[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Kagome opened her eyes and saw a woman. “Kagome, sweetie are you okay, you've been trashing about. Did you have a nightmare?” Kagome looked around and realized she was in her room. The woman was her mother and it was all a dream.
WHAT, she thought. It was all a dream? It felt so real. I- I, darn, my head hurts.
“Momma, do I have to go to school today?”
“Of course not,” Kagome let a sigh out, “Today's Sunday. Today is the day you go on your date with Hojo!” Her mother gave a big ole smile while Kagome just closed her eyes.
NO! This is my dream. I swear I'm going crazy. “Momma, what school am I going to tomorrow?”
“Sacred heart, you know that. You've been going there since you were 8.” Her mother gave a concerning look, “Are you feeling aright”
“Yeah mom, I'm going to the park.” Her mother nodded and Kagome stood up from her bed. She just needed to collect her thoughts. It felt so real.
Every touch, thought, feeling she felt it was reality and where she is now is the dream.
----Park---
Kagome pulled up the sleeves of her blue sweat shirt. She looked around and noticed the park was deserted. She couldn't understand why. True, it was a tad chilly but it was still a beautiful day.
She walked to the swing set and took a seat.
~~~Flashback~~~
She saw a figure. She gasped and stood up. She stared at it. The broken light pole flickered on, and stayed on. “What are you doing here?” The man asked.
“I was just about to ask you the same question.” She told him.
“Answer me,” Sesshomaru told her.
“I had a nightmare and well I just felt like a 4 in the morning walk. What about you?”
“I had a dream. That's odd.”
“What if we had the same dream?”
“Doubt it. If we did, you wouldn't have dared coming here.”
“I think we did have the same dream. Why did you dream of me?”
“Why did you dream of me?” They both stayed quiet. “Come, I'll walk you home. You have school tomorrow.”
“So do you.” They walked for a while, but then stopped. They had heard a twig snap. They looked to their right and saw a figure far away. The light flickered off. “Kagome run.”
And she did.
END
Kagome blinked to come back to where she was. She looked around and saw no figure. She was just being paranoid.
She walked out of the park and decided to just roam around. In a few minutes later, she ended up in the last place she ever wanted to be.
There in front of her was the alley.
Flashback
“Kill him.” A cold voice spoke. A slash was then heard then silence. Kagome breathed in and out, she had to pee and was extremely scared. It was dark, and her father was looking for her. She left her date at the restaurant and was no in a dark alley, what she was listening to was...who knows what.
She stayed down in the muddy corner. She saw the figures but not their faces. There were two silvered haired teen boys and a very small boy with; it looked like, orange hair. Another teen came in the alley and spoke after the slashing noise was sounded, “We should get to move on now.”
“Right, let's go Inuyasha.” Kagome's eyes shot up, she had a name. The shorter silvered hair boy was Inuyasha. The murderer, Kagome's breathing quickened. They started to leave and Kagome felt a tingling in her nose. Oh no!
She took in a deep breath and the tallest boy froze to listen. Kagome froze also and shut her eyes, praying in her head. Please don't come back for me.
“What is it, Sesshomaru?” The orange haired midget spoke with a child's voice. He's only a kid! Kagome thought.
“It's nothing,” the one called Sesshomaru told him.
“Perhaps a rat,” The one Kagome didn't know the name to, spoke.
“Leave it let's go.”
And they left. Kagome let out a large helping breath. She crawled out from were she was on the floor and went to the figure that looked like he was slashed with claws? Kagome looked at him and his chest was extremely bloodied and had claw like marks on his shredded shirt. “Hello.”
Kagome's voice came out hoarse but she tried again, “hello, Mister. Are you still alive?” nothing, absolutely nothing. No breathing at all.
She checked for a pulse nothing. That creature killed him, with claws! Kagome shivered aware that she was now freezing and she stood up like a zombie. She stood there for about a minutes registering what had just happened. Should she report it? Will they come for her? She stood there wearing her long strapless blue dress, her raven hair dancing in the wind.
END
Kagome shivered and was just breathing. She looked down at her watch and saw that it was already 2 PM. She was to meet her friends, Eri, Ayume, and Yuka right now to find out what she was going to wear.
I'm not going, Kagome thought. Hojo won't miss me but I'll call just in case.
She headed back home.
----
“Kagome! Good thing you're here, but we already picked out your dress.” Kagome had just come back and it hit 3 on the clock.
Eri came to her pulling her arm trying to get her to her room up the stairs. “At first we couldn't chose but then last minute something just caught our eyes.”
“Eri I'm not-” Kagome trie3d but her friend Yuka yelled from her room.
“Kagome! Here, try it on, it's so perfect and we have four hours to get you done and ready.”
“No, wait I'm not-” Ayume shoved the dress in front of kagome and Kagome looked at it.
A long strapless blue dress with no blood stains or dirt.
“But keep your hair down; you look so much better without it up.”
She stood there wearing her long strapless blue dress, her raven hair dancing in the wind.
“No,” It almost came out a whisper but they heard her.
“What do you mean no?” Eri asked standing by her, admiring the dress.
“I'm canceling the date.” Kagome said pulling the dress from Ayume's grasp.
“Why?” Yuka asked trying to pull the dress from Kagome.
“Kill him.” A cold voice spoke. A slash was then heard then silence.
Kagome kneeled down near the grave she had just made and cried more for the unfortunate soul.
“Oh Kami, are you alright honey? I was so worried. Is that blood on your dress? What on earth happened? Did you leave that Hojo at the Restaurant? Let's get you washed up.” Kagome followed her mother up the stairs to go to the bathroom. Her father had stayed quiet the entire way home and once in the house her mother was talking with much concern. Kagome was still in shock and didn't know what to tell her family about what happen. Should I lie?
“Leave me alone. Please, I'm tired and through with you trying to get me with Hojo.”
“Kagome, we're friends, tell us what's wrong.” Eri offered their ears.
“Nothing, I'll call Hojo and tell him I can't make it. I'll talk to you later.” She pulled the dress from the tug of war game she was having with Yuka.
“But Kag-”
“Just leave.”
They nodded and head downstairs. Kagome throw the dress on the floor and sat on her bed. Was it really just a dream?
Kagome went down stairs and it hit her, hard. Of course it was a dream. Her father died when she was eight years old. That was nine years ago.
She felt tears dropping down here cheeks and a sob flew out of her mouth. Suki, her mother, came running out the kitchen.
“Sweetie, what's wrong?” Kagome looked up and saw mother's worried face. She shook her head and jogged out heading toward the library.
Flashback
She walked up the stairs of the public library and walked straight to the back. “Hey Kagome, long time no see. I was beginning to think you were actually trying to pass your classes.” A woman with short black hair spoke. She was a tad hefty and was at one of the many bookcases that aligned the wall.
“I would never forget you Amarante and school is just in the way.” Kagome chucked. The woman had a large button down shirt that was a deep purple. She had a long ankle length skirt that was jet black. Her shoes were black boots that went pass her ankles only. “So what can I do for you today?”
“Oh nothing, I just needed to get away.”
“Is your new school getting frustrating?”
“No it's not the school; my mother just doesn't know when to mind her own business.”
“You don't know how either. And besides, you're her daughter. It is her job to pry into your business. Don't blame her to be worried about you.”
“Yeah, you're probably right. I just don't want to talk about it.” Kagome walked to a couch and looked around the room. Shelves bookcases, filled with old logs and books. “Any new books?”
“As a matter of fact, a large amount of old stories came in a few days ago. I think they are all about this evil guy and his goal to become ruler of the world. It has a lot to do with back in the day and youkai. I haven't read them I just looked through them.” Kagome nodded. “What was the evil guy's name?”
“I think it was Naraku or something.”
“What did you say?” Kagome stood up. The woman was putting some books on the shelves in order. “Naraku, I think. I'm not…” She didn't get to finish talking Kagome cut her off. “Where are the books?” The woman turned around and handed the book that was in her hands. “This is one; I'm putting them up right now.” She pointed to the quarter filled bookcase then to the cart to her right. “Thanks.” Kagome took the one that was in the woman's hand.
On the cover of the book was nothing. It was brown leather and felt worn out. “Can I take this out?”
“Of course, you can only take out twelve, just remember that.”
“Thanks, Amarante, I'll look for more.” Kagome went toward the steel cart that was in front of her. She looked at a few and picked out two more thick books. One of then that she took looked pink and said Shikon no Tama on it. Shikon is the name of my school, is there a connection? And she took another out, that said `Lords or Not to be Forgotten' on it.
End
Kagome shook her head taking that memory of her dream out of her mind. She walked into the library and straight to Amarante.
“Hey Kagome, long time no see. I was beginning to think you were actually trying to pass your classes.” She said and Kagome just stood there. She did not just say that. She shook the thought of her mind and cut right to the chase.
“There's Three books I was wondering if you just got them.” Kagome walked up to her. Amarante was seating at her desk and sipping some coffee so it was a change in scenery.
“Alright, what the titles?”
“Shikon no Tama, Lords are Not to be Forgotten And there's another one but it doesn't have a title it's just brown leather and blank but it's a bit worn.”
“How odd Kagome, how did you know that? We got that just a few hours ago. I didn't but them into the computer yet so you can't take them out. I was just about to do that do you want to stay and wait? I'll do them first so you can take them out.”
Kagome considered it but heard her stomach yell out `I'm hungry' and decided against.
“I can't I'm sorry but I'm go head home and fill my tummy up.” Kagome said with a smile. The woman smiled back and her eyes showed a bit of wisdom. “You'll come first thing tomorrow, after school?”
“Ye-” Kagome was about to say yes but remembered something else. “I'll come second thing tomorrow after school.” The woman nodded and then said, “It was good seeing you, I hope next time we can actually sit and talk.” Kagome nodded and turn to walk out but stopped.
“Bye, I'll see you tomorrow.” She said then walked out.
Walking down the street she wasn't even thinking. Her mind was completely blank and it was only four. She's been walking around a lot lately, taking hours out of her house just walking around.
Without thinking, she brought her hand to the back of her head and felt her Swiss pocket knife she pulled it out and flick the blade out.
She stopped. Right there and then.
On the blade, a few little specks of red were on the teeth.
She brought it to her face and examined it a bit and indeed in fact, it was dry blood.
In a second she dropped it and felt as if she was hyperventilating. No, no, no, no, this is not happening to me. I am not going crazy. But the first step of crazy hood is talking to yourself. But I'm not talking to myself. I'm thinking to myself. Yeah, I'm not crazy. That's was not blood on the blade.
Kagome bent down trying to catch her breath and picked the knife back up, to reexamine it.
Yes it was blood.
“AHHHHHHHH!” Kagome felt her head getting dizzy and she felt her self drop. She closed her eyes but she didn't reach the ground.
She opened her eyes and saw gold eyes staring at her.
“Are you alright?”
She nodded and he helped her up. She looked down fixing her clothes then looked back up to see who had saved her from that fall.
Her head begin to spin.
“I'm Inuyasha, what-”
“Shut up, don't say anything. I don't know you!” she said quite loudly and ran home.
---Home----
Kagome get a grip. It was all a coincidence. “Sweetie is that you? Dinner is ready.”
She heard her mother tell her. It's dinner already? I've still haven't eaten. “C-coming” She called and went into the kitchen.
There sat her grandfather, her brother and her mother. She sat in front of her plate and looked down.
She saw red meat. She felt acid coming up her throat, getting ready to exit. “I-I'm not hungry.” Her stomach growled as soon as she finished saying that.
“What do you mean? You haven't eaten this entire day. Are you sure you're alright?”
“I'm sorry momma, I just feel a bit sick. Can I be excused?”
“Of course you may, but I'll be up with some soup later.” Kagome nodded and left the dinning table with a bitter taste in her mouth.
Kagome sat on her bed watching the sunset outside.
She let out a sigh she hadn't even know she was holding.
Her mind was spinning out of control her heart was plunging back and forth and she still hadn't called Hojo.
She stood up and began heading to her bedroom door when there was a knock.
“Come in,” She told the door.
The door opened and there stood Hojo.
“Hojo, you're not supposed to be here until seven.” Kagome said surprised.
“I'm sorry Kagome, it's just that, you're friends called and said you weren't feeling well.”
“I was just about to call you; I'm not feeling all that great.” Kagome told the truth. She wasn't feeling well. Her stomach was laughing at her, her mind was screeching and her ears were pounding.
“That's okay we can stay in and I can give you that yummy soup your mom's making.”
Kagome gave him a soft smile. “Thanks, but you don't have to.”
“I want to.”
“Alright, make your self at home, I'll be back.” Kagome said motioning her bed. She walked out heading toward her mom.
“Momma, where are you?”
“In the Kitchen,”
Kagome walked into the kitchen. “You're done eating already?”
“No, I decided to start on that soup.”
“Mom, I'm fine but why'd you let Hojo come in?” Kagome said in a low voice so no one but her mother could hear her.
“Hojo is a fine boy and he heard you weren't feeling well. How nice was it of him to come and check up on you?”
“I don't like him, mother. He's very boring and to nice to be anything but a vet.”
“I thought you liked animals.”
Kagome let out a frustration growl, “That's not the point, please get him out of here, I'm going to the library.”
“Were you not at the library earlier today and what's so wrong with him?”
“Every thing”
“That's not nice, where's the sweet daughter I gave birth to?”
“I- I don't know. But I'm just going to look for something I dropped near the library, earlier.”
“Alright, but this is the only time I'm doing this for you. Hojo is a very sweet guy.”
“He may be now but I could be a monster behind those good looks of his.”
“Now Kagome, you're just being weird.”
“That's what you think. Bye mother.”
“At least eat something.”
“I'll eat when I come back.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
Kagome walked around feeling a breeze from the autumn weather. She walked to where she had since Inuyasha earlier that day and bent down. She crawled on the floor looking for her handy dandy, pocket knife.
She hoped no one she knew would pass by and ask her what-
Her head bumped into a pair of legs.
She sat on her inner legs and looked up to see gold orbs looking back at her with a cold demeanor. She felt her self shiver and she let out a soft, raspy, “hello,”
The man looked her then to her hands that were still on the floor.
“What are you doing?”
“n-nothing.” Kagome replied standing up and brushing her self off.
“Don't lie to me.” The man said.
“I said nothing, Sesshomaru and I meant exactly that.” Kagome told him turning around.
The man grabbed her hand and stared at her deeply.
“I never gave you my name, how is it that you know it?”
“E-everyone knows you, your that guy fighting that other guy.” Kagome looked for an accuse.
“What guy how do you-” He stopped speaking and stared at the hand he was holding and saw a ring placed on her hand.
“Of course you know me. Come.” He said and dragged her after him
