"I love you more than life, Season," he whispered
against her ear. "You will always be my lady!"
Reiko Ayame Mitsuki shut the cover of Velvet chains, by Constance Obanyon, sighing as she did so. Nothing ever really interesting happen to her.
Reiko was fifteen, a sophomore in high school and the top student in almost all her classes. Her hair was dyed blond going down to her mid-back and she had brown green eyes. She wasn't that popular and had few friends. Though the friends she had she thought trustworthy.
Reiko's world revolved around three things: Romance, Strength, and the Japanese legends of demons, half-demons, and ancien t priestesses.
Of course right now all she was thinking about was a dream she had had a few weeks ago. It featured her and a man she could not identify. And something in her told her that there was something different about him, thou not a bad different.
Shaking her head, trying to rid herself of the erotic images forming in her mind, she shoved the novel into her bag before swinging it over her shoulder. She began her trek homewards.
She stepped off the side walk and into the street. A force hit her side, knocking her to the hard cement. She was dimly aware of the yelling and the pain, as her world turned black.

Reiko awoke, eyes slowly adjusting to the bright room and lights. There was a dimming ache and burn all over her body, but she could tell that nothing was broken. She became aware of voices and started concentrating on them before the fuzziness in her brain cleared and she recognized them as her parents.
"Oh Reiko! You're alive! We thought for sure that you would have died. The doctor did say that you might due to the accident but you aren't." Her mother's voice came hammering into her sore mind. She looked at her mother, a woman with scarlet curls and green eyes, with her non-wrinkled cheeks. Her mother was a beautiful woman at forty-eight, thou she and Reiko never really got along.
"What accident?" Reiko's voice was concerned. Why was she here? What had happened?
"You were hit by a car, honey!" Her father's voice broke through the un- conferrable silence. "It was going fifty on a thirty MPH road! I'm surprised you don't have more damage!" Her fathers black hair and his blue green eyes unnerved her. She had always feared her father thou he had done nothing. They didn't have a good relationship either, her being the only child her mother could have and not being a male was enough but daily arguments usually happened in her home.
"H-how could I have been hit by a car going that fast? I hardly feel any pain and I know that nothing is broken!"
Her parents exchanged a look, equally confused. And the silence would have continued, had the doctor not walked in.
"Ah Miss Mitsuki, I'm glad to see you awake, that was quite a hit you received!" He was equally confused by her lack of damage at the moment, when they got there she was covered in blood and her legs and pelvis were fractured. And then she had that OTHER problem.
"Um.Miss Mitsuki.are you aware you are four weeks pregnant?"
Reiko's eyes almost popped out of her sockets, not noticing the look her parents were making.
"What do you mean, pregnant? My daughter has never had sex before!" her father raged.
'Only in my dreams' "I have never even been kissed! How could I be pregnant? Is there some kind of mistake? There must be!"
"Ms. Mitsuki, please, we thought it was strange that your virgin bar riers would still be up. But have you had you Period this month?"
Reiko signaled 'no' by shaking her head
"Well then! The only thing we can do is get an abortion." It was now her mother speaking "I will now have my child a mother at the age of fifteen!"
Her father calmed down, seeing the sense in the words. He nodded his agreement.
Reiko's hand went to her stomach, already feeling love for the being that lived inside her, despite its weird creation. Reiko was strongly against abortions, even if it were not her child.
She raised her eye locking them with her parents, as one syllable formed in her throat. "No!"
It echoed throughout the room, a finality that would not be budged. And Reiko watched as her parents eyes filled with hate and malice before they turned around and left. Hating that she would defy them and that they might have to live with the disgrace that their daughter was pregnant at th e age of fifteen. They came to a mutual agreement that she had to go, not as far as to kill her, but, they would disown her.
It was a good thing she had already changed her last name.
