Mika sunk slowly into the warm water of the springs. “Ahh, it's so warm!” “Isn't it? Hot springs are great to relax in, especially after battling youkai. Right, Sango?” “Definitely. Hey, that reminds me. You never did tell us where you got those injuries from before.” Mika glanced over at the slayer, knowing she was now in trouble. If they knew she had slain a whole village for no reason… “I was, uh, simply fending off some demons that were, um, attacking a local village. Nothing more.” Sango raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure? How recently was this battle? Because some of those wounds appear to be old ones.” “Some are. If you're referring to my arms, those scars were made when I was still young. They were made the night my father was killed.” Sango lowered her head in respect. “I understand. I, too have one scar that marks a sad event for me.” Sango turned to show Mika the large scar on her back. Mika gasped. “What sort of youkai made that?” “No youkai made this mark. It was… my brother, Kohaku. He was under a spell and ended up killing all of the slayers, including my father. Kohaku attempted to kill me and the villagers killed him. Then, the villain Naraku brought Kohaku back to life with a shard of the Shikon jewel. Now, Naraku uses Kohaku to do his evil bidding.” “I'm so sorry. That must have been awful.” Sango looked up and smiled slightly. “Yeah. But, once we destroy Naraku, Kohaku will be free from his spell. Then, we can set everything right.” Mika, too, smiled. Maybe they would understand.
In the bushes, Miroku and Inuyasha struggled to stay as quiet as possible, for fear of being caught. “Beautiful, aren't they?” Miroku asked. Inuyasha did not respond. He was too busy staring at Mika. Her many curves, her intoxicating aroma. Inuyasha was in heaven. “Hey, Miroku?” “Yeah?” “What happens if we get caught?” “Well, I imagine you'll be sat about a gazillion times, I'll be beat repeatedly with the Hirakotsu, and God knows what Mika will do.” Inuyasha gulped and, now more worried than ever, turned back to watch the women bathe.
“Hey, Mika? Would you like to try some of my shampoo?” Mika looked at Kagome, obviously confused. “Shampoo? What is shampoo?” “It's a type of liquid humans in my time use when we wash our hair, to help it stay clean and lively. Try some.” Kagome handed her the bottle of shampoo. Mika opened it and a strong floral scent filled her nose. “Uh, no thank you, Kagome. The scent is too overpowering. Plus, youkai and hanyou don't like things that mask their natural scent.” “Scent? What scent?” Mika smiled. “That's right you're a human. I guess you guys don't smell as well as we do. You see, all youkai, hanyou, and humans have their own natural scents. Some scents you are born with, others you pick up along the way.” Kagome and Sango were intrigued. “What do I smell like?” they asked in unison. Mika laughed. “Kagome smells of sakura (blossoms) and Sango of jasmine.” “Oh, how beautiful.” Sango said. “What about Miroku? And Shippo?” “Yes, and how about Kirara?” Mika smiled. “They really are curious.” “Well, Miroku smells of lavender. Shippo, like most demons, has a couple different scents, but his strongest is of fresh cut grass. And Kirara has many scents, it's very hard to distinguish one form another. One is of ash, probably because of the flames on her feet in her transformed state. The only other I can truly smell is the ocean air.” Kagome just had one more question. “How about Inuyasha? What does he smell like?”
In the bushes, Inuyasha blushed at Kagome's question. “Why the hell does she want to know my scent for?” “I can't believe I smell of lavender! That's hardly a manly scent!” “And you're hardly a man! Now, shut up! I want to hear what she says!”
“Inuyasha? Well, again, he has more than one scent. There's the scent of lemon, same as Inutaisho and Sesshomaru. I also smell clover and, if I'm not mistaken, cinnamon.” “Lemon, clover, and cinnamon. That's really a strange combination.” “Ah. It may seem strange to you, Kagome, but if you had my nose, it would smell heavenly.” It was then Sango chimed in. “Hey. I just thought of something. What about you, Mika? What's your scent?” Mika laughed. “Well, that's a strange question! With all the others smells floating around, I can't really pinpoint my own scent. You'll have to ask Inuyasha about that one.” “Aw. That means we'll have to wait til tomorrow. He's probably asleep by now,” Kagome said sadly. Just then, Mika caught a strong whiff of lavender. “Actually,” she began, lemon, cinnamon and clover mixing with the lavender, “he's right over there in the bushes, along with Miroku.” “INUYASHA! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT!” Multiple thuds were heard from behind the bushes as Miroku ran out, hoping to escape. “Oh no you don't, hentai! Hirakotsu!” Sango's weapon made direct contact with Miroku's skull. “So, what do we do with them?” Sango asked. Mika thought for a moment and smiled deviously. “You two can deal with Miroku. I'll handle Inuyasha.”
