InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Untitled ❯ Chapter 1

I was listening to the Simple Plan song called Untitled (nice name huh?) and this just popped into my head. It has more effect if you listen to the song….but enjoy!

I open my eyes

I try to see but I'm blinded by the white light

I can't remember how, I can't remember why

I'm lying here tonight

And I can't stand the pain

And I can't make it go away

No I can't stand the pain

How could this happen to me?

 

An agonized scream tore through the battlefield. Kagome snapped her head in his direction, unprepared for the site that awaited her. Inuyasha's body hung limply in the air. One of Naraku's tentacles protruded from his chest while others lashed him across his face and bare back. He was being held still by even more tentacles wrapped around his arms and legs. He was bound so tightly he couldn't even wiggle his fingers nor did he have the strength left to move his body away from the whip-like tentacles. All he could do was suffer through it.

 

I made my mistakes, Got no where to run

The night goes on as I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life; I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

 

 

“Inuyasha!” Kagome cried out as she launched an arrow aimed for the tentacles holding Inuyasha. She notched another arrow, this one targeted at the tentacle in her beloved's chest. As the last one disintegrated, Inuyasha fell to the ground with a thud into a pool of his own blood. Shooting another arrow at Naraku, she ran toward the fallen hanyou.

 

“Sango! Miroku!” Kagome called, “Hold off Naraku for a little bit!”

“We shall try, Kagome-chan.”

“Yes, take care of Inuyasha.”

 

 

Everybody's screaming
I try to make a sound
But no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold onto
A time when nothing mattered
And I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No I can't

 

“Wake up, Inuyasha! Please open your eyes!” She glanced at the hanyou's face to see if he heard her, but the only response she got was a small flutter of his eye lids.

“Please Inuyasha!” his eyes fluttered again.

“C'mon Inuyasha. Wake up.” She willed him on. Inuyasha scrunched up his face and made a small groan.

 

“Open your eyes…for me” Again his eyes fluttered, but this time his eyes cracked open after a few seconds. His unfocused eyes slowly turned in Kagome's direction.

 

“…gome..?” he murmured.

 

“Yes, I'm here.”

 

“Ka…ka...gome…” he whispered again.

 

“What is it? What's wrong?”

 

“I…I want…no, I need to talk…to her.”

 

“But…”

 

“Please…” his voice was strained and some blood was starting to dribble down his chin. Kagome placed her right hand over his desperately beating heart and grabbed his hand with her left and gave it a small squeeze, disappointed when the most he could do back was a small twitch of his pinky finger. “I'm right…right here, Inuyasha.” Her eyes were starting to water as she held back a sob.

“Kagome, I'm…sorry… I'm sorry” he started chanting.

“Hush. There's nothing for you to be sorry about.”

“Yes…there is…I'm sorry for always…being a jerk…and calling you names…..and going off with Kikyo………….gods, Kagome, I'm so sorry…….so sorry.” The blood on his chin was now flowing freely from his mouth and he coughed, trying to rid his lungs of the debris. With every breath he took came a gargling sound as he gapped for air. Kagome glanced at his face and was surprised to see something she had only seen him do one other time; cry. Inuyasha sniffed and closed his eyes, trying to hide his tears but it wasn't enough. The dam broke and his pent-up tears flowed down his dirty cheeks, creating clean streaks and he half sobbed into Kagome's shirt as she gently held him up.

“Shhh, Inuyasha its ok…I don't hold any of that against you, I never could.”

As the dying Inuyasha lay in her arms, Kagome retold stories of their adventures. A small smile graced the hanyou's face and as he slowly closed his eyes he laid a whisper on the wind that carried to Kagome's ear.

`I love you, Kagome. Only you.'

“I love you, too….Inuyasha.” She whispered aloud as she felt his heart beat slow until she could feel it no more. She glanced at her love's face, free of pain and bad memories, his face held a look of innocence as his smile remained.

Engraving that picture into her mind and with tears streaming down her face, she laid the hanyou down, silently promising to give him a proper burial and slipped his prayer beads off his neck and wrapped them around her bow. Standing up, she walked toward her remaining friends and enemy, prepared to face her destiny.
