When Worlds Collide
Chapter 2: What A Mess

"What's wrong Kaede-sama," Kagome asked the woman in concern.
"I sense another presence near my village. It appears that this person came from yer time Kagome."
"That's impossible Kaede. No one can pass without a Shikon shard," Kagome replied.
"Did you check to see how many shards you have," Sango asked.
Kagome looked in her bag for the two shards that they had found a few days earlier. They were nowhere to be found. There was a hole in her bag as well.
"The shards are gone!"
Kagome then had a flashback. She had hit Jaxon really hard.
"Oh no, Jaxon must have them."
"Who is Jaxon," Inu-Yasha demanded.
"She's a girl I know from school. She lives next door to me. She must have found the jewels and followed me to try to give them back."
"Then let us go find her," Kaede said as she rose.
Inu-Yasha stepped outside first. He sniffed the air for any unfamiliar smells that surrounded Kaede's village. He found one that disturbed him and followed it. He jumped through a brush and landed in front of a girl that looked Kagome's age. She screamed.

I saw the boy in the red come out of the hut followed by some concerned people. He looked around and then seemed to walk in my direction.
Onigai Kami-sama, don't let him find me.
Just as I thought this, he jumped through the brush and landed in front of me. In fright, I screamed.

Baka girl, she just had to scream.
I clamped a hand over her mouth to muffle her scream. I heard the others approach the bush.
"Inu-Yasha, sit!"
I fell towards the ground. Baka women.

Jaxon had stopped her screaming to look at a face planted Inu-Yasha. Kagome came through the brush and stared at her.
"Jaxon what are you doing her?"
"Looking for you. You dropped these and I came to give them back. What is this place," Jaxon asked as she handed Kagome the jewels.
"This is the Japan of the past. We're in the Sengoku Jidai Era."
"The era of the warring states. How is that possible Kagome?"
"With the help of these shards and the well, we can travel back and forth from one time to the next."
"So the shards are our only ticket out of here."
"Yes."
Jaxon pondered the situation for a moment.
Maybe Kagome will let me come with her. My uncle won't care and I can always tell Neko that I wasn't feeling good.
"I wouldn't mind learning more about this era," Jaxon said breaking the silence.
"No, I won't have any more humans ruining my life," Inu-Yasha said as he slowly rose off of the ground.
Jaxon got a good look at his face. He had golden eyes that reminded her of a cat. His teeth were clenched but she could visibly see fangs and on his hands were claws. Jaxon saw something move on his head and then noticed that he had dog-like ears on the top of his mane of silver hair. Jaxon thought that they were so cute and she wanted to touch them, but didn't dare since one, he was angry and two, she didn't know what he was or where he had been.
"Sit!"
Thud
"Ignore him. He grows on you eventually," Kagome said.
"Why does he fall down when you say sit?"
"It's a curse that he deserved. The prayer beads around his neck help to control him. When I say the word he falls. It's a way to discipline him."
"Who are these people? Some of them don't even look human."
"This is Miroku, Sango, and Kaede. They are all human. Shippou and Kilala are youkai. Inu-Yasha is hanyou."
"How is that possible? Demons don't exist in our time."
"They were all destroyed by our time as far as we know. I thought that I was in a bad dream when I came here, but after a while you get use to it."
"Kagome, what are you going to do about yer friend," Kaede asked.
"Well she said she wanted to learn more about this place. I guess I'll just take her back when I go back."
"Feh, you know that she'll be a target for youkai," Inu-Yasha mumbled.
"That's why we have you on lookout. You can protect her like you do us," Shippou said.
Inu-Yasha scowled at the kitsune. He didn't like the idea. Jaxon would be a prime target of Naraku and he also sensed Sesshoumaru nearby. His half-brother strongly disliked humans although he let a small girl name Rin travel with him. Jaxon posed more of a problem than the others realized. He just had to be extra careful and make sure that neither could get an attack on any of his friends or Jaxon.

Naraku looked through the mirror Kanna held. This girl that came from the future like the shard detector intrigued him. He sent Kagura and Kanna away so that he could think more about the girl.
She will be the weak link I've been waiting for. Now all I need to do is wait for an opportunity to present itself and the shards that the hanyou holds will be mine.

Sesshoumaru watched his half-brother slump in the tree. He knew that his brother was angry that the shard detector that he was protecting offered the girl a chance to stay in this time instead of going back to her own. She interested him. There was something about her that he couldn't quite place. He would have to talk to this woman and find out what he could from her. She would probably be his greatest asset to getting his hands on the sword that belonged to him. He returned to where he left Jakken with Rin. They then turned to find shelter before nightfall.
I will talk to her tonight and no one will stop me. Not even my hanyou half-brother.
