Inuyasha watched Miroku disappear around the corner. Doctor Shippo looked over at Inuyasha and said, "Please follow me to my office."

Together they headed for the office. As they walked through the halls Inuyasha's mind began to wander. He thought about the woman who had changed his life and the gift she was giving him.

When they reached the office the doctor took a seat behind his desk. He motioned for Inuyasha to take a seat.

Doctor Shippo folded his hands together and leaned forward. He looked Inuyasha in the eye. "When your wife was brought in she had a lacerated scalp and concussion. We had to stop the bleeding before we could do anything else. Head wounds tend to bleed a lot. She's still unconscious, but she's doing better," he explained.

"What about the baby?!" Inuyasha yelled desperately.
The doctor lifted a hand to placate the man in front of him. "I'm getting to that. Please be patient."

Doctor Shippo looked down at the file. He looked back up at Inuyasha with a smirk. "Mister Tsurubuchi did your wife tell you yet?"
"Tell me what?" Inuyasha wondered with panic in his voice.

The doctor continued to stare at him with a twinkle in his eye.
'This doctor is getting on my last nerve. He better tell me about Kagome and the baby right now or I swear I'll kill him,' Inuyasha thought.

"Is the baby all right?" Inuyasha pressed.
"Not baby, Mister Tsurubuchi. Babies."

Suddenly everything went black.

Inuyasha moaned and opened his brown eyes slowly. He was lying in a bed of some sort. As he looked up he saw a ceiling and lights.
'I'm still at the hospital,' he thought. 'But where is Kagome? And why am I in a hospital bed?'

He turned his head weakly with his eyes half open. His eyes suddenly shot open as his heart skipped a beat. "Kagome!"
She didn't respond. He could see where they had stitched up the laceration on her head. There was white gauze on the wound, which was on the right side of her head. Her forehead was wrapped to keep the gauze in place.

'She looks so pale,' he mused.

A nurse and Doctor Shippo were next to Kagome's bed looking at her chart. The nurse had her hands on her hips as she looked up at Inuyasha and said, "Quite!"

The doctor looked up to see Inuyasha staring at him.
"Glad to see you're awake," Doctor Shippo said.

"What happened? Why am I in a gurney?"
"You fainted.""How is she?"
"She's fine. The ultrasound shows that the babies are fine too. We want to keep her a few nighs for observation."Inuyasha gulped. "You keep saying babies. How many are we talking about here Doc?"

"Two. She's having twins."

That calmed him a little bit. When he said babies he'd been afraid they were talking about three or more.

Inuyasha tried to get up so that he could be next to Kagome, but Doctor Shippo stopped him.
"Sir, you need to lie down. You took a bad fall and I want you to rest. You hit your head on my bookcase." the doctor said as he examined his eyes with a penlight. "The CT scan showed that you don't have a concussion, so that's good. But you do have quite a bump on your head."
"Then can you at least move my bed closer to her so that I can hold her hand?" Inuyasha asked.

"Sure thing. Nurse?"
The nurse nodded and moved Inuyasha's gurney over until it was touching Kagome's. Inuyasha reached out and took his wifes hand.
'You're going to be okay, Kagome. I promise,' he thought.

Inuyasha was still sitting up as he held Kagome's hand. He laid back down as Doctor Shippo had ordered. He looked over at his wife, the love of his life, and smiled. They were having twins! Sneaky wench! She knew that they were going to have twins.

Again, the thought of two babies made him smile even more.

'And I almost didn't marry her all because of Kikyo Shinohara. The original bitch from hell.' he thought. Then added to himself. 'I shouldn't say that about Kikyo. After all, I was in love with her at one time.'

He continued to think. 'Kikyo wasn't like that in the beginning. When we met in the beginning of college she was much friendlier. Especially to me. To me she was the prettiest girl around. She had been five feet and seven inches tall, one hundred and twenty pounds with long black hair and brown eyes. She was my everything.'

Inuyasha sighed. 'But for some reason Sesshomaru and Miroku didn't approve of her. I mean Sesshomaru I can understand. He takes a long time to warm up to people, but Miroku is friendly to everyone. Especially women.'

'One day I was at home when I asked Miroku why didn't he like Kikyo. He said that something just wasn't right with her. That she seemed cold. Like she's hiding something and that I was "too in love with her" to realize it.'

He continued to remember his past. 'Of course that pissed me off. It pissed me off so much that we didn't hang around much for a long time even though we were roommates. I asked Sesshomaru the same question and got pretty much the same response.'

Inuyasha stared at Kagome's face. Somehow it felt wrong to think about this now of all times, but he couldn't help it. 'I was in love. They should have been happy for me right? But they weren't.'

'After that I didn't hang out with Seshomaru and Miroku anymore. Instead I started spending more time with Kikyo. However, her demands became more and more unreasonable. She wanted to go to the most expensive of resturants and she was always taking me to jewelery stores. But hanging out with her fuckin' snobby friends? That took the cake!'

Another sigh escaped him. 'At some point in our relationship I would avoid her all together. She had claimed that I didn't love her anymore. It became an everyday battle with her until I started to think the same thing.'
"I remember how she would call me all the time. Even in class...'

"Hey baby, what time are you picking me up for dinner?" she asked.

"Why?"

"I just want to know."

"Oh... How does seven sound?"
"Perfect, see you at seven."

'I knew something wasn't right. I told her yesterday that I was picking her up at seven and she's not the type of person to forget anything. I was going to call her back, but something told me not to.''When class was over and I got back to the apartment Miroku wasn't there. So I took a shower and got dressed. It was still early, but I decided to go to Kikyo's anyway.'

'Kikyo lived in an apartment off campus by herself. I remember spending many nights over there. We'd make love and talk about our future together. Or at least the future I thought we'd have together. That all changed one night.'

Inuyasha looked down at his watch and realized that he was forty-five minutes early. 'Eh, so what?' he thought.

He ran up to Kikyo's building and just as he was about to ring her bell, Nikki from his business class came out.

When she saw him she said hi. She knew both Inuyasha and Kikyo were dating. She held the door open for him with a smile. He walked in and took the elevator to the fifth floor.

Inuyasha walked up to Kikyo's apartment door and just when he was about to know he heard a male voice. He stayed quiet and listened intently.
"So, Kikyo... Does Inuyasha know about us?" asked the male voice.

'I know that voice,' Inuyasha thought."No and I want to keep it that way. Listen Naraku, what he doesn't know won't hurt him." Kikyo answered.

'WHAT THE FUCK?!!!' Inuyasha wondered. 'I know that bastard! He's in 'Advanced Business Management' with me!'

"Look, it's either him or me," Naraku told her.

"Can't I have you both?"
"What?! What kind of whore are you?!"That's when Inuyasha heard a slap. "Kikyo, I'm sorry. But you have to understand. I love you so much. You were mine before you even knew him!"
"I'm trying to look out for my future. He has money. You don't."

"That's what makes you happy?! His money?! Don't you have any feelings for the guy or for me?!" Before she could answer Naraku continued. "Why didn't you break up with me? Or better yet him? You should have told him that you had a boyfriend, but you didn't. Why?"
Kikyo sighed. "I don't know."

"You don't know?! What do you mean you don't know?! Cut the shit, Kikyo. This is me you're talking to! You don't give a shit about him! You only care about his money and what you can get out of this relationship you have with him!"
She sighed again. "Look, you really have to leave. I need to get ready because he'll be here soon."

"I won't leave until you tell me why, Kikyo! Why did you lie to him about us?! Why didn't you let one of us go?!"
Kikyo laughed. "Come on! Do you really think if I told him about you he would have dated me? He's an honorable man! Besides why should I break up with either of you when I can have both of you? I can have my cake and eat it too."

Naraku shook with fury at her audacity. "Now it's time for you to go," Kikyo said.
"Fine! I'm going! But this isn't over! Not by a long shot!

He stomped over to the door and opened it. Suddenly Inuyasha came face to face with Naraku.

"Well, well, well." Naraku sneered. "Looks like 'Prince Charming' has arrived early."
That's when Inuyasha lost it.

Before Naraku could say anything else Inuyasha punched him as hard as he could. Naraku's head snapped back just before he went down like a ton of bricks.

Suddenly Kikyo came running in from the bedroom.
"Naraku, what happened?" she asked. She looked up and as soon as she saw me her face went pale.
"You fucking bastard! I'm going to kick the shit out of you!" Naraku yelled as he held his bloody nose.
Inuyasha looked over at Kikyo. She walked over to Naraku and kneeled down next to him.
A rage Inuyasha had never felt before flooded through his veins. "You fuckin' used me! All your sorry ass cared about was my goddamned money?!" Inuyasha yelled at her.

She looked up at me. "You have it all wrong! I love you Inu-baby! I can't wait until we get married!"

"Wait a minute! You tell me the same thing every time we finish fucking," Naraku said. Then added in a whisper, "Minus the Inu-baby part, of course."

Kikyo didn't say a word. She looked at the floor as Inuyasha's anger flared. She couldn't stand to look at him when he looked like he was about to lose it.

"And you!" Naraku spat at Inuyasha as he struggled to get up. "Don't you talk to her with anything less than respect or I'll kick your ass!"

"You still want a piece of me asshole? Let's do this shit then! Right here and right now!" Inuyasha told him.

"Stop it you two! Just stop it!" Kikyo yelled as she pushed Naraku back down to the floor. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "Inuyasha, can we please just talk about this without my neighbors listening?"

"Bitch, what the fuck do we have to talk about?! You're a cheating lying whore and you need to stay the fuck away from me! WE ARE THROUGH!!!!!

With that said Inuyasha left. He didn't give a shit if she was crying or not.
Inuyasha was seeing red as he got on the elevator and left. When he finally got to his car he started it and drove around for a time. He ended up at Sesshomaru's place.
Looking at his watch he realized that it was exactly eight in the evening.

He walked up to Sesshomaru's apartment building and rang the bell. Sesshomaru buzzed him in. Inuyasha rode the elevator to the top floor. When he got to the door and opened it he noticed that Miroku was sitting there watching television.

Sesshomaru looked over at Inuyasha. He took in the state of his brother. He looked like crap. Finally he told his younger brother, "You look like shit. What happened?"
Inuyasha told them what happened between him and Kikyo.

Sesshomaru and Miroku just stared at him for a minute. Then they looked at each other.
"We tried to tell you," Sesshomaru said with a shrug.

"I'm sorry guys. I should have listened to you. Instead I treated you like crap. I hope we can still be friends."

"Friends?! Friends?! You didn't seem to think we were your friends when you chose that bitch over us!" Miroku yelled.

"But..." What could he really say? It was the truth. As soon as they said told him how they felt about Kikyo he had dropped them like flies.

"Blood is suppose to be thicker than water Inuyasha," Sesshomaru added.

Inuyasha took a deep breath. "Look, I know I messed up. I messed up big time. I'm sorry. Even if I didn't listen to you I shouldn't have just dropped you guys like that. I don't know what I was thinking."

"You were thinking with your dick," Miroku told him.
"No I wasn't! I loved her! I really did!"

"Didn't you care about us?" Miroku asked.

"Of course I did! I still do! Why do you think I came here and apologized?"
"Because now you have no one. You have nowhere to turn so you came here," Sesshomaru answered.
Okay, part of that was true. Inuyasha DIDN'T have anywhere else to turn. He didn't have anyone else in his life either. All his family, besides Sesshomaru, were dead. Miroku was the only person he trusted enough to call a friend. Not only a friend, but his best friend. However, that's not why Inuyasha had come here. He had come here to make amends that were long overdue.
"What do I have to do to prove to you I'm serious?" Inuyasha wondered.
"Oh, we know your serious. You're sorry now, but I bet twenty-four hours ago you weren't," Miroku pointed out.
"I always felt bad about what went down between us," Inuyasha said honestly.

"Not bad enough to seek us out."
"I didn't know you wanted me to. Besides, Kikyo told me that you just wanted to break us up because you were jealous. Jealous that she took all of my time. Jealous that I had the perfect woman."

"And you listened to her?!" Sesshomaru questioned angrily.

"She was anything but perfect," Miroku muttered.

Inuyasha looked at the floor. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything, but I guess it's too late to make up for my mistakes. They are my mistakes and I alone will take the responsibility for them. If that means I've lost my only family and my only friend then that's a cross I'll just have to bear. I'll just go now."
He turned to leave. As he walked to the door Miroku spoke up. "Inuyasha, wait."Inuyasha froze, but didn't look back at them. He expected a goodbye or maybe a good luck. Perhaps even something sarcastic. He didn't expect what he heard, though."I can't speak for Sesshomaru, but I forgive you."

Inuyasha turned around to face them and asked, "You do?"

Miroku nodded.

"This Sesshomaru forgives you as well." Sesshomaru said.

Shocked Inuyasha asked, "Why?"

"Because you are willing to own up to your mistakes. You're willing to take responsibility for your actions like a man," Sesshomaru answered
"I forgive you because if I didn't I'd feel guilty for the rest of my life," Miroku told him. "I'd feel guilty for not giving you another chance. We all make mistakes."

"That we certainly do," Inuyasha replied grimly.
Sesshomaru got up and headed into the kitchen. He came back out with three beers. He opened them and handed them out. One to Miroku, one to himself and one to me.
He lifted his bottle up to make a toast. "To Inuyasha's freedom."

Inuyasha rolled my eyes. We all lifted our glasses and in unison we all said, "To Inuyasha's freedom!"

After they toasted they ordered some Chinese food and watched a baseball game. Inuyasha still felt bad about the way he had treated Sesshomaru and Miroku. He had almost lost them over what? A no-good-lying-whore!Miroku glanced over at Inuyasha and asked, "Inuyasha? Are you okay?"

Inuyasha sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Just then Inuyasha noticed someone was missing."Hey, Sesshomaru? Where's Rin?" Inuyasha asked.

"Oh, Rin and Sango are at Rin's cousins apartment," replied Sesshomaru.
At the time her name was Rin Higurashi. She was Sesshomaru's girlfriend. They had been dating since freshman year at Tokyo University.As for Sango, she was Rin's best friend and the woman Miroku was trying to hook up with.

"Her cousin? Have I met her before?" Inuyasha asked.

"No, she came here a couple of times, but you were always with Kikyo and I didn't see you all that much."

Inuyasha looked down at the floor. "Sorry man..."

"Stop apologizing. That's in the past, all right?" Sesshomaru said. "Anyway she moved here to go to T.U. She's in the performing arts program. She wants to become a singer. From what I hear she's pretty good."

The food finally came. We ate it and had some more beer. After a while I got tired.

"Look, I'm going home. It's getting late," Inuyasha said. He turned to Miroku and asked, "Do you need a ride?"

Sesshomaru, who had left the room to throw out the beer bottles, came back inside. "Neither one of you are leaving," he told us.

"Why the hell not?" Inuyasha asked a little annoyed.

Sesshomaru held up his fingers and counted on each one of them as he made each point. "One; you've been drinking. Two; Rin and Sango are staying at her cousins place so you Inuyasha will take the spare room and Miroku will get the couch and three..." He smiled and lifted my car keys, jiggling them in his younger brothers face. "I took your car keys."

'What the fucking hell?! How did he get my keys out of my pants pocket?!' I wondered.

Miroku stood there in the living room cracking up at the look on Inuyasha's face.

"Do you want them little brother?" Sesshomaru teased.

"I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!!!!" I yelled at him and lunged for my keys.

Inuyasha opened his eyes and looked over at his wife as the memory drifted away. He climbed off the gurney and pushed it away, where he didn't care. There was a chair in the corner of the small curtained area. He grabbed it and sat next to Kagome's bed. He then took her hand into his and began to rub the back of it affectionately with his thumb.

"Come on baby. Please wake up," Inuyasha implored.
When she didn't respond tears started to form in his eyes. Within seconds they burst free and silently rolled down his cheeks.

Just then the nurse came in. Inuyasha wiped his eyes. He looked up and realized that he recognized her from earlier. She was the nurse with Doctor Shippo when he woke up.

"How are you feeling Mister Tsurubuchi?" she asked.

"Fine," he replied.
"Good. I have your release papers right here for you to sign," she said as she handed him the forms and a pen.
As he signed the papers the nuse began to read off the instructions for his after care.
"If you develop a severe headache, nausea or double vision please return to the emergency room. We also recommed that you see your primary care physician. I wrote down Doctor Shippo's number and hours on your copy of the release papers in case you want to make an appointment," she said.

"When Inuyasha finished signing the release forms he handed them back to the nurse. He looked down at Kagome and sighed. "When will she wake up?" he asked.

The nurse looked up from seperating the papers to look down and study Kagome.

"Mister Tsurubuchi, with head wounds like that it's hard to say. Your wife and twins are fine. We are monitoring them. Doctor Shippo is on rounds now, but will stop in and check up on your wife," she said and smiled at Inuyasha and handed him his copies of the release form.

Just as she was leaving Sesshomaru, Rin and Miroku pulled the curtains open so that they could all fit in the small space.
Inuyasha looked at the three before him. Rin's left arm was broken and in a cast. Sesshomaru looked worried and relieved at the same time. Miroku on the other hand looked like he had been crying. Right now though, he seemed fine. He looked at Inuyasha and smiled.

"How's Sango?" Inuyasha asked.

"She's fine. We just left her a few minutes ago. She wanted us to check up on Kagome," Miroku replied.

"And you Rin? How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine Inuyasha. They gave me some medicine so right now my arm doesn't even hurt." She looked over at Kagome and, seeing the state of her friend, began to cry.
"Don't cry baby," Sesshomaru cooed as he rubbed her back.

Miroku turned to Inuyasha. "What did the doctor say about the Kagome and the baby's condition?"

"They said the 'babies' are both doing fine," Inuyasha replied.

Sesshomaru and Miroku both traded looks before looking back at Inuyasha. Did he just say "babies?"

"Babies?" they said in unison.Inuyasha looked at Rin and smiled. "You knew didn't you Rin?"

"It was suppose to be a surprise, Inuyasha. She swore Sango and I to secrecy," Rin said quietly.

Just then a moan came from the bed. Inuyasha looked over into the prettiest baby blue eyes he'd ever seen.

"Inu... Inuyasha," Kagome moaned.

Inuyasha was still holding her hand. He leaned over the bed and brushed a strand of hair out of her face with his free hand. "I'm here sweetheart," he said smiling down at her. He then turned to Miroku and asked, "Can you go get the doctor?"

Miroku nodded and ran off to find Doctor Shippo.

"Inuyasha? What happened?" Kagome asked weakly. Her words sounded more like painful moans."Baby, you were in a car accident with Rin and Sango. The paparazzi were trying to take your picture," Inuyasha told her softly.Kagome opened her eyes a little more. "He... He hit the car... And..." Suddenly she bolted upright as she yelled, "Oh Kami!! The babies! Rin! Sango! Are they all okay?!" Inuyasha grabbed her shoulders and pushed her back down onto the bed gently."Calm down Kagome," Inuyasha said and gently kissed her lips. When he pulled away from her he said, "The babies, Rin and Sango are all doing fine."

Rin walked over to the bed. "I'm fine Kagome. I just broke my hand when the airbag deployed," she told her holding up her arm to show Kagome her cast."Where's Sango?" Kagome asked."She's resting. She had a mild concussion and will be released tomorrow," Inuyasha replied.

Kagome sighed. Inuyasha kissed her again. She looked up and smiled at him as she said, "You found out about the twins, didn't you?"Inuyasha smiled a big smile. "Yes."Just then Doctor Shippo and Miroku walked in.
"Good to see that your awake Misses Tsurubuchi," Doctor Shippo said as he walked over to Kagome's bed and picked up her chart. "Would everyone please leave while I examine her?"
Sesshomaru nodded as he led Rin and Miroku out. "I will call you later little brother," he told Inuyasha as he was leaving.

Inuyasha watched them go before turning back to the doctor. He stood his ground and said, "I'm not leaving."
Doctor Shippo just sighed.

Kagome smiled up at her husband. "That's okay, doctor. I want him to stay."Doctor Shippo took the penlight out of his pocket and started to shine it in Kagome's eyes. Inuyasha noticed that she winced a little.
"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

The doctor looked at me as if to tell me to shut up and then went back to what he was doing with Kagome."What's wrong?" Inuyasha repeated his question.

"Calm down, Inuyasha," Kagome told him.Doctor Shippo walked over to the light and dimmed it a bit before asking, "Is this better?" He looked over at Inuyasha and saw a scowl on his face.

"Mister Tsurubuchi, I need to explain something to you," the doctor said. "One, please lower your voice. I'm sure it's not helping your wife's headache. Two, your wife's and the babies vitals are all normal. Three, what your wife is experiencing is common with a concussion."

Inuyasha turned and looked at Kagome. "I'm sorry baby. I'm just so worried because I love you and the babies so much," he said kissing her forehead.
"I called your OB/GYN. Doctor Kaede said that she will be by tomorrow to look over your chart and talk to you. In the mean time our OB/GYN on call will stop in sometime later today to check on the babies," Doctor Shippo promised. "Get some rest, Misses Tsurubuchi. The nurse will check up on you in about a half hour." He then wrote something on Kagome's chart.
When the doctor left, Inuyasha felt Kagome tug on his hand. She pulled me down for a kiss and smiled as she said, "Mister Tsurubuchi, we're having twins. A boy and a girl. Surprise!" she laughed.
"Hell of a surprise, Misses Tsurubuchi," Inuyasha told her and kissed her lips softly.He placed his hand on her eight month pregnant stomach. His eyes went wide as he felt one of the babies give a swift kick. Inuyasha leaned down and kissed her stomach gently."Mommy needs her rest guys. Time to go to sleep. I'll be waiting here for you," Inuyasha said rubbing her stomach.
