InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Void ❯ Headache ( Chapter 6 )
A/N: Lol, I actually got over my writer’s block in this story long enough to write a chapter!
Albeit, not a very vital chapter, but still, it’s a chapter! ^_^
-Tryst/Punishment of the Inu - Lol, yeah. That, and the fact that I don’t really have any answers to your questions. Not yet anyway. My mind hasn’t thought that far ahead! ^_^ Hey, I noticed when I was looking at your stories that you don’t have your challenge posted here. Why not? There are a lot of different readers here than there are on AFF, you never know, you could get someone besides me writing it. ^_^
-loulousan4279 - Lol, yeah a few people have been after me about that. Sorry if the ‘ bother you, but that’s just the way I prefer to do it. For one, that’s the way one of my english teachers told me to do it (not that I ever listen to them) and I actually don’t like using “ for speaking because “ means that you are quoting someone. Since I’m not techinically trying to write it like someone it quoting themselves every time they open their mouths, I prefer to use ‘. But still, I understand why other people use “ -- It can be less confusing that way sometimes. ^_^ -- Yay, I breathed life into the fanfiction world! Though really, you should give thanks to Tryst/Punishment of the Inu -- She’s the one who came up with this challenge. I’m just the one writing it. And to answer your question... Kagome? Hm. No, I actually don’t think she will be. I can’t say for certain, but, even if this is AU, I still think that Kagome is from the future, and she should stay there. Unless I could come up with a plausible reason for her to be in the past (or just decided “to hell with it” and gave her a life there) I don’t think she’ll show up. I may use some of the other characters though. Which reminds me, I don’t know if you’re aware, but this is a yaoi fic. And it’s likely going to be between Inu/Sess. I don’t want to drive you off, but your review kinda worried me slightly and I figured I’d better warn you just to make sure you didn’t run into anything that might burn your eyes out. Anyway, hopefully that doesn’t ruin it for you, but if you decide to stop reading, that’s fine too. I’m just glad that you made it this far. ^_^
DISCLAIMER - Still don’t own Inu... *sighs*... you just had to make me say it, didn’t you? : ( ~*~ Headache
Inuyasha groaned and shifted slightly.
Fuck!
He wasn’t entirely certain what had happened, but his head felt like he had drunk a hundred bottles of sake and then pounded it against the wall for an hour or two.
In fact, now that he thought about it, there wasn’t a single part of his body that didn’t ache, and he wasn’t really certain how he had accomplished that, since his hanyou blood should have saved him from this pain.
That was never a good sign.
What’s more, the air about him didn’t smell at all familiar.
It was slightly damp and musty and it carried the scents of numerous demons and humans upon it.
They were stale scents, mind you, but scents nonetheless, and it instantly caught his attention because, in more than a few ways, it was familiar.
It reminded him of the dungeons and torture rooms his father had, though those always smelled much worse-- reeking of blood and fear and panic and hunger and just plain filth.
In fact, if the pain and depravation of those places didn’t kill you, the smell alone would most certainly be enough to effectively rid you of your senses.
However, since there was no blood (or at least not a lot of it) and not a whole lot of fear present in this place, Inuyasha presumed that it was simply a dungeon used for holding prisoners, not a room used to torture them-- though sometimes those things were one in the same. His father had always claimed that one of the greatest tortures in the world was being forced to watch others be tortured and knowing that was going to happen to you eventually.
He had absolutely no idea if it were true. The only people he had watched being tortured he was usually the one torturing them and he had learned to detach himself from that. The demons and humans all blurred into one, their screams fading into white-noise in the background, and he never could tell one from the other. The only thing that alerted him to the fact that he was hurting something alive was the smell and feel of blood and fear in the air. And he was slowly learning to block those out as well.
But that hardly effected anything at all at the moment.
It didn’t really matter what sort of room he was in, either way he was still locked up-- he was still someone’s prisoner. And, if his suspicions were correct of exactly who that someone was, there was no way this situation could come out good for him.
They had him as their prisoner-- had captured him. And done a damn good job of it too, if the bindings on his wrists and ankles were anything to go on.
He shifted slightly on the unrelenting floor beneath him and dared to crack open his eyes.
Big mistake!
His head instantly began spinning around violently in protest, and a wave of nausea washed through him, threatening to release the contents of (or maybe the whole damn thing judging by the feel) his stomach at any moment.
Gritting his teeth and offering his stomach a low growl, warning it to stay put (another action that caused pain to shoot through his head) Inuyasha forced his eyes to open again and remain open, this time actually getting a glance at his surroundings.
Yep, it was definitely a dungeon alright.
And, judging by the looks of those bars, it was a dungeon designed especially to keep all kinds of prisoners inside-- demon, human or half-demon.
Groaning again, Inuyasha allowed his eyes to slid closed, trying to pinpoint the time and means by which he had actually arrived here.
Okay, so, first there was the armoury and Tetsusaiga, then his father practically groping him in the front all, leaving, wandering aimlessly across the land, catching scent of Sesshomaru, finding him, fighting with him, the demon’s poison claws coming toward his eyes and the world going black for him and then...
Inuyasha frowned as his memory suddenly failed him.
‘Well then, I guess that’d be when I was brought here.’ His mind supplied for him, and he snorted.
‘Yeah, thanks for that, genius.’ He shot back at himself, unconsciously saying it out loud and then freezing at the sound of his own voice as he realised he was having a potential argument with himself. That in mind, he instantly fell silent and changed the flow of his thoughts.
‘Okay, so, dog-boy blinded me and knocked me out, and then, presumably, brought me here.’ His mind began again in an attempt to rationalize the situation, and doing a fairly poor job at it, he might add. ‘Why? What good could possibly come of this? What does he want with me?’
He wracked his mind, trying to find some reason why the Daiyoukai would have deemed it a good idea to bring him here and not just kill him outright, but he came up empty, and he concluded that there was, clearly, no logical reason for him to be here, and that this Sesshomaru guy was very likely insane.
‘Probably some sadistic freak who just brought me here for his own twisted pleasure.’ He thought, and then snorted angrily, wondering why this Sesshomaru had never gotten along with his father. Their personalities sounded similar enough.
Inuyasha glared without opening his eyes.
‘Bastards!’ He thought, before turning his head to the side, wincing as another bold of pain shot through his head and neck.
Dammit, that guy must have hit him hard for him to still be effected so much this long after.
Inuyasha frowned.
‘Feh! What the hell am I talking about? I don’t even know how long I’ve been knocked out, let alone how long I’ve been here!’ He thought at himself, before realising that this could, once again, lead to another argument with himself, and cutting that train of thought off as well.
He idly entertained the thought of getting up and trying to smash through the bars of the cell, but again remembered that they were probably specially made to keep youkai and ningens in, and he doubted he would have any success.
Besides, it would be a little difficult to do with his hands tied so firmly behind his back.
Sighing, Inuyasha closed his eyes again and rolled onto his side, resigning himself to the fact that he’d probably be stuck here for a very long time-- until Sesshomaru deemed it time to come here and get him. Or kill him.
Either way, he was trapped, so it didn’t really make that much different to him anyway.
He had no real doubt that, in the end, the dog would kill him.
So why should he waste time worrying over it?
He had been anticipating death for a long time, and was not afraid of it’s coming.
It might even be a blessing if it got him out of this hellhole called earth.
Right now, though, he’d much rather be sleeping than wondering when and how his death would come.
After all, “worriers and the easily frightened always make the best prisoners. -- Half the fun is how a person tortures himself.” His father’s voice said, and he quickly pushed it away, flattening his ears slightly, but knowing the words to be true.
So, if he accomplished nothing else, he vowed he wouldn’t give the bastard mutt the satisfaction of his own anxiety.
He felt himself starting to drift back into unconsciousness and he let himself go easily, submitting to it.
At least this way he wouldn’t have to deal with his damn headache anymore. ~*~
Glossary
Hanyou - Half-Demon
Daiyoukai - Great-Demon
Youkai - Demon
Ningen - Human ~*~
A\N: I thought that, since in this story Inuyasha is half-demon but not half dog-demon, it would be interesting to finally have him call Sesshomaru something like mutt, which he is constantly being called in the anime and having no real response to. ^_^
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed it, and hopefully I’ll be back with another chapter soon!
Ciao!
