Inuyasha had come over to Kagome's apartment, just as they had discussed the night before. She had already been home from the shrine for a half hour, and she had ordered them pizza. They sat, talking, joking around as they always did. Things did not seem that much different from normal.

Kagome finished cleaning up the kitchen, when Inuyasha suggested they watch TV. He sprawled out on her couch, taking up most of the space. Kagome plopped down on his lap as more of a joke than anything did and then she blushed profusely, realizing what she had done.

Inuyasha blushed as well but he put a hand on her shoulder gently. "It's ok. Might be more comfortable like this anyway."

Inuyasha relaxed allowing Kagome to settle against him and wrapping an arm around her waist. He hoped that she could not feel how fast his heart was beating now. He took a couple deep breaths trying to calm it without much luck. "Uh...anything you wanted to watch?” He asked trying to break the awkward silence.

"Er... Spike TV?" she asked.

Inuyasha smiled slightly at this. "Works for me.” He flipped it to the channel. "Looked like a UFC fight.” He kicked his sneakers off. "Figured you wouldn't want my dirty shoes on your couch,” he said in explanation to his action. "That and I really don't like shoes,” he muttered under his breath.

"Nope, and I don't want mine on the couch either," she said, kicking off her shoes and letting them drop next to his sneakers.

He watched the fight with half interest for a few minutes, trying to concentrate on that rather than the girl in his arms. What about her made him so awkward? 'I don't want to mess this up.’ he realized. He discovered after a few minutes of breathing in the scent of her shampoo and perfume that he was looking at her rather than the TV and he was glad that she faced away from him. He blushed and turned back to the TV.

Kagome could sense that Inuyasha was as nervous as she was and relaxed in his arms with that knowledge reassuring her. Somehow, it made her want him even more. All he cared about was pleasing and protecting her, putting her needs first. Rather than trying to impress her with how he could take care of her every need like Hojo had tried to do.

"There's something I wanted to ask you Kagome. You and me...uh...I wanted us to be together ya know. A couple I guess. That is, if that's what you want," He said nervously.

"I want it, Inuyasha, more than you realize," Kagome said softly, blushing. "I've always been by your side as a friend. Now I want more..."

He turned her head slightly meeting her eyes. "Are you sure? I'm not human...I'm not a regular guy..."

Kagome glanced back into his amber eyes, and then pushed his hair back. "Well DUH..." she said softly.
"I want you, every fluffy eared inch of you."
Inuyasha could not help but laugh. "Fluffy ears huh? Good. Cause you’re stuck with me,” he said touching her cheek. He pulled her closer, touching his lips to hers for a moment before pulling back to look at her.

Kagome blushed profusely as she felt the touch of his lips, electricity seeming to shoot over every square inch of her body. Her body tingled, feeling the energy of his spirit. Not looking away, she caressed his cheek then tentatively touched one of his furry ears.

Inuyasha felt his ear twitch under her fingertips and inhales sharply at the sensation. He felt a shudder go through him, though not a bad one, and leaned into her hand.

"Is this okay to touch you here?" she asked softly.

Inuyasha nodded. "Kind of a new sensation that's all..."

Kagome rubbed his ear more substantially this time, marveling how soft the fur was. It was pale white in color like the hair on his head, and the ears are very warm.
Her dark eyes fix into his gold ones, drowning in their intensity.

Inuyasha's body relaxed under Kagome's touch until he realized his body was definitely starting to react. He shifted uncomfortably, happy for a moment that he was wearing some very baggy jeans. His hand reached up to run through her soft hair, feeling the texture of it, that it is much softer and silkier than his own is.

Kagome's fingers burrowed into his hair all of a sudden, as she angled her face towards his and shoved her lips against his. Inuyasha's eyes widened for a moment, before he relaxed and deepened the kiss, his one arm pulling her closer by the waist, his other hand tangling in her hair. Kagome enjoyed the feel of his hot breath inside her mouth, sighing as Inuyasha relaxed against her. Pressing tightly against him, she gave herself fully to his kisses and touches.

Inuyasha bit back a groan at the feel of her body against his. He gently nipped her bottom lip before kissing her again.  Kagome completely trusted him, and nipped his lip this time to show him. His sharp fangs she avoided carefully, feeling his muscles hard and firm against her soft curves.

Inuyasha ran a hand down her body, avoiding certain areas, not sure how far she wanted to take this. He was breathing heavily at this point. He broke the kiss, gently nipping and kissing along her jaw line and neck. Kagome gasped and shivered as he did that, wishing Inuyasha would be bolder. She grasped his hand and tried to move it to one of her breasts to show him she trusted him.

Inuyasha felt her hand push his to her breast and smiled at this, his question answered. He gently squeezed, nipping down to her collarbone. He pulled her closer onto his lap so that he is at a better angle. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder and rubbing his back with firm strokes to pet his muscles. As she continued to enjoy this development, she suddenly heard a trilling phone.

"Damn it," Inuyasha growled, pulling the cell phone from his pocket and throwing it onto the table next to him. "I'm ignoring it,” he said as the phone stopped ringing. He kissed her collarbone again, starting to move lower when the phone rang for the second time.

"Damn it," Kagome growled. "Stupid pain in the ass phone!"

"They're just going to keep calling... I'm sorry,” he said looking at her and grabbing the phone.
He leaned back against the couch, pulling Kagome down along with him and tries to calm his pounding heart and breathing before he flipped the phone open without looking at the caller ID. "This better be damn good,” he answered

"Hello! Am I interrupting anything?" came the slight laugh. "Sango's got something she needs your approval on and had me call..."

"It can't wait till later?” he snarled, still out of breath. "Why didn't she call me?” He rubbed his hand along Kagome's back gently.

"You're breathing pretty heavily... I wait...whoops; sorry I'll call back later. You're busy," came the answer. Miroku's mind put two and two together.

"Hey genius, you already killed the moment. Don't make me come over there and beat it out of you...what do you want?"

"Sango well... she um... well... wanted to take some time off to go on a case... someone's asked her to hunt down a person embezzling money.... and well..." Miroku trailed off. "It's a bounty hunting job."

Inuyasha sighed. "Ok. Does she just need the time or does she need help?” Inuyasha asked his mind still on Kagome rather than the phone call. His hand had gone under her shirt a bit and he gently traced circles on her lower back.

"She just needs the time. Someone working for the Soounga Corporation wants to pin down an employee that went missing with 2 million dollars. They think he fled to Mexico..."

"Tell her to take the time she needs and to be careful. Soounga Corp is not something to take lightly. Is that it?"

"This same person also embezzled money from the Tenseiga Corporation. There was an insider accomplice that is still working there you can use as a possible lead to pin down his location."

This peaked his interest. "Any clue who it is?” He looked down at Kagome and mouthed ' sorry' to her.

Kagome nodded knowingly. "I understand," she mouthed back.

"Their name was Ayame," he trailed off.

"Shit. She's already in deep water with Sesshoumaru. How the hell do we get her to talk?"

"There is also involvement on Koga's part," said Miroku quietly.

"The employee who's gone missing is named Ginta."

Inuyasha let out another sigh. "I'll clue Sessh in on this. He might be able to get something out of Ayame. I'll handle Kouga. He and I used to spar at the doujo occasionally. He won't think anything of it if I invite him over. I might be able to get something out of him. "

"Good. I'm sorry this is personal, but I figured you should know..." Miroku said apologetically.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha with big eyes. It sounded like an important mission. Inuyasha brushed a hand over Kagome's cheek. "I'm glad you told me. If you don't mind, I'll work on it first thing. You interrupted something, remember?” Inuyasha added with a slight growl, though he knows Miroku would recognize the tone as more of a joking one.

"Okay no problem," said Miroku. "Take care!"

"Same. Give Sango my best,” he answered, flipping the phone shut and laying it on the table. “Sorry bout that..."

Kagome looked at him fondly. "It's okay. It’s not like we can't do this again," she purred as she leaned over and kissed him firmly for a full minute.

"Mmm hmmm,” Inuyasha agreed, kissing her back, pulling her tight against him. Kagome pulled away from him and laid her head on his chest, content to just relax against him for a moment.

Inuyasha felt himself wanting more, but he did not want to push Kagome. After a few minutes, it became obvious to him that Kagome had actually fallen asleep. She looked so peaceful laying there against his chest, her chest rising and falling slowly in her sleep. He was almost tempted to lay there and go to sleep with her but thought better of it. They had just become official that night and the last thing he wanted to do was have an awkward conversation with her the next morning.

Inuyasha stood with a sigh and carried her to her bedroom. He tucked the sleeping woman into her bed and walked back into the living room. He spent a few minutes tidying things up before writing Kagome a note that he would call her in the morning. With that, he slipped out of her apartment, smiling as he walked home.

As he reached his own apartment, he made a mental note to check with a few of his contacts the next morning. He would call Kouga first thing and have a chat with him.

He sat down at his desk, writing a list of things he would check into. He needed to play it smart and get all the information before going and seeing Sesshoumaru the next day. It was too late to do anything tonight, he was sure.

Inuyasha did not often get involved in Sango's cases, but as Miroku had pointed out, this one was personal. He had in the past helped Sango out with cases and he was good at it. So good at it, in fact, that he was actually listed as a part-time employee at the bail bonds and private investigation agency that Sango worked for. Jakotsu, Sango's boss, would team the two of them up on some of the more dangerous cases and occasionally he would call Inuyasha up for some investigations. He knew that Inuyasha's contacts and influence ran deeper than his own did even though Jakotsu himself was youkai.

Inuyasha made a face, hoping that he would not have to deal with Jakotsu at all on this case. The man made his skin crawl more than he liked to admit. It was a great source of amusement to both Sango and Miroku about how Jakotsu really liked Inuyasha. The man was definitely flamboyant and never ceased to stop commenting on one thing or another about Inuyasha.

Inuyasha shook the thought away with another shudder as he finished his notes. He set his alarm and settled down to go to bed. His mind drifted back to Kagome. He really was disappointed that their time had been interrupted earlier but he realized it was probably better that way. He sighed in frustration and stuffed the pillow over his head, falling into a fitful sleep.
