AN/ Kikyo just doesn't get enough positive attention. I'm tired of seeing her bashed. This is my first attempt at poetry.

Winter Lies Before Me

From the eyes of Kikyo

Like the summer was our love.

Long ago when the sun still shone

Across our open hearts.

When gold was my morning,

And silver was my night.

The heavenly bodies quivered,

And I held you in my eyes.

 

 

Never was a glance

More like a caress,

Than when you and I

Stole away through the night.

Escaped the knowing glares,

And disapproving murmurs.

For a summer, we were free.

 

 

Swiftly did winter come for us.

Turned warm whispers of our future

Into cold silence.

Claws tore and words scarred.

My sun turned from me,

And my moon faded.

All was silent for a long while.

 

 

Snow fell over our still hearts,

Hid the red stains

Beneath a blanket of blinding white.

Somewhere flowers blossomed,

Rain pattered on sun-drenched roofs.

But we remained frozen

And forgotten.

 

 

The sun rose for you again.

She came in blue and green,

Like the summer skies

And the warm spring grasses.

Dusted the snow from your heart.

Melted the ice in your eyes.

Pulled my imprisonment from your chest.

 

 

Bitter winds still blow;

Unable to live,

Unable to die.

I am left to watch you bloom once more

In the light that is not my own,

With eyes that are not my own.

Winter lies before me.
