Inuyasha opened his eyes slowly and stared at the starry sky above him. “What the hell happened?” His answer came when he heard a Mika's voice. “Why the hell were you spying on us, Inuyasha?” Inuyasha looked into her cobalt blue eyes, unable to provide an answer. “I… I don't know.” “Humph. Like hell you don't. Do you think we're just objects? Something placed on this earth solely for male entertainment? I don't think so! Women are kind, strong, compassionate, and caring individuals that shouldn't have to take this kind of crap from people like you. And another thi-” Mika suddenly found Inuyasha's lips pressed against her own. Slowly, she returned his kiss.
Once they parted, Inuyasha said, “Your scent is amazing.” Blushing, Mika asked, “I've often wondered, but, what is my scent, Inuyasha?” Inuyasha laughed. “Your scent? It's intoxicating, I can tell you that. Well, your strongest scent is honey. Another I smell is the one you share with Sesshomaru, vanilla. And…” “Come out with it already!” “Peppermint. The one that ties the other two together to create such a heavenly aroma.” “Inuyasha,” Mika said, blushing. Inuyasha pulled Mika close to him, inhaling her wonderful scent. “Mika, I've never met anyone like you before. So strong and powerful, but kind just the same.” “And you, Inuyasha, are strong yourself. Kagome told me something while we were dragging you two spies back to the hut. She told me you wanted to become a full youkai using the Shikon no Tama. Could this be true?” “It is. Or, was, I guess. I always thought that becoming a full youkai would make me powerful, so I could finally stand up to Sesshomaru. But, then, I saw the way you fought him. You fought as though you would never stop. Almost as if your youkai blood had taken over. I bet you wouldn't have given up, even if on the edge of death. And, now I realize that, if I fight the way you fight, I don't need to become a full-fledged demon. I have all the power I need right here inside of me.” That said, Inuyasha held Mika tighter, praying this moment would never end.
Later that evening, Mika decided to confess something that had been on her mind quite some time now. “Inuyasha?” “Hmm?” “Earlier, you mentioned that you thought I would fight Sesshomaru to the death, did you not?” “I suppose so. Why do you ask?” “It's just…” Mika sighed, knowing it was time for her to tell Inuyasha the whole story. “I guess I have no choice this time. Inuyasha, are you ready to here the rest of what happened the night Sesshomaru attacked?” “I'm all ears, Mika.” “Here goes nothin'.”

“My father and I were sitting in the hut together, watching the sunset. It was a full moon that night and Father always marveled at how quickly the transformation took place. My hair now black and eyes green, I felt powerless. Suddenly, the warning bell rang out, signaling that a demon, or perhaps demons, was approaching. I watched my father race out of the hut to help protect the village. “I'll be back soon, Mika. Just stay in the hut til sunrise. We don't want these foul youkai finding you in this state.” I agreed reluctantly, feeling worse than ever. In mere moments, I could hear the shrieks of the terrified villagers mingling with the roar of demons. I knew I had to help, but what could I do? In my current form, I would most likely hinder them, rather than help? So there I sat, hearing the screams and faintly smelling the blood, knowing I could do nothing to stop it. Suddenly, I heard noises upon the roof above me and, within seconds, it collapsed. The debris surrounded me as I struggled to free myself. Our entire hut was destroyed. Quickly, I snatched up a blanket from the wreckage and covered myself so the demons would not spy me. I could only watch as, one by one, the demons took out the other huts. It was then that I saw him. The one who would murder my father. The great inu-youkai, Lord Sesshomaru.”
