The sun shone over the water as it reflected the images of a demon hunter, a fox kitsune, and a monk as they walked on ward toward the village that they had been traveling toward all day. It was surprizeing how long it had taken to reach this village of Mirokus. He had claimed that there had been rumors that the lord of this village was under a demons spell. The sound of this brightend the monks spirts some what. Removeing the demon spirts was not something he looked forward too, no that part bored him. Always the same scrolls, always the same cursed incantation, and always the same type of demon- one of low class. And he assumed this one to be no different from the rest. And why shouldn't he? He had done countless exterminations in his life time, enough to have lost count very early on in his life. The days of his youth. He remembered them well. He couldn't say that they had held the happiest memories, for he had suffered from a great deal of pain, and at times, it got the better of him. It would creep up on him with out him knowing, and forcefully take him by surprize. He would loom in a deep depression and wonder what made his childhood so bright as he could remember.
The answer lied in the simple fact that what never troubles you as a child, will trouble you later on in life. In the eyes of one so young, the world was yours for the taking, and anything was possible. Fairy tales could come true if only you believed hard enough, and every lecture that the old drunkard had given him was torture to his ears. He gave off a small laugh now, thinking about how he valued the old, wise monks opinon, and listened intently when he would speak of the matters that only a high monk would know. Miroku never had had a chance. He was destained to become a man of the cloth. Had he wanted that at all? It didnt matter, he was what he was, and there was no use in trying to change that. Its not that being a monk bothered him; No, what bothered him was that he had never had a choice.
So why was he happy that he was to this? He had been sleeping in the forest on the cold ground with no shelter other than the nights sky, and the forest of trees that hovered above him while he slept. The ground often, at first, had given him back pains badly, but he had grown used to it as time wore on. He had not expected to meet Kagome. She was like this freak accident that happened to him one, normal day. True, he had kidnapped her, and stolen her shards of the jewel, but she still forgave him, and even asked him to join their group. At first he found the question as nothing more than an act of pity, but he soon learned to use that to his advantage. He would not mind spending his days in the company of a beautiful, young, careing women. But that mattered none now. Kagome was InuYasha, and in truth, he was happy. He cared for Kagome deeply, and for every thing that she has done for him, he wanted her to be happy. Besides, if not for her, he would have never met Sango.
Miroku sighed heavily when he saw the gates to the village. True enough it was a huge looking one, and judgeing by the crops they grew, and the live stock they had, it was a prospreous one. Suddenly, a small kitsune and a women came up near him.
"My, this village looks very wealthy."
"Yes, I have heard that the lord has an abundance of money."
"Hmm." The Young demon slayer said. She was wearing her slaying outfit, implying that work might need to be done.
"Yes, I can imagine why a demon would want to control a lord who has all of this." She commented.
"Hmm." Was all that the monk had said in reply. Today was one of those days.

InuYasha and Kagome trailed off, far behind every one else in their group. They walked mostly in silence, but he never took his eyes off Kagome.
"INUYASHA!" She barked at him. From the moment she woke up, he had been looking at her funny. What was wrong with her that she needed to be stared at for hours at a time, like she was in some type of freak show.
WHAT?" He shouted back, more than a little surprized from her sudden outburst.
"Why have you been stareing at me all day?"
It was true. Shortly after Kagome had fallen asleep, he had woken up. Every instint in him told him to watch over her, and he was not about to ignore them now. He had watched her as she slept helplessly, possibly in danger, and there was nothing he could do to stop it, except watch her like this. Before, she always looked so angelic when she slept. Now, she looked out of place, and confussed. He had grunted, and thought about wheter or not he should wake her. Going aginst it, he watched her sleep, a protective arm wrapped around her, and a gental hand strokeing her side.
When she had awoken, he had shown no signs that he had stayed up half the night. He was, however, a little bit on the edgy side. After all, that can happen to a person when they lack sleep. He was now faceing the girl in question. Her face seemed to soften when his eye lid started to droop.
"You stayed up all night didn't you?" She asked with care in her tone.
"Keh." Was all he could reply, meaning that he did.
"I told you that I was fine InuYasha." She said, her voice soothing and mellow. So much that it InuYasha was feeling threatend that he would fall asleep.
"Kagome, I just-" His word were cut short. She closed the gap that was between them, and had her arms were wrapped around him in a loveing hug. Letting his emotions get the better of him, he hugged her back, much to her likeing.
He had never hugged anyone like he hugged Kagome. When Kikyo and he had first started their love affiar, he had only held her close on a few occasions, and they had always been a little uncomfortable, and some what on accident. Besides her the only other person he could remember hugging was his mother, and that was out of a diffrent kind of love. But when he held Kagome, all these feelings came rushing to him. Suddenly he never wanted to let go. Suddenly, he felt like he wanted more... needed more. Slowly, he moved his hand from its resting place on her upper back, and moved it down a little bit so that it reached her lower portion of her back. Not low enough for Kagome to jump, but high enough that he still wanted his hand to travel down ward. What was happening to him lately? First he was hugging Kagome, then he was feeling up her back? Not to mention that he had been hugging her close to him at night, feeling her soft skin aginst his, listening to her sleep. Had he changed that much?
"InuYasha?" She said as she pulled away. He instintly missed the warmth she supplyed.
"What?" He asked, his voice comming out a little more shakey than he would have liked.
"We should go catch up with the others, I mean, they are gonna start to worry about us."
"Keh, they would come anyway because they are nosey." He complained.
Kagome softly smiled, and InuYasha gave off a small, very faint blush. The two walked on until they found their friends. They had gone to the largest place they could find, thinking Miroku was there. And their predictions were true enough. The came in time to see Miroku close his eyes, uttering some incantation, placeing a spell scroll on the door. The lords house had meerly been inhabiting a demon, and the princess was scared. Miroku had made a mental note to
help calm her fears later on tonight.
"Thank you monk. She will rest a lot easier now, it has been hard for her since her father left on business over a month ago. This will help her much."
"Good, I am most glad."
"Please, the princess wishes that you and your friends stay for dinner, and the night as our guests."
"We will stay only if it is of no bother."
"Of course not." The old head man said.
"Please follow me."
As instructed, they all followed the head man as he lead them into a large room.
"InuYasha, Kagome. When did you join us?" The monk said, pleasure in his voice, as his eye brow raised, he wore with a smug look.
"A little while ago." Kagome answered for them both, breathing out before InuYasha could. His ears twiched, and he turned.
Countless women came in carrying trays and trays full of food.
"This all cant be ment for us." Sango stated.
"Ah, but it is!" Miroku cried at being treated like a god. He loved it and was soaking it up to the fullest
No sooner had he said so, then the princess came forth. She was beautiful. Long jet black hair and she wore a simple robe of pink and orange. She sat next
to Miroku and then cast her deep brown eyes upon him. Almost in a flirtting manner. Sangos eyes raged.
'This is going to be an interesting night.' Thought the monk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The silver haired hanyou sat with his back to the wall of the large room. He observed through sleepy eyes his surrondings. Sango was in a fit of rage because the monk was getting attention from their host, the princess. She had been flirting with him all night, saying curt words and false prasie. What had she wanted? Miroku had yet to drop his 'Will you bear my children' line yet, and this worried InuYasha. Prehaps it was done out of respect? Who was he trying to kid, this was Miroku after all.
The young princess was flaunting herself, and Sango couldnt stand it. InuYasha looked at herm and could just about see the hate seething from her eyes. He knew that Sango could be scary, but this put a fear in him that he had not felt in a long time. Truthfully, InuYasha feared many things. He feared life, he feared death. Loseing those he cared about. And now, he was going to add pissed off females to the list. He made a mental note never to get on her bad side.
Kagome was seated uneasily near Sango. Concern was etched into her face for her dear friend. Even when she was nervous, and embaressed, she still looked amazeing. Sure, the princess was beautiful, but compaired to Kagome she did not stand a chance. Every now and agian she would turn he head, her raven colored hair following her with a short delayed reaction. InuYasha had began to get those feelings agian. The ones where all that mattered was Kagome. And in truth, to him, thats all that did matter. She was beginning to get a slight tinge of anger herself toward the princess. Miroku belonged to Sango, and this person was trying to stop all the work they have done to get their realtionship at now? No way. As if that wasnt enough, she was fidgeting very badly. Kagome turned her face to look at InuYasha. To others, he would look fine, but to Kagome, she saw that he was about ready to drop. She smiled warmly then stood up. The sudden action surprized every one.
"I am going to bed." She yawned out, fakeing her tiredness.
"Good night Kagome." Cherped Miroku pleasently.
"Good night Kagome." Sango said, gritting her teeth.
"Good night." The princess called, as if she was familar with her.
"Night." Kagome replyed in a faking sleepy tone. As she walked by, InuYasha followed.
The princess looked confused.
"Where is he off to?"
"Bed." Miroku called out.
"With that young girl?"
"Yes, he is quite protective if her."
"Are they intended?"
"Um, no, not really."
"Yet they share the same room?"
"Yes. And if you dont mind Miroku, Shippo needs to be moved." Sango spat out angrily.
"Of course."
"Dear princess, I have most enjoyed our time but i fear it must end."
"Oh, I see." She said, her vioce filled with sadness
"So the monster will not come back?"
"No, I destroyed him with the spell scroll. You are most safe."
"Thank you kind monk." She replyed with gratitude. She then turned and walked out the door. Sango watched her leave, rage still seething through her eyes. They almost had a red tint to them.
With out warning, she smacked Miroku across the face.
"Sango? What was that for?" The monk called out in pain and surprize.
"You were all over that women!" She stated, still fumeing.
"Sango, please calm down. It would have been rude if we did not let her stay. We are Her guests." He reminder her.
"You would have done it any way you leetcher."
"Sango, Sango, Sango." He said, shakeing his head side to side. He wore a small smirk upon his face.
"What is so funny?!"
"My dear Sango, are you jealous?"
"Wh...What? Me? Jealous? Are you crazy? I am mad because your such a leetcher!" She said, trying to cover her self.
"Oh. I see." He replyed calmly. The smirk grew some what.
"What?" She said, very irked at this point.
"Nothing, its nothing Sango. Now, please, get some rest."
Her eyes narrowed a little. Then nodded casually. She layed down, and sooner than she expected, her eye lids fell shut, thrusting her into a deep sleep.
'Sango, my dear, sweet, jealous Sango.' The monk said inwardly before heading off to sleep himself.
InuYasha layed on the futon, his arms wrapped around Kagome, as she layed sleeping on her side. He was fighting a loseing battle to stay awake. Even though Kagome had told him it was fine, and to get some rest, he refused to do so while she was like this, still haveing those dreams. The kind that fear in her, and her heart race. He would never forget the night that she had begun to bleed through her dream, the time the nail marks made there way through, the time she had almost died because she could not breath.... He just would never forget.
Her scent was thick in the air. It filled his nostrils and he couldnt help but get lost in the smell. It was as if heaven and earth came together when ever she was near. Trying his best, he thrust his eyes open, only to make them drift lower. He had just lost the battle.
