~~Chapter 20: The Buddy System~~
After slaving over her exams for two weeks straight, Kagome knew her entire school deserved the one week vacation that began as soon as the final bell rang. For the past two weeks, Kagome ate her textbooks and notes. She turned off her phone, ignored phone calls, and steered clear of anywhere besides her room. InuYasha had snuck in to her room only to be demanded he sat quietly and as still as possible if he wanted to be there. The architect had given up and quietly slipped out of the room.
Kagome scanned over the test, making sure her answers were final. `Everything looks good.' With that thought, Kagome stood up and slowly walked over to her teacher and placed her test on top of his desk. “Quietly, Higurashi” he whispered. Kagome nodded and returned to her seat, slowly taking her drawing stuff out and thinking up a few outfits that work in to the portfolio she had been working on for several months.
After InuYasha's birthday, almost three weeks ago, Kagome had stopped being self conscious around InuYasha. They had gone out the day after, the day Kagome had been forced to skip school. They passed by the park's fountain and InuYasha had been lifting her up when a journalist managed to take a single shot and ran for her life. InuYasha just rolled his eyes and let her go. The picture wouldn't do anything….except the very next day, be on the front page of the biggest newspaper in Japan.
After the initial launch of her `modeling' career---one that Kagome wasn't overly fond of---Kin had gotten her two more photo shoots. Now, not only was she InuYasha Morikami's fiancé, she was InuYasha Morikami's model fiancé. Kagome planned to tell Kin to stop because she felt uncomfortable when walking down the street and her picture with the product she advertised was posted on the bus stop booths and billboards.
As far as school went, she was still waiting for the reply from the Prada and Parson's program. Everyday she would check the mail, hoping to get a `yes'. So far, nothing. As graduation was nearing, polls were being prepared. Like any other high school, the students voted “prettiest”, “best dressed”, “most popular”. Kagome wasn't really in to it that much, she preferred studying and chasing her call as a designer.
“Kagura mentioned you should branch out fashion designs.”
“Did she?”
Kagome nodded. “And what would we call the line?”
“What was your mother's name?”
“Izayoi.”
“Name it Izayoi, the fashion line I mean. After your mother.”
Kagome bit the end of the pencil, grabbing a blank piece of paper and outlining the beginnings of letters. She bit her lip. `Izayoi by K. Higurashi' Kagome smiled.
`That sounds okay'
She drew another letter, drawing a flower behind the `z'. `Oh? Then what would make it better?'
`If you ever do launch a fashion line, by the time you'd launch it you'll already be InuYasha's wife. Therefore, it would sounds better Izayoi by Morikami.'
Kagome blinked as realization hit her, a grin taking over her features. `…That sounds better'
`Sure it does? Presenting, elite fashion designer, Kagome Morikami, owner of the fashion line Izayoi, model for Fushigi na Modeling Agency, Japan, and wife of top architect, InuYasha Morikami.'
`Sounds dreamy…'
`Sounds like your title in the not-so-far future.'
Kagome looked out the window on the left. She signed deeply and smiled. `Kagome Morikami…I like that, I like it a lot.'

InuYasha carefully folded the small plain brown box, stood up, and slid it over to the delivery man standing before him. “Make sure she gets it in fifteen minutes. You wrote down the room?”
The young man nodded. “Okay then, you can go.”
“Yes, Morikami-san.” He said before quickly walking out of InuYasha's office.
Today was Kagome's final day of school before she had a week off. In honor of Kagome's hard work and vacation time, he was taking Taishou Inc.'s private jet and flying himself and Kagome to Paris, France.
The package he just sent was to tell her to pack right after school. He grinned and folded up the blue-print he had been working on. Sesshoumaru stepped in to the office, face calmed and poised.
“I just got a call saying the jet will be ready to leave at five-thirty today.”
He nodded. “Yeah. And?”
“And?” Sesshoumaru echoed. “And where are you going? You can't just take off.”
InuYasha shrugged. “Sure I can. I finished all the blue-prints. You present them, I'm drew `em already.”
“You didn't answer my first question.”
“France,” He said easily enough. “Kagome has vacation and I thought I'd take her somewhere nice.”
“So you chose Europe.”
InuYasha dropped several blue prints on his desk and nodded, reaching up to loosen his black tie. “If you wanted to go somewhere, there are more jets. I'm just taking one.”
“I will not go anywhere,” Sesshoumaru suddenly broke out in to a smirk. He turned around and raised his hand slightly. “Have fun with your Miko.” He said `fun' in a fashion that proved he didn't like the word the slightest bit.
“Keh! Have fun working…Don't let Kouga touch my things. Don't let Melissa in here either,” InuYasha made a face. His secretary, Melissa, had a penchant for slipping in to his office when he wasn't there. She didn't say anything, but he always smelt her scent when he did arrive. Just what the hell was so interesting about his office?
He nodded in agreement and stepped out of the office. Grabbing the blue prints he shortly followed. Going to Melissa's desk, he dropped the blue prints on her desk outside his office. She jumped up in her chair, brown eyes lifting up, marked with an unasked question.
“When Kouga asks for them, give them to him. There are four here, I expect him to receive four. Clear?”
Melissa nodded and leaned back. “Crystal. I hear your slinking off to Europe.”
He stared at her. “I'm not slinking off.”
She rolled her eyes. She had worked for InuYasha for the past seven years. “With your fiancé?”
“Obviously,” He snapped. “Make sure Kouga gets those.” With that said, he walked away, going to find out if the delivery-man he sent did his job and got the package to Kagome within the fifteen minutes he had demanded.
Melissa rolled her eyes, opening up her magazine again. She opened it up and saw a picture of InuYasha's said fiancé staring back at her. `His fiancé…pfft! A nobody for one of the richest men in Asia.' The girl's eyes taunted her, told her she had what Melissa didn't.

`This is dull'
`Shh!'
Kagome frowned as she paid attention in class. She tried to anyways. Her ring caught the glimmer of the sunlight, making it sparkle. She sighed dreamily. “Higurashi!” She jerked up. “Continue reading.”
Blushing, Kagome slowly stood up and picked up where her sensei had left off. By her third word, the classroom door opened and in came a man with a small package. He stepped over to the teacher. “Kagome Higurashi?”
“She's right there,” The sensei jerked his head towards Kagome, who was standing with the book in her hands. The delivery-man stepped over to her and placed the package on her desk and shot her a smile.
“Wait,” She grabbed his arm. “Who is this from?”
The man blinked. “Morikami-san.”
With that, he turned around and left the classroom. Without a second thought, she quickly sat down and opened up her package. “Kagome,” Her sensei said, frowning.
`In a sec!' She gasped softly, smiling happily. She grabbed the single red rose and lifted it up, staring at it before setting it aside, There she saw her favorite chocolate, the one that had been introduced to her in New York. The `Snickers' bar. Underneath the chocolate was a card. She grabbed it and opened it.
“Aww! Your fiancé is so cute, Kagome.”
::<3::<3::
Kagome,
I have a surprise trip for you for your vacation. Pack your bags and be ready by five. I love you.
InuYasha.
::<3::<3::
`At five?' Kagome thought frantically.

“And the note didn't say to where?”
Kagome shook her head, grabbing her duffle bag and opening up her drawers. Mrs. Higurashi sighed and smiled. “I'm sure you'll have fun, dear.”
“Oh of course she will!” Ayumi giggled. “InuYasha is just the cutest thing ever.”
Kagome didn't think as she took her clothes and placed them in to the bag. Ayumi helped her pack, put her things away and arrange whatever she needed. “Don't forget your credit card! Oh! Or your phone! And just in case, your bathing suit!”
“I'll bring some snacks up,” Mrs. Higurashi said, leaving the room. Ayumi grabbed Kagome and winked.
“Bring something sexy for him.”
Kagome blushed. “Ayumi…”
Ayumi grabbed Kagome's jeans, elected six of them, and folded them neatly in to the bag. “You know, I don't like Akina anymore.”
Kagome grabbed a rolling suitcase and neatly placed a dress inside. “Why not?”
Ayumi sighed. “I see almost everyday with Zachary and that, I don't like.” She closed the duffel bag. “Why would she go around with him when she knows I like him?”
Kagome sighed and shrugged. “I wouldn't know, Ayumi.”
“You talk to her more than I do, has she said anything about him?”
“Not at all.” Kagome frowned, looked at her make-up bag and hair clips. “You think I'll need all this?”
“Of course!” Ayumi helped her pack everything else and by four-thirty, they were finished. Kagome quickly showered and changed her clothes, electing a black skirt and a red top.
“Its cold outside, Kagome.”
Kagome made a face. “You're right.” She ran back in to her bathroom and came out with a pair of black dress pants.
“You look pretty, Ms. Model.”
Kagome laughed. “Thank you.” She brushed her hair and sunk down next to Ayumi.
“So how does it feel? To be the future wife of InuYasha?”
Kagome looked at her ring. “It feels amazing. I love him so much Ayumi, you have no idea.”
“That's cute.” She grabbed Kagome's hands. “Oh! I hope one day I get married to someone as sweet and amazingly handsome as InuYasha.”
Kagome threw her head back, laughed with her best friend. Mrs. Higurashi poked her head back in. “Kagome, there's someone here for your things.”
“Huh?” Kagome stood up and watched a tall young man came in to her room.
“I will take your bags to the limousine, Ms. Higurashi.” He said as he grabbed the duffel bag and the rolling suitcase. Kagome sat down on her bed, grabbed her red heels and put them on. She grabbed her jacket, her purse, and her cellphone.
“Bye Mama. I'll call as soon as I get wherever I'm going.” Kagome hugged her mother tightly.
“Take care of yourself Kagome. You have my blessings.”
“Thank you,” Kagome smiled and kissed her mother's cheek. “Bye Souta.”
Souta made a face when Kagome kissed his cheek. Ayumi and Kagome ran down the stairs and opened the door. They walked through the shrine grounds, hearing Grandpa's hollering behind them, demanding Kagome get back in to the house.
When they reached the top of the staircase, they saw a long limousine parked in front of the shrine, the limo-driver putting Kagome's bags in the back compartment of the car. “Oh that is so romantic!” Ayumi giggled. Kagome hugged her and went down the stairs.
“Bye Ayumi! Take care, I'll see you in a week!”
Would InuYasha be waiting inside with champagne and a flower? Kagome giggled as the driver opened the door for her. She stepped inside and instead of seeing InuYasha, Kagome was met with eight faces besides his.
“Kagome!” Shiori cried out, helping her inside the limousine. The driver closed the door and walked to the driver's seat.
“Umm…”
She held on as the limousine took off. InuYasha moved so he sat besides her. “Keh! It was supposed to be you and me. But fucking Sesshoumaru encouraged everyone to hop in to the trip. Fucking annoying people.”
Kagome blinked quickly and sighed softly and suddenly chuckled. Sitting in the limousine, talking, laughing, and drinking what the limousine offered were Shippou, Shiori, Raidon, Ayame, Akina, Kiyoshi, Rini, and Kagura. The ride to the airport was a loud one, InuYasha had his arm draped over Kagome's shoulder and a scowl on his face. Kagome talking with Kagura the entire time.
According to everyone, they had all joined the trip for several reasons. Shippo and Shiori joined because they needed a vacation. Shippou claimed it was, “good for my pup”. Ayame, Akina, Kagura, and Rini---now Raidon's fiancé---joined in the trip because they wanted to shop. Raidon and Kiyoshi joined because they had nothing better to do and because Raidon wasn't about to let his fiancé travel to Europe without him.
Once on the very beautiful and fancy jet, realization hit Kagome. `I don't know where we're going' “InuYasha, where exactly are we going?”
He leaned in closer, “Paris, my love.”
She broke out in to a very large grin, and kissed his cheek. “Wow! I can't believe this! Paris!”
He hugged her tightly when the jet took off, heading to the city of love. The first half of the trip was quiet, mostly relaxing on the plane. Kagome leaned against InuYasha who worked his magic fingers on her back. She cracked an eye open and saw Raidon and Rini talking, her braiding his hair.
`We don't know that much about her do we?'
`Rini?'
`Yeah. We've only seen her once or twice at most.'
As is Kagura read her thoughts, she said, “Rini, tell us about yourself.”
Rini stopped braiding Raidon's black hair and looked at Kagura. “What would you like to know?”
“What's your full name?”
“Rini Xenon.”
“That's a kick ass last name,” Kiyoshi said from his seat on the recliner chair. Rini blushed. She was very small, barely reaching Raidon's shoulder. At most, Rini was five feet, two inches. She was very slender to, but her curves were unmistakable. Her wavy red hair fell around her, framing her nicely. Her hair was redder than Ayame's hair. More than her very beautiful face, the human girl possessed the most gorgeous eyes. A teal so natural and magical, it was no wonder why Raidon had initially pursued her for a full six months before she agreed to give him a chance.
“What are you studying?”
“Journalism. I'm a junior in college.” She admitted with a smile. Her almost unnoticeable dimples made her look like a sweet, innocent girl when she smiled. Raidon played with the ring on her finger.
“What about your family?”
“My mother was a nurse and my father is the owner of the restaurant in Tokyo's Plaza. My mother died when she gave birth to my younger sister.”
“I'm sorry,” said Kagura. Rini shrugged.
“It was a long time ago,” Rini admitted, snuggling in to Raidon's chest. Kagome did admit though, talking to Rini during the few times they'd seen her had been fun. She was an extremely funny girl. “Why didn't Kin come along?”
“The woman.” Kiyoshi said, dropping the game controller he held in his hands.
“What woman?” Raidon asked.
“I think her name is Yamada---Minnamori Yamada's daughter.”
“The photographer?” Kagome asked, blinking. She remembered the girl take the pictures for her first photo shoot.
“Yeah, the photographer. What was her name?”
“Ruby…Ruby Yamada.” Kagome supplied.
“See! That's the one, Ruby.” Kiyoshi made a face. “He's been drooling all over her for the past two months.”
“You sound like you don't like her.” Akina said, crossing her arms over her chest.
“She's never said anything to me. She's tall, only about three or four inches shorter than Kin and Kin is pushing more than six feet.” Kiyoshi said, taking a sip from his soda. “She's beautiful, but she seems quiet.”
Kagome remembered the orders Ruby gave her during the photo-shoot. She wasn't quiet in the least.
“So what hotel are we staying at?”
InuYasha snorted. “I don't you where you're staying, but I made our reservations already. Keh! Don't ruin our trip.”
Raidon and Kiyoshi snorted.
“We all have to go back the same day,” Ayame said, looking at her second eldest son. Kiyoshi nodded in agreement.
“I say…”
“---buddy system!” Rini sat up in Raidon's lap. “Come on, so we don't get lost. Choose a buddy and stick with that person the whole trip. When we have to come back, we all won't be spread around.”
“I choose you,” Raidon said, wrapping his arms around Rini. She giggled.
“Oi! Who the fuck is supposed to stick with me? You're my twin, you can't leave me!” Kiyoshi yelled. Rini looked at Raidon, slipped off his lap.
“Umm…hello,” Shippou made a face.
“You're right Kiyoshi.” She looked at her fiancé. “Raidon, you can stay with Kiyoshi.”
“Buddy!” Akina jumped over and hugged Rini. The girls laughed as she stayed hugging.
Ayame shook her head. “Buddy?” She asked Kagura. The wind-sorceress nodded and they smiled.
“Buddy?” Shippou asked his mate.
“Women should stick with women,” Kagura said, calling Shiori over.
“I'm sorry, my mate, but I'll stick with the girls.”
Shippou snorted. Kiyoshi and Raidon sunk down on either side of him. “I lost my mate.”
“Keh! This is stupid.” Kiyoshi snorted.
“I lost my fiancé.” Raidon reached over and whacked Kiyoshi's head. “Your fucking asshole! She was my buddy before you complained!”
“Now its my fault?”
“Kami, shut up.” Shippou said, smacking both brothers.
“Feh!” InuYasha buried his nose in Kagome's neck. “The sooner we get there, the faster we'll get rid of them.”
Kagome laughed. Paris, France it was.
