InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Vespa ❯ He's Gone ( Chapter 1 )
Driving down the road, her thoughts raced through her head. How could I have been so blind? He was always there. There when Naraku tried to kill me, when my mother died, when my family abandoned me. He was always there!
She hit the stirring wheel of her car as pulled to the side of the road. She sat there staring, feeling hopeless and at a lost. Feeling her eyes burned memories of them together broke through a frenzy in her mind and her heart ached at each one.
She doesn't know how long she stayed there on the side of the road, in the middle of the night. No cars passed and the street lights flickered as they just stood there. It was a full moon that night and looking at it made shivers crawl up her back. That strange feeling of wanting to ‘flee the moment you get there’ possessed her and she shot of there road and to her destination.
Him and her had always been friends. They did so much together from when they were 13 and blowing up fireworks over in the back of Kaede’s old shed. Of course later they admitted to everything when a cat had gone over and nearly died. Then dragged itself up her porch where they had both chased it down.
They went to the movies and made rude comments on all the boring parts of movies and throwing popcorn at all the younger kids. Once she had thrown a red lolly pop to some blonde girl where it was stuck the whole time and stayed there until her and her boyfriend started to make out.
Those were not the only things they did together, but now things had changed. That day that he kissed her had been one she would never forget. It was snowing that day and he got snowed in at her house. They had gotten in a fight before they realized this and they ended up in to separate parts of the house, but when he had heard a crash from her end, he raced over and inspected every inch of her being and celebrated and forgot himself. To her his lips felt soft but it was all too much for her.
Turning of the main road, she traveled down a private drive. Kami, I hope he's still here. Please tell me he's still here?! Coming to a complete stop she got out and started banging on the solid mahogany doors.
It went on forever until a little green man opened it, “What is the meaning of this?! Do you know what time its is?! Wait unt...” She cut him off and push him away. She ran through the house. Looked behind every door and in every bed. He's not here!
Going back to the front parlor, she grabbed the green man, “Where is Sesshomaru?”
“You ignorant woman! He has left already to the Americas.” With that the little man got out of her grasp and pushed her out the door in her blank state. Every thought ran through her head. He's gone. Now I cant ever see him again. I didnt get to tell him.
Five Years Later
“Vespa...Vespa,” the girl sat at her desk and the world around her was not even there. In the back of her head she her that voice calling her. It was like an itch she couldn't get and then finally, “VESPA!” The person screaming in her ear doubled over and laughed.
The other girl, Vespa, was now drenched in water that she obviously threw on her self and in her hand was the empty cup. The water started soaked through her cream blouse and stripped suit pants.
Looking up, she looked to the other girl and scowled, “Kagome, was that really necessary?!”
Kagome wiped the tears from her eyes, “Yes, actually, because you were an empty shell. You should of seen your face! It was priceless.”
“Yea, ok whatever,” Vespa raised from her chair and went to her drawer. taking out a blow dryer. Holding the green button down, one blow of air came out and completely dried her cloths.
Its been years since Vespa has last been in Japan and made her own business in California. When she first moved here she didnt know anyone or anything. It was a hard transition from there to here, but she survived. She had great friends and Kagome had just became you assistant when Kagome had just married and both moved here as well, two years after Vespa. Then she met James. Boy was he one thing she was lucky to get. He was intelligent, fun, incredibly hot and charming.
Just then something popped in her mind, “Kagome what's today's date?”
The raven hair girl turned in her chair and looked at the screen in her desk, “Ah, April 23, 2093. Why?”
“Kami, Im suppose to go to that company dinner things with James!” Grabbing her stuff and keys, she headed to the door. “Have fun without me!” Kagome yelled before the door slide close.

Wearing a deep purple silk dress with a beaded v-shape dip in the front and silver heels, Vespa held onto James’ arm. The color brought out her dark red hair and her unusual pale green eyes. Everything about her was perfect as James had put it.
Vespa didnt like these company dinner parties. She always felt like every woman on the staff was sizing her up on whether or not she belong with James. The thing is they weren't actually together. They were close and the sexual releases were there at times, but they had always seen other people at the same time. She honestly didnt want to be stuck in one with him and he didnt want to be weighed down so that had a sexual friendship.
Stepping out of the car, James held tight and protective at the same time as cameras shutters and flashes increased. Stand with a respectful space apart, like always, they were questioned by reporters and commented, “We are not in any relationship. We just come together to make sure the other doesn't get to wasted and cant find the right car.”
It was true. James had this drinking thing where he'd have an uncontrollable urge for another drink for another bet. This is how she met him actually. He was stumbling out of a hotel once and landed in a flower pot. Then coming upon him in such a state, she got him a room connected to one for her and to pity and all. Next morning, he was still passed out but was found naked on the floor.
Retreating from the reporters, the continued their trek into the building and into the main ball room. There people stood around and talked and some sat at talked. These things were absolutely boring in the beginning but by the time James hits the bar well we all know what'll happen.
“Have I told you tonight that you look lovely in that dress,” Vespa smiled at the feel of his breath on her ear and the kiss that landed next to it.
“No and I love that you told me,” she kept her eyes forward and heard him laugh. James’ favorite color for her was purple, he said it grew him to her and every time Vespa went shopping for one, she thought of him.
She held onto his arm with both hand and arm as they both entered the room and received greetings and compliments on the pair being coupled. They ignored these kind of words of course and continued on to finally meet James’ boss. They came up to a man with pepper hair, mustache and a kind face. She liked him the instant she saw him. With them stood a group of men holding onto glasses of wine, scotch, and any other drink possible.
Vespa didnt know how long she stood there from boredom and the smell of some of the men here was clouding her mind. Next to her she felt James laugh and saw him take a drink of his martini and feeling the consequences later tonight. She frowned and snorted at the thought of getting in bed with him tonight.
It was well into the night and Vespa sat by herself at the bar, a glass of water and her hand bag in front of her. James’ had long gone off on his own talking with the rest of the men around and all their women hung by their sides. She saw the looks on their faces and different feeling all the same. Each one was different like herself and each had the stories on how they got to their positions at that moment.
She sat their quietly as she stared into her glass, and twisted it on the napkin and sending colored lights across the table. To her those lights were beautiful. Im not of that beauty. Vespa thought she was no one special and thought of her life as one a celebrity would live. She went to the finest stores and the five star restaurants. She knew people of great wealth and had lovers from great and wealthy families. Family.
Crash
Vespa spun around to see glass fall to the ground, a table on its side with a table cloth crumpled next to it. Damn him. Collecting her things and walking over to the audience of laughing men, she made her way through to see James and other men drunk as hell. She sighed and just enjoyed her last moment there.
“James,” upon hearing his name, James looked up with a red face. He looks shameful. She grabbed the glass from his hand and smelled it, vodka, soda, and lemon. “God, James, cant you for once not drink.” Tossing his drink in a potter plant, she took off her heels, grabbed his arm and brought him to his feet. He reeked of alcohol.
It was actually when she got to the got entrance of the hotel that someone lifted James off her and held him themselves. Looking up, she was only able to gulp. There he stood five years later and he didnt change a bit. There in front of her, stood Sesshomaru.
“Thank you.”

They had him well into the back seat of the limo and Vespa stood just outside the door with her shoes on.
“C’est bien. Au revoir.” Vespa turned off her phone and stuck it in her bag. All the reporters had gone and the street was busy with night activity. Lights flashed and flickered and smoke came from passing cars.
Ignoring all activity she closed the car door and instructed to drive James home. Then waited for Sesshomaru to say something as they just stood there and watched the limo leave. She hated silence or more dead conversations. Breathing in, she left him and headed for a bench.
“What do you want?” it was a gentle whisper, but she knew he heard her. she could just imagine his eyebrow going up in one elegant move and that cocky little smile of his. Too much pride, she had always told him.
“I don't want anything.” He took a set next to her after throwing his jacket around her shoulders. He had been like that too, she remembered him being smooth and easy.
“Sure you do, then you wouldnt be here. On this bench. Next to me. The girl you left five years ago.”
“It was not my idea to leave.” Sesshomaru sat there like he was not guilty of anything.
“Not even a word to me. No goodbye. What a way a friend to act.” she got up and threw his jacket in his face. “Don't act patient with me. Its irritating Sesshomaru. You didnt even fucking write or call.”
“I know that you went to my house that day.” His voice was flawless. Calm like any lake in the mornings and cold as any blizzard. He's different now.
“You don't know shit Sesshomaru,” Vespa grabbed the handle to a cab and flung the door open. She threw her stuff on the seat and got in, slamming the door behind her.
