~~Chapter 17: Decorating the Heart~~

He didn't like the way the make-up artist tapped her everywhere with powder. In the pathetic excuse for a bathing suit she was wearing, the man made sure every uncovered part of her body looked perfect for the lighting and for the powerful camera.

`She's perfect already. He better stop touching her.'

“Morikami-san, it makes me nervous when you growl like that.” Ruby Yamada said, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Keh” He mumbled and looked at Kagome. Ruby shook her head before grabbing her camera and walking over to Kagome, quietly explaining what poses Kagome had to do. After a very thorough argument, InuYasha had stated he would accompanying Kagome to her second photo shoot. The photo shoot was courtesy of Taishou Inc. who was collaborating with a new perfume line. Kagome would be the face of the line.

He only watched as Kagome worked for the camera. `Model? I don't like it. She doesn't look like she's enjoying it that much either. I can smell she's not comfortable.'

`But she looks gorgeous.'

`She always looks gorgeous.'

After what seemed like days, Kagome stepped over to him and sunk down on his lap. “I'm tired” she whispered. He wrapped his arms around her.

“Go get this make up off you and I'll take you home.”

She smiled. “Your home?”

He kissed her temple. “My home is your home, love.”

She nodded and kissed him before getting up and going with the make-up artist to take off all the make-up he had place on her. He waited another hour before Kagome showed up again, fresh and natural. She smiled tiredly at him. He scooped her up in his arms and she grinned, letting her head fall to his shoulder as he carried her out of the agency and in to his car.

“I don't remember my mother much. I just remember she used to sing to me to get me to sleep. I remember she was beautiful, but sad.”

“I'm sorry,” Kagome said, leaning against InuYasha's shoulder.

“It was a very long time ago, Kagome.”

“I remember my father always had a smile on his face. He used to make Mama very happy and in the mornings when Souta and I ate, he would come and twirl her and kiss her before saying good morning to us. I remember his smile and how safe it felt to be held by him.”

InuYasha rolled over on his bed, rested his cheek on his palm. “I'm sorry Kagome.” She smiled and snuggled to his chest.

“It's ok, puppy, I have you.” Kagome sighed against him. His ear twitched. “You make me feel safe. I love it.”

“Good” He said, pinning her down. His silver hair fell over his shoulder, ticking her beck. Even fully clothed in his `pajamas' InuYasha still made her head spin just by being near her. He buried his face in to her neck, inhaling her scent in.

“I think we should decorate your house.”

Our house,” he whispered.

“I didn't hear you,” Kagome said, nudging his shoulder.

He sighed. “For what?”

“For Christmas, silly.”

He leaned up on his forearms. “I've never decorated my house for that.”

Kagome leaned up and kissed his nose. “I think we should. But if you don't want to---”

He silenced her with a kiss. Letting the roller coaster of emotions take over her, Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck, letting him tease her with his lips. She dove her hands in to his hair, kissing him deeper, opening her mouth and welcoming the sensation of being teased by InuYasha. She held on to him tightly. `Don't you ever let me go InuYasha.'

“I won't…” He mumbled. Kagome sighed against him and opened her eyes to meet the intensity of his stare. Unable to do anything but stare back, Kagome swallowed hard. She could be lost forever in his gaze. His eyes were darkened. She always saw his golden hue darken when their passion took over. She smiled and kissed his nose.

“Your wish is my command, Kagome my love” `my mate'

She giggled.

Bright and early, Kagome and InuYasha had gotten up and gone to pick the perfect Christmas tree. After much thought and picks, they chose a huge and healthy tree. She was amazed when InuYasha easily carried the tree in to his mansion. They had set it up and the spending on decorations began.

Being dragged up and down snow-blanketed Tokyo, Kagome had gone crazy with choosing the prettiest decorations. Christmas tree balls, ribbons, little figures, lights, cooking utensils, bells, and mistletoes. He had chosen crystal figures to go on the chimney which Kagome had been to shy to take. He had to admit, spending the day Christmas hunting with Kagome was rather entertaining.

After carrying all those bags in to his house, they set to work. “That goes over here.” Kagome said, standing up to point to the empty spot on the Christmas tree. He hung the red ball in its place before sinking down next to Kagome, who was hooking up all the tree lights together.

“We have to put the star on top.” She said, a genuine smile on her face. He nodded and stood up to take the golden star they had picked.

“You're wife has beautiful taste Morikami-san.” The woman behind the cash register said. She offered him a big smile.

Instead of denying Kagome was his wife, InuYasha grinned. “She does, doesn't she?” He stared at her as she grabbed one more set of Christmas candles. She caught his stare and blushed.

“Its beautiful isn't it?” Kagome stepped back to admire their tree work. Besides her and with his arm draped around her waist, InuYasha nodded. He stood in front of her, sunk down to wrap his arms around her knees and picked her up.

Kagome squealed and grabbed on to his shoulders. “InuYasha!”

He laughed, he actually laughed, a genuine laugh that sparkled his eyes. “You are the best, Kagome.” He twirled with her and set her on her feet.

With a laugh, Kagome hugged him tightly and leaned up to kiss him. The shock of their lips meeting reverberated through her. She sighed against him, fell against him as his arms tightened around her. Time always fell away when she was in his arms. His tongue ran across her teeth.

She moaned.

His claws tickled her hip. She groaned.

His velvety lips trailing butterfly kissing across her jaw made a broken version of his name escape her lips. “InuYasha…the rest of the house?”

He sighed and kissed her one last time before nodding. She observed her work. The staircase railing had red and silver decorations wrapped down the length of it. InuYasha wrapped his arms from behind her. “You've made this your home.”

Kagome blushed. “I'm sorry.”

“Don't be. This is your home, Kagome. You belong with me.” He whispered. Kagome shivered. “This is your home, with me. Our house.”

“InuYasha,” she said dreamily, leaning back against him. She turned in his arms. “I do belong with you, by your side.”

“Always?”

“Forever” she declared before leaning against him and kissing him. “I have school tomorrow.” She whispered.

“I'll drop you off home.”

She nodded before enjoying his soul searing kiss.

“Shippou Kit, meet Kagome Higurashi.” InuYasha sighed as Kagome kindly extended her hand to Shippou.

“Kagome,” He said softly. Kagome returned his smile.

“I remember you Shippou, just a little bit. Tiny little kit jumping in to my arms.” She said. He nodded, green eyes glistening over. Before he could think, he pulled Kagome in to his arms, hugging her tightly.

Kagome wasn't scared. She returned Shippou's hug. “You were the best mother, Kagome” he whispered.

She leaned up to kiss his cheek. “Shippou”

He let her go and took her hand. “Kagome, this is Shiori, you knew her once. She's my mate.”

Kagome looked at Shiori, remembering Akina tell her about the hanyou. Shiori hugged Kagome and smiled. “You look wonderful Kagome.”

“Thank you. So do you, how many months are you?”

“Sharp as ever, Miko,” Sesshoumaru said from his seat on his couch. Kagura nodded her head in agreement.

Shiori chuckled softly. “Four months, Kagome.” She patted her belly. “And this little one is giving me the worst morning sickness ever.”

“Don't blame the pup,” Shippou muttered.

Kagome laughed.

The rest of the afternoon had gone smoothly. Funny stories about when Shippou was smaller, about when Shiori was smaller. Stories of how the great and mighty Sesshoumaru feared his mate when she became enraged.

`It feels like you belong with them right?'

`Yes'

`I like them, Kagome. I really do.'

`Me to.'

`Become InuYasha's mate.'

`Its too early. I'm not ready for that, I'm only eighteen. I'm not ready….not yet.'

`Eventually?'

Kagome smiled. `Maybe.'

“Kagome! Your friends are here!”

“Coming, Mama!”

Friday nights were always the best. It was Kagome's turn to host the slumber party. Ayumi, Eri, Yuka, and Akina were invited. By the giggles of the girls, she could tell all four of them were already there.

“Kagome!” Yuka said, going over to give Kagome a hug.

“And how is the future Mrs. Morikami?”

Kagome blushed. “Don't go that far.”

Akina shook her head. “I'm pretty sure Kagome doesn't feel comfortable you talking about Uncle and her in such a manner.”

The three girls gasped. “He's your uncle?”

Akina read Kagome's “thank you” eyes and nodded once. “More or less. I'm the daughter of his business partner. I think of him as my uncle. He's spoiled me since I was three.”

The girls turned their attention to Akina for the moment and Kagome smiled. After so many months, Akina had become like a sister to Kagome. The girls gathered around the living room, chatting away and gossiping. Yuka was painting Kagome's toe-nails while hers dried. Ayumi chatted away about a boy that had transferred to their school in September. An American boy named Zachary Serrano.

“He's so cute and so mysterious.” Ayumi gushed.

“Ayumi has been crushing on him for weeks now.”

Akina laughed. She knew the boy also. He was youkai, he was a water-youkai. She shook her head and rubbed her eyes.

“Ayumi, don't molest my poor pillow,” Eri said, plucking the pink pillow from Ayumi's grasp.

Ayumi blushed. “I'm not sorry for daydreaming of Zachary.” She declared. She suddenly smiled wickedly. “So tell me Kagome, have you and InuYasha done it?”

Kagome chocked on the popcorn she was eating. “What?”

Ayumi smirked. “You heard me. We're all best friends here, we can trust each other. “Have you and InuYasha done it yet?”

It?” Kagome asked, confused.

“Sex, Kagome! Have you had sex with InuYasha yet?”

Kagome groaned softly as she felt her face flame up. “N-No…”

“Really?” Eri said. “Wow, Kagome. Are you lying?”

Kagome sighed. “No. We haven't done anything.”

Akina shook her head. “Have you ever done it Ayumi?”

Ayumi rose to Akina's challenge. “I'm not ashamed, yes, Akina I have done it. Have you?”

Akina shook her head. “Not at all. My father keeps me away from all the action.”

“Eri have you?”

Eri turned tomato red. “Girls…”

“Have you?” Kagome pressed, laughing slightly when Eri nodded.

“Only once…”

Yuka shook her head. “Ayumi and Eri are the only ones.” She declared. “Would you ever give it to InuYasha, Kagome?”

The girl blushed. “I don't know. If he's the one, then yes, I think I would.” `You're dying for his touch already. Only honor for yourself has restrained you.'

`That doesn't matter. Its to soon, to early. I'm not ready'

`And you know InuYasha respects that.'

`I know'

“I don't know. If he's the one, then yes, I think I would.”

He grinned with pride. She was considering him. Unable to sleep without Kagome, InuYasha had run to her house only to find her bedroom empty. He followed the sounds of giggling girls and from the top of the stair case he saw Akina, Yuka, Eri, Ayumi, and Kagome discussing none other than sex.

He sucked in his breath when he saw Akina turn around to look at the stair case. He knew she had picked up his scent already. Snorting, he came down the stairs and Mrs. Higurashi saw him. She was carrying a tray of snacks for the girls.

“InuYasha! I didn't know you were coming.”

Kagome stiffened. “Hello Mrs. Higurashi.” He leaned down to kiss Mrs. Higurashi's cheek. “I just missed Kagome is all.”

The woman smiled and continued to go to the girls. “Girls I brought you snacks.”

“Hello” InuYasha greeted. Ayumi, Eri, and Yuka sighed. Kagome groaned softly and Akina just rolled her eyes.

He sunk down next to Kagome and leaned in to kiss her cheek. The group of girls made “awww” noises. “Girls, come on.” Kagome mumbled. InuYasha laid on the couch, inhaling Kagome's scent as she and her friends chatted, ate, played games, and did their girl stuff.

“Actually, I think I recall Akina walking with Zachary the other day.” Eri mumbled from her sleeping bag. Ayumi threw a fluffy pink pillow at Akina. The youkai-girl caught it on instinct and threw it back, mindful of her strength.

“He was asking me about a class we have together.” Akina said, tired. “Besides, Ayumi is the one that wants him.”

“That's right” Ayumi agreed. “So stay out of my way, Taka.” She said in a playful manner. Akina laughed.

“Wouldn't dream of getting in your way, Ayumi. Have your way with him.”

Slowly, the chatter died. Before long, InuYasha would hear the breaths of all the girls but one even out. He stood up and walked over to Kagome's sleeping bag. Bag and all, he lifted her up and hoped to her room. He let the sleeping bag drop and he closed the door.
“Mmm, InuYasha I'm tired.” She whispered.

“Then sleep my love.” He laid her down gently before slipping in besides her. Kagome immediately hugged him. Half-asleep she groaned.

“I don't like it when you sleep with your shirt on.” Kagome mumbled, grabbing his shirt and trying to pull it off his head. He chuckled, but let her `ravage' him. She pushed him back down on the bed.

“Better?”

“Yup” Kagome replied.

“Did you mean what you said? If I'm the one?”

Kagome nodded. “Yup. G'night my hanyou, l-love you.”

“I love you to”

He closed his eyes also and the calm that washed over him was the most comforting feeling. He woke up with a smile just knowing Kagome was besides him.

Kagome!”

Ayumi, Eri, and Yuka smashed in to Kagome's room. “I knew it!” Eri yelled. They all giggled together. Kagome quickly sat up and InuYasha yawned besides her. She shoved his shoulder and he groaned.

“Its Saturday Kagome, sleep.” He dragged her back down and held her tight. She couldn't fight against his youkai strength.

The group of girls giggled away and the hysteria began at being caught in bed with InuYasha.

From her sleeping bag in the living room, Akina made a face and tried to sleep. `Those girls are crazy…All three of them.'
