~Inuyasha's point of view~
Naraku has finally been destroyed, every one is celebrating. I should be happy too. But I'm not. I can't be. I have to keep my word to Kikyo, I have to go to hell with her. But, what about Kagome, I don't want to leave her. I don't want to go to hell. I want to stay here with her, i want to kiss her and love her, and make her happy. I want to see her have my pups.
" Great , just great, why can't things ever be simple !!!!!!!!!" He said not realizing he had said it out loud. Suddenly every eye was on him. He saw Kagome look at him with concern in her eyes. Miroku and Sango looked at him with worry. Of course he knew they all knew exactly what was on his mind.
He had to get away from them for a while. He stood up and walked away, he could feel Kagome's eyes on him. He could only hope she didn't come after him, but he knew she would.
He was walking up to the near by stream, he took of his clothes, only leaving his pants on. He got into the water. He was floating around trying not to think of anything, he could smell her coming closer to him, he could also smell the salt from the tears she had shed recently. God but he hated to make her cry, he had done it so many times, he should be used to it by now, it seemed like that was all he could do with Kagome, make her cry, And he hated it.
" Inuyasha???!!!!!! " Kagome said quietly. " Are you ok??? " She finished asking knowing very well he wasn't.
" FEH! Of course, wench. Why wouldn't i be ok. I defeated Naraku. I'm fine. " He said now getting up and walking through the water to where the rest of his fire-rat was.
HE didn't want to look into her eyes, he would break down if he did. But, he couldn't help it. He looked up into those brown pools, that looked straight at him as if trying to discover what was on his soul. That was all he could take. He fell to his knees, crying openly for the first time since he had thought her dead. He felt Kagome's slender arms around him.
" I want to stay with you Kagome. I don't want to go with Kikyo anymore..................." He said crying into her chest.
" Inuyasha you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Kikyo doesn't deserve anything you do for her. I want you, Inuyasha. I love you. Please, don't leave me behind! " Kagome said now lifting his face so she could see his eyes.
" Kagome.................." He said now holding her like his life depended on it.
" Kagome...... I'll try, I'll try to get her soul to rest peacefully. I'll come back to you. I promise, nothing will make me stay away from you. " He said firmly now pushing her away a little, then finally calming her lips with his own. He kissed for what seemed like the first and last time to him. When he stood back and got up, he could see tears in her eyes again. He caressed her cheek a little then walked away into the darkness of the forest.
~Kagome's point of view~
All i could do was sit there, where he left me. I could still feel the heat of his lips on mine, and all i wanted was to feel that again.
I knew where he was going, he was going to her, to Kikyo.
But, i knew he would be back, he kept his promises.
After what seemed like hours I finally got up and walked back to camp,
Miroku and Sango where waiting for us to come back, I saw the questions in their eyes, but they didn't ask, they didn't need to.
They also knew where he had gone.
" Kagome... Will he be back? " Shippou asked with inocense in his voice.
" Yes, Shippou. He promised me he would be back " I said with confidence.
" Look guys, tomorrow I'm going to my time, just for a little while. I'm coming back. I just wanna spend sometime with my family and everything. " I say with sadness in my voice, a sadness i couldn't escape from.
Not as long as i knew he was out there looking for a woman that wanted to drag him down to hell for something that wasn't his fault. Only he was to stupid to realize that.
That got me angry. I got up and went to my sleeping bag. I felt Shippou curl up to me, and fell asleep like that.
In the morning, I left Miroku, Sango, and Shippou with Kaede. I walked over to the well, and jumped in.
Never knowing that this would be the last time i would see the Feudal Era.
