At the well, Shippo tearfully said his goodbyes as Inuyasha took him and Kirara back to the Feudal Era. After a moment, he came back for Mika. “Hey, Mika, before we go back, could you give me a couple minutes alone with Kagome?” “Sure thing, Inuyasha. I'll wait outside.” Mika left the shrine and stood near the Goshinboku. Though they spoke quietly, Mika's hearing picked up every word they said.

“Kagome, I need you back with me. Please, I'll do anything.” “Inuyasha, I already told you, I belong in this era.” “Then, I'll stay here with you. Kagome, I can't live like this. I love you. I need you with me.” “You have Mika. Isn't that enough?” “No. I don't love Mika nearly as much as I love you.” His words cut through Mika like a knife. She held back her tears, not allowing herself to show weakness. “You don't mean that, Inuyasha. I know you care about her. You have to forget about me and move on.” “I can't forget about you. I love you, doesn't that mean anything?” “You have to stop this! You can't mourn for someone who isn't dead! Let me move on, Inuyasha. Please, I beg of you, let me live my own life. I can visit, but that's all.” “Kagome, please…” “No. Inuyasha, we'll always be close, like best friends, but you have to understand that's all we'll ever be. You have your era and I have mine. I'll come back every year on my birthday, the day I freed you from Kikyo's spell. We'll meet at the Goshinboku the same time every year until one of us passes on. Promise me that, Inuyasha.” Mika smelled saline and knew that one of the two was crying. “I promise, Kagome. I'll meet you at the Goshinboku every year.” The two embraced and Kagome called for Mika to return. Mika walked into the shrine and saw both had tear-stained faces. “Goodbye, Kagome,” Mika said. “Goodbye, Mika. Bye, Inuyasha. Don't forget our promise.” “Trust me, Kagome, I won't.” Inuyasha then took Mika's hand and the two leapt through the well.

“So, you're back now, are you?” Both hanyou were shocked to find Sesshomaru waiting for them on the other side. “What did you do with Shippo, Sesshomaru?” Mika asked fiercely. “Your kitsune companion and the two-tail are off playing with Rin. I've come to finish what we started, sister. I'm ready to fight you, to the death if necessary.” “You won't just leave this time, you're actually going to fight and fight fair?” “Yes, that is what you wanted is it not?” “Got that right.” Mika then turned to Inuyasha. “Inuyasha, this is my battle. Let me face him alone, one on one.” Inuyasha nodded as he watched Sesshomaru draw Tokyjin. “Are you ready to die, mutt?” Mika smirked and unsheathed her Kataki. “So sure of yourself, huh? You bet I'm ready! Let's fight!”

Mika held her Kataki high, ready to strike. “Crystal Hex!” Sesshomaru swiftly dodged the sword and landed in front of Mika. “Not quick enough, sister.” Sesshomaru moved to plunge Tokyjin into Mika's chest, but instead, she vaulted over her him, claws digging into his back. “How's that for quick?” Mika motioned to Kataki and flew back to her hand. As he turned, Mika plunged the katana into Sesshomaru's leg. If he was in pain, he did not show it. He pulled the sword from his leg and tossed it aside. Sesshomaru then raked Mika's face arm with his claws and she cried out. Inuyasha moved to help but Mika's gaze stopped him cold. Mika's words came back to him. “Let me face him alone.” Inuyasha stood down and watched as Mika jumped backwards and called Kataki once more. “I need an attack to stop him. Rika, help me.” As they had done the first time, the words formed in Mika's mind as she said them aloud. “Strike of vengeance!” The Kataki then split into three separate swords, each flying at Sesshomaru. As they struck, Sesshomaru winced in pain. As each separate piece hit their mark, one in his arm, two in his legs, Sesshomaru fell to the ground. Mika stepped towards him. “Do I deliver the final blow now, or do you wish to speak first?” “You have fought well, sister, this I admit. You are a worthy opponent, despite being a hanyou.” Mika smirked. “Well then, why don't we make a deal? I promise to let you live if you promise to help us gather the rest of the jewel. Think about it, Rin can have a female role model and we can finally all settle our differences.” Sesshomaru stood slowly and held out his hand. “It is a deal.”
