The ex-monk whirled on him, hands balling into fists. "Just because you've done this a dozen times doesn't mean that you have to belittle my anxiety when this is my first-"

He broke off and turned to stare at Kaede as she stepped out onto the porch. Smiling, she deposited a tiny blanket-wrapped bundle into Miroku's shaking hands.

"Congratulations! You're a father!"
