Kagome readied herself after her bath to return to the fuedal era to return the shards to the others.
She walks out to the shrine and slides the door out of the way. She steps down to the well and leans over the well, pausing to think, "I really hope InuYasha wont be with them all, I dont think I could take seeing his face..." She huffed, "I can here him now "Why are you back! You told me you werent coming back, wench!" Or worse..."Go back to your time Kagome, I've chosen Kikyo to stay with us and fix the jewel, Now hand over the damned shards!" She felt the tears begin to biuld up, "Maybe, I shouldnt go back...but, my school books are in there, and they're not exactly cheap to renew."
She sighed, "Well its now, or never I suppose." She crawled over the well, and sat on the rim of it, feeling the pain in her heart as she scooted off and fell into the well. She climb up and out of well, and began to walk the long way to the village.
A overly large dead log lay in the way of the path. Undiscouraged she climbed on to the log, and as she slid down off it, a sharply edged twig peirced her skin, and sliced the large wound onto her thigh. She dropped to her knees as it bleed, she softly whimpered and sat down, keeping her wounded leg off the ground.
"Why me..." Tears flooded down her face by the irony of being wounded on a day like this. Blood steamed down her leg. She pull a handkercheif from her skirt pocket and tied it tightly on the wound as best she could, hopeing, thinking it was no big deal.
She hid the limp as she walked, her thigh throbbing. Kagome soon found the group of her friends gathered in Keade's hut. Shippo cried out her name with excitement of her return.
Without responding to the call of her name from the kitsune, she handed Sango the bottled jewel shards.
Startled, Sango spoke, "Why are you giving me these?"
"Sango, I'm not coming back to this era. Not ever." Kagome spoke, her face expressionless. In turn, frightening the group.
"But why, Kagome-sama?" Miroku demanded lightly. A stunned fox demon and a paralized slayer staring up at Kagome.
"Ask the damned hanyou." Kagome turned her back to the group, feeling th tears flood her eyes again. She reached over at her backpack that lay against the wall and heaved it over her shoulder. Without looking back at the sorrow-filled eyes behind her she spoke calmly, "Goodbye my good friends. I've had an amazing journey with you all but now, we must part." Kagome quickly strode out of the room, feeling warmth trickle down her thigh.
"Kagome, Your leg!" Sango shouted as her friend she held so dearly like a sister left the hut. Sango got up but Miroku blocked her with his staff. "Sango, you must let her go, Kagome's made her decision, there's nothing we can do." Shippo became to weep, and jumped into the slayers arms for comfort.
Kagome walked fairly fast to the well, but once she had got to where she wanted, dreaded, she just stood there for moments on end, scared to leave. She softly whined as the pain in her thigh pulsed through her.
Inuyasha, his senses clogged by his thoughts and regret, He didnt notice he had leaped down meters away from Kagome. He eyes subconscously looked up, directly as Kagome. InuYasha was startled by how drowned out he was that he hadnt noticed his own location.
"K-kagome, What are you doing here?"
Kagome sat on the edge of the well, her eyes diverted down to her legs, tried to hide the tears running down her cheeks. "I've been here for awhile now. I've given Sango the jewel shards, and told them my goodbyes. So now, Goodbye InuYasha." Kagome stood up, and began to crawl over the well.
InuYasha finally smelt the blood fill his nostrils, immediate concern and protection rushed over him, and fluently he skimmed over to Kagome and lightly grabbed her arm to stop her from moving into the well. His eyes wandered over her body, searching for the area where the scent comes strongest. He finally veiwed the gapeing cut in her thigh, covered tightly in a blood soaked handkercheif. "Kagome, what happened?"
Abit stunned, "I slide of a log and a twig just tore into me. Its nothing." She looked back down at her wound she hadnt bother to relook at, and gasped at the flood of pain surgeing through her, viewing the blood gushing from her, she was almost dizzy.
The concern and wanting to rid her of the pain, InuYasha scooped her up bridle style in his arms. "Your mother would kill me if I let you go home with that wound. InuYasha walked to Kaede's healing hut, and found Kaede working to crush herbs into medicine. Kaede looked up to the two, "Oh, Dear Kagome, what happened?"
"Its just a cut, Lady Kaede. May you please rebandage it for me, the sooner the better for me to leave." Kagome whimpered softly, "And something to rid of the pain."
"Of course, Kagome-sama." Kaede gathered the remedies she needed, while heating up tea and serving it to Kagome so the pain would subside as Kaede mixed the right herbs to marinate the wound. InuYasha waited outside, unable to deal with himself.
"Is the pain getting better, Lady Kagome?" The aged woman asked as the sprinkled the wound with the herbs, and began to wrap the wound up properly.
"Yes. Thank you, Kaede. You've worked wonders for me." Kagome sighed with relief as the pain slowly everyother moment. Kaede finished the bandaging, and told her to rest for awhile. She left to hut, And InuYasha slowly walked into the hut, and sat by Kagome.
Silence swept apon the two. Tense by the quietness of Kagome, Inuyasha spoke, "Are you okay now, Kagome?" He felt this would be his only chance to ask for forgiveness, and express the feeling he's held dormiant for her.
"I'm fine now." Kagome answered, eye her closed, trying to relax her lightly throbbing leg. "Once the pain subsides enough, Ill leave later on tonight.
InuYasha smelled the salt of the tears, and guilt panged his heart. He knew this would be his only chance. "Kagome, I really don't want you to leave." Sorrow filled his heart, and began to show in his amber eyes.
Kagome replied weakly, her voice felt like it would vanish, her throat hurt now, "The point is, Why should I stay? I dont need to be here anyway. Lady Kikyo can find the last remaining shards and--" Her speech was silenced by the two fingers pressed against her lips, and he quickly pulled her into his lap, facing him and wrapped his arms around her and softly spoke, "Kagome, I need you here, I don't want you to leave me. Kagome, when you said you were leaving for good, I felt an emptiness wash over me. I now know I've lost my love for Kikyo, I was almost scared to not love her anymore, that I pushed myself to love her, even though you were here. Its because, I didnt want to loose the love I have for you, Kagome. But I just now realised, I trade the love for Kikyo, for the love of you. Kagome, please, dont leave me. I feel so warm, and full around you." He hugged her tightly, embracing her body.
"I-Inuyasha, " Kagome was in utter shock, and wiggled out of his grip, "Do you have a fever?" She pressed the top of her hand on his forehead, worried at the such kindness, and the sweet things said to her.
He shook his head, and lightly took Kagome's hand away from his face, and placed it on her lap, his arms wrapped around her tightly, not planning to let go or let her wiggle out. "Kagome, haven't you noticed I have feelings for you?" He hugged her more, nuzzling his face into her shoulder, breathing her scent. His senses oblivious to the group peeking into the hut.
"Kagome, please dont go. Stay with me, please." His voice soft and tender, his words full of meaning.
Kagome, her cheeks flooded with red, "Okay, Inuyasha. Ill stay, Ill stay with you." She embraced his hug. Inuyasha pulled back alittle, and gazed into her deep brown eyes, and she stared back into the amber swirls.Gazes locked, he leaned over and pressed his lips against hers, and she sweetly kissed back deeply, passionate. The kiss held for moments, and it slowly ended. InuYasha flushed with his own embarrassment as he stood up. Kagome attempted to stand but dropped to her knees. Grinning alittle InuYasha pulled her up and helped her steady. "Lets go the the shards back from Sango.
The gang stumbled back the hut, and Kagome explained to them she would be staying. Sango stood and handed back the jewel shards, smiling. Shippo crying with happiness hugged Kagomes ankle.
"Its spring break in my era, so I have more then enough time to hunt down Naraku with all of you." Kagome smiled.
InuYasha murmured, "We'll wait alittle while till that cut heals alittle more."
