Another songfic, I felt inspired twice in the same night, cool huh? You might recognize these names from Hearts of the Lost. Anyway, enjoy!

"Kirara!" The brown eyed woman called out. "Come quick! Akio's baby had a baby!" She was obviviously excited at the news of Akio's daughter having a daughter. Kirara wanted to jump for joy but her old bones didn't allow it. Instead the older woman picked the two tail up in her warm arms.

"She moves slower now." Akio stood behind the woman that held the cat close.

Hold up
hold on
don't be scared
you'll never change whats been and gone

Kirara sighed in the woman's arms, she hadn't even transformed in years. She never had the need, after the death of that evil hanyou her dear ward fought things settled as she and her monk began breed and bringing more charges into the world. Kirara didn't mind, she loved that family for many years, even back before the days of the sacred jewel. She remebered the smiles of her ward and the tears of the younger ward who died and then lived again, thanks to the youkai that the neko didn't trust until he brought the young boy back to life for her precious.

may your smile (may your smile)
shine on (shine on)
don't be scared (don't be scared)
your destiny may keep you warm

the woman who held the neko smiled sadly.

"She's getting old, but she will stay will us, won't she Akio?" The woman asked worriedly.

"I don't know Sister." Akio said softly. "Kirara? Will you see the new baby, before...?" Akio trailed off, he didn't want to worry his younger Sister who wasn't so young anymore, just like him. Kirara stayed with them, and cared for them and all of their Brothers and Sisters. But he knew in his heart that the neko was just waiting for her time now, she was waiting till she knew that they would be okay, then she could join his parents.

Kirara mewed her assurance and the woman who held her, the woman who so resembled before beloved taijiya held her closer. "Kirara, it isn't time yet." She murmered. Kirara wanted to sigh and tell her that everything would be alright. But she could only nuzzle the girl's nose. "Come on Kirara, let's go." She said as she took the two tail to the new baby.

Kirara looked around the crowded home, the home she shared with the growing family among the years. The children that used to chase her and pull her tails, the children that she kept warm at night when they were sick where all grown up. She was so tired and all she wanted was sleep, in her dreams she traveled again with her group. With the hanyou and miko and the kitsune she called friend. They weren't around anymore and the last she saw of them, was when the taijiya took her final breath. Kirara stayed by the grave for days until she sensed the Monk following his wife to the afterlife.

"Kirara, please make sure everyone is okay before you follow. I know Sango would want that." The old monk said. Kirara cried for her family, humans die, it happens. But this was different. They had been through so much together, they should all be together again. Kirara loved to laugh at the antics of the group and she dared to say that she missed them all.

get up (get up)
come on (come on)
why're you scared? (i'm not scared)
you'll never change
whats been and gone

Kirara didn't know what would lie ahead of her, she was demon afterall and no matter who much she wanted to believe she would see her again, she still had her doubts, she wondered if that's really what held her back.

"Kirara?" The woman who held her spoke up. "We all decided to name the Baby. We named her after you." Kirara looked up in surprise, then looked down on the bundle that squirmed in the arms of Akio's daughter. The girl had dark brown hair and amazing blue eyes, immediatly the baby didn't disappoint and reached for Kirara's swinging tails.

'No, it isn't fear that keeps me here.' She thought to herself.

"Himawari-obasama?" The new Mother addressed the woman hold the neko. "Do you think she likes the name?"

Himawari held her dear friend close. "Yes, I know she does." Himawari looked down and noticed Kirara growning still. 'You just wanted to see the baby just once, didn't you?' Himawari thought to herself. "Akio, I think I'll take Kirara to see Mother, she's probably exicted to tell her about the new baby." Himawari gave him a sad smile and he gave her a knowing nod. Himawari allowed Kirara another tired look around the room at the smiling faces. Then Himawari took her to her parents graves.

Himawari walked slowly to the graves, taking in Kirara's purrs and warmth. They always close, when her Mother had to raise six children Kirara become closer to the first born daughter, that girl was Himawari. Snd the woman who so resembled her Mother knew the time had come to say goodbye.

"I wish you could stay with us, Kirara." Himawari whispered softly. "But I know, Mother misses you, just like I will."
Kirara slowly looked up and hoped that Himawari knew she was smiling. She must have because the human woman smiled back. finally they reached the graves and Himawari knelt down in front of her Mother's.

"Well we're here Mama." Himawari smiled sadly. "Guess what? Nami had her first daughter and we all helped to name, her. We called her Kirara, are you proud of us? I hope so. You should of saw, little Kirara nearly pulled our little friends tail right off! Kirara didn't mind though." Himawari felt a tear escape her eye. "I think, were okay. I think she wants to come home." Himawari looked down on the still two tail in her arms she almost couldn't detect her faint heartbeat. Carefully she laid Kirara down on the grave and said a silent prayer that by some miracle, Kirara could stay.

Kirara squinted at the sudden bright light that stood before her. After adjusting her eyes she saw the taijiya sitting on the grave marker. She was smiling and young, just like he was when they traveled together all those years ago. She wore her traveling kimono and held an umbrella in her hand to shade herself from the sun. She held out her hand and Kirara felt weightless as she jumped into her waiting arms.

"I've missed you Sango." Kirara spoke silent words.

"I've missed you too, Kirara." Sango returned the silent sentiment. "Are you ready?"

Kirara looked back at the still praying girl who was oblivious to the spirits that were before her. "Just a moment." Kirara reluctantly jumped from Sango's arms to Himawari's shoulder. Himawari thought she felt a warmth against her cheek and purrs of happiness in her ears but Kirara was lying on the ground motionless. Himawari gasped when she touched the still body.

Sango watched with tearful eyes as her daughter held the dead neko close. Sango looked at her long time friend and asked. "What did you tell her?"

Kirara smiled softly. "I told her...

we're all of us stars
we're fading away
just try not to worry
you'll see us some day
just take what you need
and be on your way
and stop crying your heart out
stop crying your heart out
stop crying your heart out

Sango smiled and held Kirara close. "Thank you for waiting for them, Kirara. Let's go." Then Sango and Kirara were gone to become the stars.

I wrote this because I don't see much Kirara and Sango fics. This takes place years after Hearts of the Lost and it looks at the life of Kirara and her Family. I hope you enjoyed it, It's dedicated to my own Cat, Foxxy who I love very much and would never forget her if she went away. but try to stick around a lot longer old lady!
