AN: For those who are wondering what pairing this is going to be.. I really have no idea yet… I usually don't like putting up pairing just in case I end up not wanting that pairing in the ending. With this story I may end up doing two ending version where Kagome will end up with a different suitor/person in both but I really am not sure yet! Hope that answers questions ^.^

Chapter Three: Please

The sun was shining brightly, birds were chirping, flowers were in full bloom and everything was happy! That had to be the farthest thing from the truth! Inuyasha was walking to the main hall where the banquet for Kagome's sixteenth birthday was being held. He had just walked into the hall searching for Kagome, who usually liked helping with her birthday preparations. He drooled as he remembered last year when she was wearing a short summer kimono and was bending over to gather some flowers she had dropped. Shaking his head Inuyasha spotted Miroku and Sango. "Bouzu, Sango! Have either of you seen Kagome?"

Sango smiled. "Hai! She's still in bed, sleeping I think." Inuyasha looked at her when her eyes widen and her face contorted into an expression of disgust she whirled around and slapped Miroku hard on the face. "HENTAI!"

When would that monk ever learn? Inuyasha rolled his eyes at the now bickering 'couple' when the thought struck him. Kagome was in bed… sleeping… with his brother?!?!? Growling Inuyasha left the hall in a fury knocking several of the servants over on his way out.

Sesshoumaru squinted as he opened his eyes and felt a heavy weight on his chest. He smiled to himself as he noticed the heavy weight on his chest was the girl that was looking after him. He also noticed she was still heavily sleeping her breathing even and calm, gently moving her off him, he sat up a bit so the tingling in his arm would go away. Thank Kami he was a youkai and healed quickly, he was almost back to his full strength. The girl had helped as well as the medicine she had giving him, the rest he had gotten had also contributed to the healing process.

Despite how much he had healed he was still a bit sore and the girl laying on him like that didn't help, carefully stretching his arms Sesshoumaru silently watched the girl sleep. However the silence didn't last long as his brother burst into the room his eyes blood red and his fangs and claws both long and ready to kill.

"Inuyasha calm down, there is no need for you to act like a rabid dog." Sesshoumaru smirked at his obviously angered brother.

Inuyasha let out a feral growl. "Get away from her."

Sesshoumaru laughed at him. "What's the matter Inuyasha? You're can't stand you're bitch being in bed with another man?" His expression turned serious. "You'd better get used to it hanyou she'll be married soon."

Snarling fiercely Inuyasha jumped at his brother who had quickly gotten out of the bed somehow and had caught him mid jump around his throat. "You will not bother this, Sesshoumaru anymore. Go back and help with the banquet planning Inuyasha you are not wanted here." Poison dripped from Sesshoumaru's claws burning Inuyasha's throat. He threw his brother roughly to the ground. "Get out Inuyasha and mind your own business."

Inuyasha grasped his throat and glared at his brother before running out of the room to get immediate medical attention. He could still feel the poison burning his skin and not only that he wasn't able to talk the force of Sesshoumaru's hand must have injured his vocal cords. 'Damn you Sesshoumaru…'

Kagome couldn't believe how late she had woken up. She had quickly gotten dressed after checking to make sure Sesshoumaru was healing properly before rushing to the hall to help with the banquet decoration only to find it done and her father ordering her to hurry up and get ready for the banquet. She briefly wondered why no one had come to wake her up.

"Oh! Inuyasha!" She ran up to him hugging him tightly. "Why didn't you come wake me up this morning?"

Inuyasha looked at Kagome smiling at her, it was hard not to she was always bright and cheerful.

"Inuyasha? How are you today? He heard her ask again a little touch of irritation in her voice. He wanted to tell her that he was great and had a special surprise gift for her but his vocal cord were still injured rendering him unable to reply to the girl.

"Inuyasha! Why won't you answer me?"

He pointed to his throat and opened his mouth but no sound came out. He could tell she was confused. "You… can't talk?" He hugged her tightly nodded his head. "Why can't you talk?" Inuyasha looked around for something to symbolize his brother but found nothing so instead he reached up and put his index finger on Kagome's forehead drawing a crescent shape. He frowned when he noticed she looked utterly confused. "Inuyasha? Can you show me?"

Kagome saw Inuyasha's eye brighten considerably as he grabbed her hand and led her back to her room. He started making gestures towards Sesshoumaru. "Inuyasha? You can't be serious! Sesshoumaru is ill, I hardly think he has the strength to make you unable to talk! You are such a jerk sometimes Inuyasha! Blaming others for your own stupidity! Now get out and get Sango and ask her to come here please."

A sort of strangled growl came from Inuyasha's throat as he turned and left the room. Sighing Kagome turned to her bed and went over sitting on the edge beside Sesshoumaru. "Sesshoumaru?" Taking his grunting sound as a sign he was awake she continued to talk. "Gomen about Inuyasha he's a bit unreasonable at times…" She briefly wondered why he had drawn the crescent shape on her forehead considering the fact Sesshoumaru's milky skin was bare with no sort of mark there.

Sesshoumaru turned towards the girl. "What makes you think this, Sesshoumaru did not do it girl?" He couldn't completely comprehend the fact that this little slip of a girl could order his brother around.

"This, Kagome does not think you did it because you are injured. Besides Inuyasha always picks on male guests when they come here." Kagome smiled at Sesshoumaru. "Do you need anything? I won't be here later tonight, my father is holding a banquet for me I think he wants me to pick my favourite suitors."

He always picks on male guests? Seems my hanyou brother likes this ningen girl. "I would like to come to the banquet." Sesshoumaru replied to the shocked girl.

"The… the banquet? But Sesshoumaru you are not well! You are still injured!" Kagome looked at her guest and frowned. "I will not let you come. I will however bring you up some food if you'd like."

Sesshoumaru turned to glare at the girl for ordering him, the Lord of the Western Lands around until he caught her scent. The fresh scent of... worry? For him? That didn't make sense. "You worry for me. Why?"

He can smell my worry for him. He's a youkai? "You are a youkai? You do not look like one, you look human." Kagome asked the words leaving her mouth before thinking about them. "Oh!" She covered her mouth. "Gomen! I didn't mean to ask… I was just, well what I mean was umm…" She shut her eyes hoping he wouldn't kill her on the spot.

"I am a youkai. You are scared now? This, Sesshoumaru will not hurt you after your hospitality towards me." Sesshoumaru closed his eyes a bit as if resting. "Girl, get me some tea." Sesshoumaru raised a perfect silvery eyebrow at her when she didn't move from her spot. "Girl, I asked for some tea are you deaf?" Sesshoumaru scowled at her playful reply.

"No, I am not deaf Sesshoumaru. You have just forgotten to say the magic word." Kagome giggled a bit as she saw Sesshoumaru stoic expression change into a look of displeasure. "You don't know the magic word Sesshoumaru?"

His scowl deepened and his brows furrowed as the girl 'teased' him. "This, Sesshoumaru does not know of any word girl." He watched as she broke down into a fit of giggles falling off the bed with a light 'thump'. Sesshoumaru gazed over the edge of the bed at the girl who was sprawled across the floor still laughing uncontrollably. "Girl?"

Kagome stopped laughing and looked up at Sesshoumaru who was staring straight at her. "Umm Gomen Sesshoumaru. That was just too funny though. The magic word is please silly. Didn't you parents teach you…" She stopped as soon as she saw his gold eyes darken into an almost brassy brownish colour.

"This, Sesshoumaru's parents are dead and you girl will speak of them no more." Kagome shivered unconsciously at the tone in his voice, cold, uncaring and almost lifeless. "I would like my tea now." She nodded and quickly got up to prepare his tea for him her body still tense.

Inuyasha's brow creased as he sat on the castle steps with Miroku. He could feel Miroku's eyes on him scrutinizing him, wondering what had happened. Inuyasha turned and glared at the monk.

"Oh Inu I was just pondering on what had happened between you and Kagome-sama. You seem pissed off." In return for his comment Miroku got swiped at and viciously pushed down the stairs. Which didn't really bother him since it happened to be a daily occurrence. He groaned in pain as he sat up. "Now Inu no need to be rash I am sure you can have your chance at wooing Kagome tonight." Miroku snickered but was quickly cut off by one of Inuyasha's throwing knives landing right between his legs and he chuckled nervously his hand running through his black hair. "Fine. Be a jerk about it I was only joking around."

Miroku watched as Inuyasha stood and fumed at him knowing he would be yelling at him if he had his voice. He had been so irritable today and come to think of it yesterday as well. Then the thought hit him, tonight was the night of the new moon. Inuyasha would be a human tonight.

Sango rushed into Kagome room only to find it empty with the exception of Sesshoumaru on the bed silently sipping his tea. "She is in the spring taking a bath."

Sango bowed. "Arigatou." Before she rushed quickly into the spring room to help Kagome.

Kagome was soaking in her spring when she heard someone slide the door opened. Quickly jolting up and covering herself out of instinct she saw it was only Sango. "Sango-chan! You startled me." She could feel her heart pounding against her ribcage. She smiled as Sango apologized and asked her if she had finished bathing. Nodding her head Kagome got out of the spring and wrapped a bathrobe around her form.

Sango bowed at Kagome as some other maids entered the room to help Kagome get ready. There was no getting out of this for her.

Sesshoumaru watched the older women fuss over Kagome as if she was a doll. It was disgusting the amount of makeup they had placed on the girl's face even he had to admit she looked more beautiful without it.

It had taken them an hour to get the girl ready but she was finally finished, a masterpiece in the maids eyes but he could see the frown in the girls eyes which seemed to always betray what she was feeling. He could hear the maids murmuring amongst themselves on a job well done as they bustled out of the room. As soon as the door closed behind them he spoke up. "You look ridiculous girl." He saw the girl viciously rubbing at her face with a cloth.

"You think I don't know that? I hate makeup! It's so gross and it smells funny and it itches my face." Kagome looked at her reflection in the mirror smiling in satisfaction when she got all the makeup off her face. She saw Sesshoumaru in the mirror's reflection. "What are you looking at?" She received no answer and decided to ignore him and stood brushing imaginary wrinkles out of her beautiful kimono.

Her father had gotten it specially made it was a dark blue colour with sakura blossoms and petals across the bottom and on the sleeves. The obi was the same colour as the embroidered flowers, a soft pink. Her hair was almost painfully twisted up and curled on the ends. It wasn't as if she didn't like her present from her father, she just didn't like getting so dressed up not for anything or anyone. Sure she liked to play dress-up but this was different, this was like being a doll a breathing living doll... She stopped and turned to face Sesshoumaru shaking her head to get rid of the thought, some of the looser stands of hair falling from the twist framing her face.

Sesshoumaru looked away from the girl a tingle moving up his spine. He gripped the sheets with his hands his elf-like ears twitching a bit. He was losing control of his disguise, closing his eyes and taking in a few deep breaths he regained his normal control and for one he was glad his hair was covering his ears.

"Sesshoumaru? Are you alright… Do you need some water or something?" How does she move so fast? He shook his head no at the girl who was now kneeling on the floor by the bed. "Are you sure you looked a bit sick."

The nerve of this girl! Couldn't she tell he was fine, he was a youkai lord for heaven's sake! He WAS able to heal himself without the help of ningens. "I am fine girl."

Kagome sat back a bit disappointed she wanted to get out going to the stupid banquet and thought that maybe if Sesshoumaru had been sick enough she wouldn't have had to go. Her inner voice snickered at her.

You just want to stay here with him.

'No… Why would I want to do that?'

He's beautiful. Look at him!

'I don't even know him!'

So? You've slept with him.

'Only in the same bed! We were wearing clothing!'

You felt safe… safer than when you are with Inuyasha.

'I…'

Told you, you're falling in love with him.

'Father would never allow it now go away.'

Sesshoumaru watched the girl's inner turmoil with great attention. The way her brow furrowed in concentration and the way her all her emotions passed through her blue-grey eyes as clear as crystal. "Girl." She looked up at him and he looked at her, his lips curled up in a smirk. "This, Sesshoumaru would like to attend the banquet with you. Please." He watched as her scent spiked with a scent of cinnamon mixed with her normal scent as she stood excitedly clapping her hands together.

"You said please."
