An arrow was shot.
It hit the demon spider in its right side. It winced in pain, but it did not kill. It whitered up from the arrow, leaveing InuYasha to free himself. It took no more time than the blinking of an eye. Although not dead, it was hurt. Its shooter was good. Aim percise and got a direct hit. But its power was weak. Sure enough, it had it... at one point. Its power, its self defense was increasingly leaveing, on account of lies.
Kagome ran to InuYasha. He was hurt, that much was obvious. His leg was greatly injured, and he seemed in a world of pain. Rushing to his side, she put a hand on his back, as she knelt down beside him. He shivered in the spot her hand touched. But a grin across his face. He didnt even notice her standing, trying to give him comfort.
"Inu...InuYasha?" She called. But he never responded to her. Instead, his eyes gazed up to find the one who had saved his life.
The shooter remained unseen. Hidden with in the trees. The hanyou looked around, and smiled. He knew who it was. In a run, that ended up in a walking limp, he made his way to a tree, and looked into its branches. Kagomes eyes followed the whole time.
A mix of red. A blurr of white. Black smeared in the chaos. Kagome knew who it was.
Kikyo.....
**********************************************
The undead miko looked into the eyes of the living one. They narrowed. Kikyo pointed and raised two fingers. As if scrates, an attack was made upon her. Kagome cried out in pain. The prestist resumed her tasks.
"NO!" Kagome shouted, picking herself back up.
Kikyos looked up once more. Annoyance deep with in her. Agian, she raised two more fingers, and a direct hit aimed at her. This time, Kagome was lulled. She was unconsious.

*********************************************
"....Naraku..."
"Kikyo. How good it is to see you. And on time."
**********************************************
"And just, what plan of action do you plan on strikeing?"
"I have it ready. Is she dreaming?"
The miko closed her eyes for a breif moment, then re-opened them.
"Yes. She is sleep. At the moment, she is at the cross over. She doesnt know who she is."
"Good. We shall take it from there."
"What." She said with a smirk. "Shall I do next?"
"Let her think a while. Let her become known in this place. Is it wrong that we invade her dreams?"
"Do you remember your promise?"
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
< br> You belong here. The words moved with a quick intensity.
There it was agian! That wind, that voice, that coaxing nature! Why did it call to her? Could anyone else hear it? Was there anyone else?
**************************************************************
Alone....
She knew that word well. Why? She could tell that it was one which caused her pain. She could sense that it was something of great importance. She stored that word away mentally. She had to find a way out. She had to find him... she would help her!
Who.... Who is....... him? And how would he save her?
Come with me Kagome! It said, a little more demanding than before.
Who? Who would help her? Why couldnt she remember?
****************************************************************
Forget. Forget them all.
"Forget? Forget who? What if I dont want to forget?" 'What am I to forget? Why do I feel as if something is so close... yet so far?'
He doesnt want you Kagome, and you know it. The voice sang.
"Who? Who doesnt want me?"
*****************************************************************
Its time to go Kagome...
"Go? Go where?"
Follow me........
"Who are you? Where am I to follow you too?"
Come.....
Kagome just closed her eyes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kagomes eyes shot open. Swiftly, they scanned the room. The whole world was in a fuzz, a blurr. Her head pounded intensely. People were screaming at her. Who were they and why did they have to speak so loudly?
"Kagome!" Something small, with chest nut hair jumped on top of her. "Your awake! Fianlly!"
"Uh..."
He was cute. A small child looking thing was nestled upon her lap. He had to have been about four. He looked so young, but why was he able to talk like this? Sure, some one of his age could speak, but not in full sentances. What had he called her? Kagome....?
Her face twisted into confusion as she thought and tried to reason things out. Nothing made sense! Who were these people?
"Oi. Shippo. Leave Kagome alone." A stern voice cut in. He had said this almost instintly after the small boy had jumped on top of her. Shippo? Was that his name?
The stern voice lifted the child off of her. His feet!
"Oh my gosh! Your... Your legs! Your feet!" She said, sitting up with a jolt.
The man with the stern voice looked up at her. His face filled with confusion and concern.
"Are you okay Kagome?" The man said. She took a moment to eye him. He wore red. It had to be one of the strangest outfits Kagome had ever seen. His hair was white... no, wait.... silver? Who had silver hair? And ontop of that mass of silver locks, rested two identical ears. Wait... Ears?
"Oh Kami! Your... Your... You have...Ears!" She cried out.
"Kagome?" His voice was oddly tight with both irritation and confusion.
"Whats wrong with you Kagome? Are you okay?"
"Who are you? Why do you have dog ears?!"
"What do you mean who am I? Whats wrong Kagome?" His voice was demanding.
Who were these people? Were they even people? A small child had harry legs, and fox feet. Another male had dog ears on top of his head! Where was she?
"InuYasha," A man adorning a purple robe, said, as he placed a hand on top of his shoulder. Prayer beads were wrapped around his right hand. Why? "please, keep calm. Kagome obviously can not remember anything." He continued.
InuYasha.... that seemed so familar. Like it belonged with her. Every one here seemed so... known. Yet at the same time, Kagome was at a loss of names and memorys.
InuYasha... Was that that mans name. That ment... That ment dog demon.
"Yes, as upsetting as this is, now is not the time to confuse her." A women added in. She wore a robe of white, green and pink. A small, cream colored cat was perched alertly in her arms. She had strange spots. One of which was black, in the center of her fore head, shaped like a diamond. She gave off a small "mew"
Kagomes eyes were wide. Apperently, she knew these strange people. They all seemed so worried about her. Why couldnt she remember them?
"InuYasha?" Kagome said. He looked back at her with a quickness.
"What is it Kagome?" He said tentativly.
"Your name means dog demon?"
"Yeah, you know that." He said, a marked frown upon his face.
"Uh, I did?"
"Yeah."
The ears. Ofcourse. Dog-Demon. Wait- does that make him a demon?
"Is... Are you..."
"Spit it out."
"Are you a demon?"
'She doesnt remember... She really doesnt remember! Why cant she? Does this mean that she has forgotten about every thing? About Shippo and Sango and Naraku... About us? Has she truely forgotten about me?'
"He's a half demon. You know that. Why dont you remember Kagome?" The small chest nut child said.
"How can you be half of something?"
"InuYashas mother was a human. His father was a great demon who ruled the western lands." The man in purple explained.
"Why cant you remember Kagome?" The strange child said.
"I... Uh..."
"Have you forgotten about me Kagome?" Tears welling in his eyes.
"Im sorry. Who are you? All of you."
The words were like sharp daggers to InuYasha. Recalling his past was bad enough alone. He took great comfort in knowing that Kagome knew. She was always there to comfort him when he needed it. Because she understood about his past- the teaseing, the torment, the heart break- she understood about Kikyo. Thats one of the reasons he gave her so much respect. She was strong enough to let him resolve those matters. Even though they never truely have been put to rest.
But now... When she had to ask who they were... It was worse than when Kikyo told him that Naraku had 'desires' for her. Worse than when Kagome had left. She didnt know him. She couldnt recall anything about him. The moments they have spent together, the closeness that they share.
But this also ment that she could not remember the pain. The dreams, him breaking her heart- over and over agian- Naraku,..... Kikyo.... Maybe it was best that she didnt remember.
No. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, he pushed it away. She had to remember. Other wise, she wouldnt remember him. The feelings that they have for one another would be nothing more than memories to him alone. All those late night talks that they had while he held her close.... it would be as if none of it were true. How could she forget?
"Kagome..." The women said with a sob.
"Why cant you remember us Kagome?"
"Im sorry. I cant.... Who... Who are you?"
The women bit back a sob. The male in purple closed his eyes tightly. He spoke first.
"We are your friends. I am Miroku."
"Im sorry Miroku, I can not place you... How did we meet?"
A soft smile came to him as he closed his eyes once more.
"It was just you, InuYasha and Shippo. Now, Im not so-"
"Im sorry. But who is Shippo?"
Shippos heart sunk. Stood up and left. Pain becomming apperent in his eyes.
"Im Shippo. Please remember me Kagome!" He begged.
"InuYasha was the man in red, right?"
"Yes." The women said.
"Im not proud to admit it, but I kidnapped you, because you wore a large amount of the Shikon No Tama."
"Wha.... What is that?"
"Its a powerful jewel sought out by demons and humans alike. It can increase power. You broke it."
"...I did...?"
"Yes, but it was not your fault. InuYasha was sealed to a tree and-" The women said.
"He was what?"
"The gaurdian of the jewel shot him with an arrow. It made him lie dormant and-"
"Prehaps now is not the best Sango. This is doubtless a lot to take in at once. We will either tell her later on. But it would be best if she remembers on her own."
The womens eyes grew sad.
"Yes. Your probally right. Im sorry."
"Sango? Is that your name?"
The women chewed on her lower lip.
"Yes. And this is Kirara." She motioned, pointing to the cat in her arms.
"Oh. She is very cute."
A small, sad smile came forth and difficult words made their way.
"...Thank...you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
InuYasha walked through the forest. Kagome and the rest of the group tagged alone behind him some what. It felt so strange, leading the group alone. Kagome never stayed in back with Sango and Miroku. Unless she was mad at him, or upset. She tended to stay away from him at those points. HE would give anything for those days to resurface in her mind, in the present. She was constintly at his side, as he was to hers. He missed her, he felt empty. But then agian, every thing seemed strange now...
Kagome had awoken, and forgotten her memories in another world. Her gashes that once looked like some one had struck her, now resembled that of a burn. Five claw marks down her arm. The gashes were deep, but sealed themself up fast enough, thanks to Kagomes medication. She had ran a fever soon after she awoke. It was the herbs that Kaeda had given her, that she had helped make, that brought it down. All in all, they had spent a week and a half in that village.
To InuYasha, it was a week and half to long. He hated it, but stayed because they were offered shelter, and Kagome was sick. He was dying to leave. It held to many bad memories. All of which, were recent.
There had been some mild confusion on Kagomes part when they readyed to leave. But it was quickly resolved thanks to Sango...
"Where are we going?" She had asked.
"Well, we have to continue our quest for the shards."
"Shards of what?" She asked, as her brows fused together.
"Shards of the Shikon No Tama. It broke."
"Oh." She said. "So where are we going?"
"Just forward I guess. On to the next village. Where ever the peices of the jewel are."
"Oh."
InuYasha had not talked to Kagome other than the "Are you ready to go?" he had said eariler. It was all too awkward. He felt flustard and his heart ache with sadness. It was Kagomes body, she looked the same, smelled the same, but she was different. She seemed much more dependent on every one around her. Where was Kagome? His Kagome?
He was too engrossed in the pain of his loss to care, to notice, to even be aware that night had fallen. It was Miroku who had told him so. When he left to stand beside InuYasha, Sango gave him pleading eyes not to leave. He shot sad eyes back at her.
"InuYasha?"
"What?" His voice was tense.
"The sun is starting to set. Its best we make camp."
"Keh."
"Kagome looks tired. She is just getting over a fever InuYasha. Now is not the time to be stubborn."
"Fine. What ever." He said, his voice low and cold.
They made camp in the forest. Trees surronded them, watching, protecting over them. InuYasha had left to find supper, while Miroku and Shippo gathered up branches and fallen limbs of trees to make a fire. Sango sat under a tree.
"Where is every one going?" Kagome asked, sitting down next to her.
"InuYasha left to hunt for dinner."
"Where is Miroku and Shippo?" She asked, able to place a name with a face, but still, no memorys about them.
"They left to get wood for a fire."
"Should we help?"
"No. We will cook the food."
"Sango....?"
"Yes Kagome?" She replyed.
"Please... Tell me... about every thing."
"I dont... Miroku said that it would be best if-"
"Sango please, help me remember. I hate being like this, haveing no idea who or what is. The only thing that seems familar are my dreams."
"Your dreams?"
"Yes. Its colors mostly. Some times I can hear laughs. Other times I can hear screams. Last night I felt like some thing had hurt me. Not phyically, just... inside. Although it makes no sense, its the only place that at the time, it does. I wake up and..."
"And remember nothing. Its all a blurr."
"Yeah. I can hear you in my dreams."
"You can?"
"Yeah. Its all faded and muffled. But I can make you out. And Miroku too. Some times its Shippo but..."
"What about InuYasha?"
"I can hear his the best. Its the one that comes up most often too, when I do hear them. But as quickly as it comes, it goes."
"Oh. I see."
"Some times I hear a mans voice. I cant tell who it is. I have never heard it before... I dont think..."
"Kagome..."
She shook her head, clearing away the thoughts before she became lost in them.
"Please Sango... Help me remember..."
She nodded in reply.
"Yes, okay."
InuYasha ran with intense speed. He had only caught a few fish. He had cleaned them, stalling for time, but he then feared that he was away too long. He rushed back. He saw Kagome and Sango sitting under a tall tree.
"InuYasha." Sango called out as he made his way toward them.
"Here." Was all he could say. She lied them down on a peice of cloth, for Miroku and Shippo had yet to return with the wood. InuYasha made his way to the tree that they were under. Neither of them noticed.
"So tell me Sango... What is this jewel we are after?"
"The Shikon No Tama is a jewel that will increase a persons power ten fold. It will grant one wish to its user. Most are out for it because they want power."
"Is that why we look for it?"
"No...Well partly. We dont want anyone to get that power."
"Why do you look for it?"
"Because my kin, Kohaku was slain because of it by a demon named Naraku. I also lived where it was born. I am the only one left..." Memorys came haunting back at her.
"What about Miroku?"
"A curse was placed upon his family, and he needs to kill a demon named Naraku."
"What kind of curse?"
"On his right hand, is a wind tunnel. Its like a void. It can suck in anything, and it will stay there as long as the one who placed it- Naraku- is alive. He needs to kill him in order to live. The wind tunnel will suck him in if Naraku remains to live."
"Thats so awerful!" Kagome said, hands covering her mouth.
"Yes, it is." She said, biteing back her own pain and fear of one day loseing the monk.
"Didnt you say that Naraku killed your kin?"
"Well, yes and no. He sent us to the castle on a claim of work, so that way, demons could attack our village while it was unprotected. My brother was slain, because the demon had control of him. He killed our... But while we were gone, the village was unprotected and they all died along with every one else that went on the slaying job."
"Slaying job?"
"Yes, I lived in a village of exterminators. I was said to be the best in the village. She said with a small smile.
"What about Shippo?"
"I cant tell you that. I joined the group long after you had met up with him. You would have to ask InuYasha."
"Why is he after the shards? Let me guess, Naraku?"
"Yes. Fifty years ago, InuYasha and a prestist were "In love" and through Narakus deceptions, Kikyo had shot him with an arrow. She was the gaurdian of the jewel, and InuYasha wanted it to become full demon. InuYasha, because he was shot aginst a tree, was pinned to it, dormaint, for fifty years... Until you came."
"Me? What did I do?"
"You woke him up."
"How?"
"I am not exactly sure. You would have to ask him."
An image shot through Kagomes mind. '
Ears... His ears...'
She shut her eyes. It hurt. What was this? Could it be a memory?
"Kagome? Are you okay?"
"Im fine. Please, continue."
"What else would you like to know."
"InuYasha... What happened to the prestist?"
"Her name was Kikyo. And she died shortly after. Some how, she became living once more."
"How is that possible?"
"There are many different ways. I am just not sure which one was used."
"Oh. Where is she now?"
"I am not sure. She wanders the country, looking for shards. We some times meet up with her."
"Have I met her?"
Sango looked around nerviously. InuYasha winced from high above.
"You have."
"Oh. Why does she not travel with us?"
"Because.... I.... I am not sure. You will have to ask InuYasha that one as well."
"He seems to have all the answers."
Sango smiled.
"Some of them. He just thinks he knows them all."
"So are InuYasha and Kikyo still-"
"Look who it is! Miroku! You took so long getting the wood." She exclaimed as they two returned.
"Im... sorry Sango. It would have been much quicker if InuYasha had helped us. The man in question jumped down.
"Keh." He said, arms folding, then crossing.
"I will go cook the fish." Sango offered.
"Yes. I will keep you company."
"In that case, Shippo, would you and Kirara like to come?"
"Sango, I am upset. Do yo think that I would really try anything?"
"With you, of course. Come on, the fish will go bad."
All that was left now, was InuYasha and Kagome. He turned to leave.
"Please! Wait!" She called after him. He froze.
"What?" He asked as he swallowed hard.
"Will you... Will you please answer some questions for me?"
He knew that it was comming.
"Im not really sure..."
"Please." She said softly. He nodded in reply.
"Thank you!" Kagome said, excieted. This was all fun and games to her. She then wrapped her arms around him, then in the same second, pulled away with such speed, it could make InuYasha look slow in compair.
"Uhh... Kagome..."
"I'm sorry. It just felt... right to do. I am sorry."
"No, dont be. Its okay."
He had felt Kagome. He had breathed in her scent. She surronded him. It was missed so much, and he craved it now more than ever.
They walked over to a tree, and rested aginst its trunk.
"So what do you want to know?" He said carefully.
"Every thing you have to offer."
"About what?"
"For starters... How did we meet?"
Pain of memories came rushing to him. Yet at the same time, he smiled. The memory was both a pleasnt one and sad.
"I was sealed to a tree from a miko named Kikyo. You came and saw me. Some how, I awoke."
A flash came to her. A mans silver hair blowing in the breeze.
"You dont know why?" She said, ignoreing the pain it brought.
"No, I dont." He admitted.
Another flash of light.
"You look pretty dumb there, Kikyo. The Kikyo I know wouldnt waste time."
"Kikyo! Kikyo! Kikyo! Who ever she is, shes not me!"
"Yeah, your right. Kikyo was much prettier."
She closed her eyes for a moment as the memory faded.
"Did I know you?"
"No. I had never seen you before. You liv-" he thought it was best not to confuse her further by telling her of the Bone Eaters Well.
"Did I... Do I look like Kikyo?" She asked.
He flinched. But in the same second....
"Kagome! Do you remember?"
"No... not really. I just thought I did. Just my imagination I guess."
"Oh." He said as he relaxed some what.
"So im guessing I do?"
"Did."
"Did?"
"At first glimpse you did. But now, after I know you so well, you really dont look anything like her. You two are completley different."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No." He was careful to say. "No, its not."
"So we were close? Before I... Before I forgot?"
"Yeah. Very close."
"What happened to Kikyo?"
Why did she need to know so much about her? It hurt as the words slipped from him, because being betrayed by one that you trust is never easy.
"A witch wanted to use her miko powers, so she brought her back to life. She walks around in a clay body and souls from the dead."
"Oh my." She said. "Do you still see her?"
"Some times." He admitted. The words he said now seemed more of a statement. No hurt, nor meaning to them.
"Oh, I see."
"So, how did I meet Miroku?"
"You, I and Shippo were traveling, and he kidnapped you for the shards we had. But some how-"
"We have shards?"
"Yeah. About 7 or so."
She frowned.
"Thats all?"
"We... We had more but Kikyo... She took them."
"Why would she do that?"
"Im... Im not sure." He admitted. His hand became nervious.
"Please, continue." She requested, as she put a hand on his to sooth his fidgeting habbit. He relaxed instintly.
"You let him explain, and found out that Naraku is the cause of his wind tunnel."
"He cant be all bad. He could have sucked us up into that thing if he really wanted to. Lets give him a chance to-"
Kagome felt a hand stroke across her butt. She jumped aback into InuYashas arms, as he caught her.
"You just blew your last chance pal."
She closed her eyes in pain, then opened them quickly, not wanting to alarm him.
"It was you who suggested that he join us."
"Im sorry. I thought you no more than an compainion. But apperently, you are in love with Kagome."
The two flushed.
"Uh... No!" He stumbled. "Shes Just a... a... Jewel detector! Thats all!"
"Is that all I am to you? Oh how could I forget? You've got a thing for dead girls."
Her eyes narrowed as she held back the pain. Her head throbbed and ached.
"How... How did we meet Shippo?"
"We met him before Miroku. His parents were killed by the thinder brothers. He is an orphan, so we couldnt leave him alone.
"The jewel, or your lives." A pink bubble came at him. InuYasha looked annoyed.
"Oh. Thats terrible." She flinched.
"Yeah. I feel really bad for him."
"How long have we been looking for these shards?"
"Years now."
"Oh. How do we get them?"
"Kill off or battle who ever has them, most of the time."
"Thats aweful."
"No, its not. If they have them, then they become corrupted and they lose their minds."
She was pulled into a hug.
"I was scared. I thought I was going to lose you."
"And you and I were close?" She asked once more.
"Yeah. You were my first real friend Kagome." He said, as he turned to face her. She smiled.
"The fish is ready." Sango said, breaking the gaze.
