“His silver hair swished as he walked. His amber eyes seemed intent on killing. I watched as he walked up to my father and grabbed him by the front of his robes. “So, you must be Yuki. I have heard much about you from my father. Tell me, did you ever know a woman named Rika?” “Rika? My good man, it has been ages since I've heard that name aloud. Rika was once my wife.” Sesshomaru seemed to tighten his grasp on Father's robes. “So, you were the one who ruined my mother. Who put his human seed inside of her. You violated her, you could not satisfy her. That is why she left you for my father, a pure demon like herself.” My father was in shock. “You are Rika's child? If that is the case, I should be the one who is angry. It was your birth that killed her.” “Only after you weakened her with your human emotions. And, should you ever speak to me that way again, I will kill you without mercy.” Father was silent. “I shall finish what I came here to do. I shall kill the one who fouled my mother's essence and filled her with useless thoughts of pure love. You die now.”
Sesshomaru raised his claws, ready to strike my father dead. At this point, I knew I could keep silent no longer. “Father!” I used my hands to shield my face from Sesshomaru's poison claws. “Human,” he said, “you shall pay for your interference.” Sesshomaru punched me square in the jaw. I wiped the blood from my face and stood strong. I received blow after blow, but still, I stood. Slowly, I could feel the poison form his claws taking effect. My legs gave out and I fell to the ground. “You put up a good fight, but you are still no match for an inu-youkai like myself. Now, for this man.” I could only watch as Sesshomaru pierced my father's chest with his claws. He groaned in pain and fell to the ground. I strained to hear as he uttered his last words. “Goodbye, Mika.” I felt hot tears flow freely down my face. “Why? Why did you kill him?” Sesshomaru chuckled quietly. “Because I can. I think by now the poison should be taking full effect. You'll be dead soon enough.” As he said this, I could feel my eyelids getting heavier by the second. Slowly, I could feel the cold surrounding me. I almost thought I saw the sun rising as I succumbed to the darkness of death.”

Wait a sec,” Inuyasha interrupted. “What?” “Are you trying to tell me that you died?” “If you weren't so impatient, Inuyasha, I'm getting to that part.” “Feh. Well, just hurry it up, would ya?” “Okay. As I was saying…”

“I awoke a bit later, sunlight nearly blinding me. “Wait a sec. The sun is up? But that means…” I looked at my hands, flexing my claws. I shook my head slowly and violet hair passed briefly in front of my eyes. Suddenly, a shadow was cast over me. I looked up into the deep amber eyes of Sesshomaru. “Trying to kill me, a full youkai lord, and on your human night no less? What a brave, yet pitiful attempt, hanyou.” He sneered while saying the last word, as though he had just smelled something horrible. I merely stared. This cold, uncaring youkai, who had slain countless innocents, had saved me. “You are pathetic. You risked your live over some foolish human. Why would anyone, even an ugly half-breed, do such a thing?” Angry as I was, I refrained from lashing out. I still had a question in need of an answer. “Tell me,” he continued, “what did that human mean to you, that Yuki? Was he a friend, a relative, your father?” I gasped inwardly. “He knows! He knows I'm Rika's child! He'll kill me on the spot if I confess!” Calmly, I answered. “My father was a youkai, not a human. He was killed by wolf youkai shortly after my birth. My mother was cast out of her village for lying with a demon. We found a new village to call home and, just before her passing, she left me in the care of Yuki. He was my protector and caretaker. That is what he was to me. Nothing less, nothing more.” Sesshomaru scoffed slightly. “Well, an interesting tale. Yuki did act as though he cared deeply for you. No matter. He is dead now.” With that, Sesshomaru turned and began to walk away. “Wait!” He turned his head slightly. “Perhaps you are wondering why I did not allow you to perish?” I gulped. I knew not whether I was ready to hear his answer. “Y…yes. Please… tell me.”
