Chapter 12
At Home
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha
Kagome sighed as she sat at the kitchen table drinking her steaming cup of coffee. It was about five in the morning and Kagome had woken to the sound of birds, not the nice, cute, quiet birds outside, but rather the squaking ones on her alarm clock. It scared the shit out of her every morning, but there wasn't much she could do. Music never woke her and there were only a few other choices, Rainfall, wind, waterfall, river, night, bubbles, and heartbeat. The first one she tried was heartbeat and that didn't go over well when she bolted up to answer the door, only to find no one was there and remember halfway back to her bed that it was her alarm clock. The next was bubbles. That was scarier then birds. The room would be dead silent then `bloopbloopbloop!!!!' then silence, then the same `bloopbloopbloop!!!!!'. After that it was waterfall. She woke up thinking some stranger was in her shower and called 911 before figuring it was her alarm, that was embarrassing. Rainfall was ok, except for the loud crashes of thunder that freaked out Kin. Wind, ha! She woke up thinking she was in the movie twister. Not pleasant. River, wow. She had that for three morning and every time she woke up running into the bathroom barely making it. Birds was the only one she could stand. Now she wasn't so scared with it, more on annoyed. She sighed as she stared at the small invisible crack in the wall slowly sipping her coffee listening to the soft ticks of the clock. In a few minutes she would wake Kin up, get him dressed and packed and take him to work with her, of course dropping him off in the back where the other kids stayed just like every other work day. She took a deep sigh willing away all thoughts of Inuyasha. It was now already two weeks since his mother had visited her, and just like all other times she didn't hear from her except for once awhile ago, when she apologized and said she wasn't going to be able to take her up on her offer to see Kin. Kagome knew it probably was right that she didn't, it would make things easier on them all. Kouga and her had gone on another date a few days ago, and it had turned out nicely. A nice dinner at a fancy restaurant and later a movie then dancing. He was really a charming guy, she was even able to admit she was kind of looking forward to their date tonight, and yet not. Things were now starting to get serious and she knew she had to tell him tonight, the question was how? Sighing once again she set her finished cup in the sink and shaking her head to get those thoughts out. She would figure it out when she came to it. She let the warm water flow softly over her hand as she rinsed the cup out and set it in the dish rack. She wiped her hands on the towel laying by the sink before folding it and putting it back. Walking back to Kin's room she opened the door and walked over to the side of his bed turning on the lamp and slowly getting him up, of course like his father he groaned.
“Come on sweetie, when we get over to mommies work you can sleep.” She grunted picking up the half asleep boy and holding him while trying her best to get his clothes. She set him down in front of the dresser and kneeled in front of him placing his now unfolded clothes on her lap. “Ok arms up.” She instructed and Kin rubbed his eye streaching up one hand before putting up the other also. Kagome took the hem of his sleep shirt and pulled it over his head cautious of his ears exposing his soft small chest and belly.
“I wanna sleep more mommy.” Kin whined as Kagome put his shirt right side out and threw it by the door.
“You can when we get to mommies work.” Kagome said holding up his shirt. Kin just crossed his arms taking a step back and extending his lip in a pout. Kagome sighed smiling and shaking her head. “Do you wanna just go like that with no shirt?” Kagome giggled as Kin nodded still slightly pouting. “Are you sure? Cuz someone could just do this…” She giggled lunging foreward and wrapping and arm around him and using her free hand to tickle his stomach. Kin giggled and tried to push his mom's hand away from his stomach.
“Stop mommy.” He giggled.
“Will you put on your shirt now?” Kagome asked still tickling the youngster in her arms.
“Yes.” He giggled softly.
“What I didn't hear that?” Kagome giggled.
“YES!” He squealed and Kagome stopped letting him get up and step away slightly still smiling, now fully awake. Kagome held up the shirt again and he slipped his head in and wiggled his small arms into the sleeves as his mom helped him. When they finally finished getting him totally dressed they went into the kitchen and Kagome sat Kin down at one of the chairs and put a bowl down in front of him along with a spoon and napkin.
“Ok Mr. , what shall it be?” Kagome asked.
“Froot Loops!” Kin giggled.
“Coming right up.” Kagome said pulling out the box and pouring some in his bowl and adding some milk. Putting both items away she left Kin to his breakfast to go put on her uniform and pack some of Kin's toys. When she came back she found him just finishing and set his stuff by the door.
“Mommy all don!” He yelled carefully lowering him self to the ground and running over to her.
“Good, let me put it in the sink and then we can go ok?” Kagome said bending down to stroke her sons cheek slightly. She got up picking up his bowl and spoon setting it gently in the sink. “Kin make sure you go potty before we go!” She called to him.
“Kay!” He called back and she could hear his little feet pad on the floor and the bathroom door close. She giggled a little thinking about him being so much like his father.

“Inuyasha make sure you go to the bathroom before we go.” Kagome called to Inuyasha who was sitting on the couch.
“Kay.” He called back and she could hear his feet softly as he walked in and shut the door. Kagome resumed cleaning the dishes she was working on as she heard the toilet flush and the water run before the door opened. He walked up behind her and reached out to touch her arm and she backed away a little.
“Did you wash your hands?” Kagome questioned. She knew he did, but it was always fun to ask.
“Keh, of course.” He said crossing his arms.
“Good dog.” Kagome smirked and looked back at the dishes. He growled lowly as she smiled. He looked down and got an idea.
“Let me help with these.” He said and put his hands in and pretended to be washing. Kagome eyed him curiously but shrugged it off, bad idea. When she wasn't paying attention he grabbed a glass still full of soapy water and poured it all over her head. Kagome gasped and just stood still in shock as Inuyasha laughed.
“Oh you are dead!” She yelled grabbing the hose and turning it on spraying him.
“HEY!” He laughed reaching for it to stop it and hiding his face from the spray. He finally got her backed against the counter and got it away and started spraying her. She screamed blocking it from her face. She dipped her hand in the water and splashed him with it and he tried to stop her letting the hose drop and grabbed her hands holding them and pouring soap all over her and on the floor apparently because as soon as she pushed him a little they both slipped on the slick soapy ground laughing, the water from the hose still flowing out. Kagome got up off Inuyasha turing it off and setting it in the sink looking back at Inuyasha.
“Well that was fun.” Kagome said wiping back her soap covered hair. And trying to ring out some water out of the white shirt now stained with spots of blue dawn.
“Yes, very much so.” Inuyasha agreed ringing out his long hair.
“Well, its your fault.” Kagome smirked.
“Hey, you said the good dog thing alright you started it.” He said leaning against the wall ringing out his shirt.
“Whatever.” She said walking to the closet to get the mop. When she returned she found him shirt in sink and muscles clear for all to see, not that it was bad. Far from it actually. She must have been staring cause next thing she knew he was laughing.
“Like what you see babe?” He smirked. Kagome snapped out.
“On the contrary I was just thinking how fat you had gotten.” Kagome smirked back and started mopping. One firm hand came around her upper arm and the other took the mop out of her hands setting it aside. She watched his hand afraid to look in his face. He grabbed her other bicep gently yet firm pulling her against his chest. She slowly looked up meeting his gaze and stopped breathing.
“And yet you still can't resist me can you?” He smirked. Kagome slowly shook her head.
“I can't resist what I love.” She whispered and watched him smile down at her.
“I love you too Kagome.” He whispered gently against her lips before claiming them, like he had done so many other times.
~~~~*FB END*~~~~
She sighed heavily and shook her head walking out just in time to see Kin coming out sleeves pushed up. Hands still wet from washing them. She chuckled lightly and went back into the bathroom getting the towel and drying his hands.
“There.” Kagome grunted getting up and throwing the towel back on the counter. She looked back at Kin who had his arms up and chuckled picking him up and walking over to the door and picking up her keys and his bag before leaving to her work.
It was exceptionally busy today, especially with all of the sales going on. From the time she arrived at six until quitting time, eight o'clock, she had been on her feet the entire time. Kin was already passed out in his car seat as they headed home where they were to meet her neighbor and she could go out to meet Kouga for dinner. She sighed looking in the mirror at Kin as the lights passed over Kin's small form. `Tonight I tell him… But that's not what worries me. I can live without him, but what if we decide to live together? Kin has already met his dad, how will he take to Kouga?' Kagome thought and turned her attention to the long road ahead of her… Of them both.
