasn't steaming or warm, there just wouldn't be any point. Splashing waves of water onto my worn out body, I could feel the sudden rush of chills creep up my spine. What a wonderful sensation it was. After cleaning off all of the dirt and grass I moved to my hair. Dunking into the water I suddenly yelped from the coldness that was now getting to me. After moving around a little I got used to it, now it felt good. I scrubbed what I could out of my hair and tried to clean the smell away, it worked a little, but I could still smell it. Good thing they're humans.

Finally I was finished cleansing myself, now it was time to leave. Slipping back on the remains of my clothing I headed for the village. 'What a calm day', I thought to myself. To bad it won't stay like this forever.

Reaching the village I noticed many of the villagers were getting all ready for summer to hit. Spring was almost ending, yet it didn't feel so hat anymore.

I crept up to Kaede's hut, putting an ear to the shoji. I really couldn't hear anything until a sudden whisper appeared.
