Rin knew she was in trouble and she tried to make herself as small as possable as she sat on her futon with her knees tucked under her chin. Sesshoumaru had desposited her there the moment he entered the castle it seemed. Now he was staring out her window, watching the rain but not realing seeing it.

Now that she was well enough, Sesshoumaru's anger at her had returned. His face was as stockic as ever but Rin could read his moods and he was angry. Naturally, she wanted to say something in her defense but she wisely kept her mouth shut. It was probably the smartest thing she had done all week.

Sesshoumaru absentmindly tapped his finger on the windowsill, thinking of the past days' events that had brought them to this point. To say he was angery was an understatement. He was furious with Rin for disobeying his orders and nearly getting herself killed. The only reason he controlled his anger for the past three days was do to her fragile state and becasue he didn't want the wolf pack to listen in on their conversation. This was a private matter between father and daughter.

"You're sensie quit," Sesshoumaru started. Slowly, he turned so he could watch her face. She was watching him. She hugged herself like a small child and she was looking at him with solumn eyes. He wasn't going to fall for it.

"Why did you disobey me, Rin?"

Rin did not answer but quickly looked away. His low growl startled her into looking back. He wasn't hiding his anger now. He was glaring at her like he sometimes did Jaken. Angered by that, Rin straightened her spine.

"What did you expect," Rin defended. "You grounded me to the castle grounds for no reason and the rain has kept me indoors for the past week. I wanted out."

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed to dangerous slits that would have caused anyone to back away in fear but Rin kept her chin held proud and she met his glare with one of her own. She was walking on dangerous ground and she kenw it but she was his daughter and wasn't going to back down from a fight.

"There was a reason for you being ordered to stay on the castle grounds. A whole pack of them to be in fact."

"You said yourself that they were no threat."

"No threat to me but to a human child, they are dangerous."

"They didn't seem dangerouse to me. Saving my life and all."

"You seem to forget it was wolves that killed you all that time ago."

"Koga's pack. Not them."

"Strangers from a strange land. There was no telling what they would think of a human child. Someone in need of protecting or an easy meal."

"Will you stop thinking about me like I'm a child." Rin snapped. "I am thriteen years If I was still living with the humans I would have at least one suitor or my father would be arranging my marriage."

"But you are not living with them, you're living with me." His anger was growing and he had to get away or do something he would regret. Sesshoumaru straightened from the wall and walked to the door. He paused when he reached it. "You are suspended to the castle until I say otherwise and Jaken will be taken over your tutoring."

Rage filled Rin's eyes and the mention of her suspension.

"You can't do that. I did nothing wrong."

"You disobeyed me and you will suffer the consequences. If you were one of me servents or subjects I would either kill or banish you. Be thankful that this is all I'm doing."

"But-"

"If you continue the matter, you will be suspended to your room instead."

Rin was shaking in anger, tears filled her eyes, and she bit her lip until it bleed but she her mouth shut as Sesshoumaru walked out of the room. It was then that she surrendered to sobs. Sesshoumaru had never punished her like this before. He had sent her to bed without dinner a couple of times but never had she been punished to this extreme. She honestly felt that she did nothing wrong and to be punished in the worst extreme she could imagine, it hurt. Choking on her sobs, Rin curled up on her side and cried into her pillow.

Sesshoumaru listened to the sobs but steeled himself against them. Whether she liked it or not, he was not going to lesson her punishment. Shaking in anger and pain, Sesshoumaru walked down the hall, following Jaken's sent. He found him in the kitchen giving orders about the evening meal and was ordering on having some of it brought up to Rin.

Jaken sqwaked when he noticed Sesshoumaru and both he and the servents lowered themself to the floor to bow to him in respect.

"Lord Sesshoumaru, to what do we owe this honor?" Jaken asked.

"Follow Jaken." Sesshoumaru ordered and turned to leave.

He heard Jaken's suffleing feet behind him as he led him through the hall, franticlly trying to keep up. Sesshoumaru noticed that anger had caused him to quicken his step and he forced himself to calm down. He wouldn't let a human adolestent break his control.

When they were outside, Sesshouarmu took a deep breath of the wet air. It helped releave the tension building inside him for the past three days.

"I am going on patrol," Sesshoumaru stated. "You are in charge of my estate until I return and you are to continue Rin's studies starting tomorrow. If she is still not feeling well, have them done in her room."

Jaken was hurt that he wasn't being taken along has he had been so many times in the past but he understood the reasons. One of them being a hotheaded teenager whose tears could be smelt even in the rain. Without his usual sqwak of complant, he looked up at Sesshoumaru.

"When can we expect your return, my lord?" he asked.

"Expect nothing Jaken. I'll return when my duty is complete and whenever I feel like it."

Jaken took a step back at the anger in Sesshoumaru's voice and watched him dissappear into the woods. Things were going to get interesting around here. He had no objections to tutouring Rin but if she rebeled against Sesshoumaru on a regular bases, how was she going to act toward him? Taka was also starting to get restless, a sign that she was getting ready to hunt. If Sesshoumaru didn't return before then he would have a few missing servents, himself included since Taka had no liking for him but she did like the material he gave her a few years back and if she remembered, she just might spare him. Jaken doubted it. Sighing to himself, Jaken turned and entered the home. He would have to go over Seiji's notes and see how far along Rin was in her lessons and prepare for tomorrows, as well as complete a list of chores for the servents. At that moment a young servent passed him and dropped the bucket of water she had been carrying. Jaken's eyes raised to the heveans as he wondered what he did to diserve this.

Weeks Later~

"Tell me again, why are we doing this?" Alban asked Cory as they followed Morgan deeper into the forest.

The three had left the cave just yesterday when Morgan sensed her heat cycle was approaching. Not that she had to warn them, all the unrelated males had noticed the changing of scent and had grown restless as they either waited or tried to resist. Not wanting to be bound to an "instinct driven, muscle bound idiot" as Morgan called most of the males in the pack, or wanting to become a mother when she knew she wasn't ready, they had left. Morgan to protect her innocence, the other two to make sure she succeeded.

It was a task they had come to expect every year but that didn't mean they had to like it. It was only fear of the beatings they would get from their fathers or Morgan if she failed, that made them go without resistance, only with grumbles and complants.

"Because if we don't, they'll kill us," Cory responded, his arms crossed over his chest, stones as he followed and wondering where she was leading them this time.

"And why exactly is that a bad thing?"

Cory looked to his cousin and noticed that he was still rubbing the sore spot Morgan had given him just that morning. The moods of bitches in heat always varied. From sweet and seductive, to moody and violent. Unfourtunately for them, Morgan was the later.

"It's your own fault."

"What did I do? All I did was tell her to get her fat ass up."

Cory rolled his eyes and shook his head as he wondered why he was cursed with an cousin.

"Think about what you just said."

"What about it?"

"You called her fat you morron."

Alban paled.

"Shit."

Cory smirked and quickened his pace. He loved Alban like his own brother but sometimes the guy was clueless. He most have gotten it from his mother's side because the rest of the family was usually quick to think before making stupid mistakes.

With Alban now silent beside him, Cory turned it attention back on the woman in front of him and on the surrounding forest. The rain had stopped a few days ago and everthing still smelled fresh and clean. It was a welcoming scent if he ignored the scent Morgan was giving off. A heat scent drove the males crazy, himself included but he was blood related therefore uneffected my Morgan's scent. Now it was more of an annoyance than anything.

They were approaching a small lake. Cory wondered if that was what Morgan was heading for. Like human's blood cycles, a bitch's heat was uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Bathing helped relaxe the pain away and Morgan might want that since she was at the beginning of hers, which was usually the worst for her. But she was walking past it. A good source of fresh, relaxing water and she was walking past it.

Cory couldn't help but start to growl. They had been walking for hours and he wanted to stop.

"Will you two stop complaining and hurry up," Morgan called from up ahead, looking over her shoulder at Cory.

"We would if we knew where we were going," Cory growled.

Morgan stopped and turned to face her cousin. Cory inwardly cringed at the fire in her eyes. And he had just lectured Alban on this. Aparently, it did run in the family.

"Listen here you over grown flea bag. I didn't ask you to come along," Morgan growled. "I'm quite content on my own."

Alban snorted. "The last time you were on your own during your heat, you wondered into another pack's territory and came running all the way back with them right on your heals." Alban laughed. "What amazes me that it was a four day walk and you made it back in a few hours."

"That does it. Your dead."

Morgan lunged at Alban and the two started wrestling on the ground. Cory watched and sighed. He was hoping that the week would go without a fight but Alban's stupidity had ruined that plan. Fortunately, it meant a break for him as long as bloodshed was minimal.

Walking to one of the trees that hugged the bank of the lake, Cory leaned against it as he watched his cousins. Maybe this would burn off some of Morgan's sexual frustration. Cory could sympathize with her. He had to fight his own instincts to mate every time a female decided to stay with the pack when she was in heat in the hopes of tagging a mate. None of them Cory wanted and he had to fight his body every time. Usually he just left for the majority of the day, only returning for the hunt and he always took his meal into the forest but once he caught scent of the heat cycle, he was wanting it until the cycle ended. He finially got it down to clock work when each female would hit and he had another twenty years before the newest female hit her first. So he was frustration free for the past fifteen years. Not counting annoying frustration of course, he thought as Alban slammed into a tree.

Cory shook his head in amusement. Alban was a excelent hunter but when it came to fighting, Brennan was better than him. Morgan didn't give her brother a chance to recover when she attacked him again.

This fight was going to take too long and one of them was going to get seriously hurt, Cory realized when he watched Alban twist Morgan's arm in an attempt to force her to submit. She kneed him in the groin instead.

Cruising his rotten luck, Cory took a deep breath and froze. On the ground before him, Morgan did as well.

Sesshoumaru was near by and was heading straight for them. Either he had gotten wiff Morgan's scent and was unable to resist or he was investigating. Cory prayed that it was the later but it was better safe than sorry.

Morgan could smell Sesshoumaru and her body was instintly torn on whether to run to him or away from him. Her body was screaming toward him. After all, he was a fine looking, very strong, and very intelengent speicemen of a male that would do well in protecting and supporting her and her future pups but her mind was screaming to run the other way. She wasn't ready for motherhood and nor did she want to be bound by instinct. She wanted to be bound by love. But instinct was winning as Sesshoumaru got closer.

Red had started to seep into her eyes as her blood burned with the drive to mate but it was rudely cooled when she was thrown in the lake.

Sesshoumaru's brows rose when he heard the scream of shocked outrage and after clearing the trees, he could see why. Morgan was sitting in the lake, curled forward in an attempt to hide her body that had been reveled by clinging clothes and promising retribution with her eyes. That look disappeared when she saw him and sunk further into the water and a blush stained her cheeks.

Sesshoumaru studied her closer. He could smell that she was in heat but the water dulled it to a barable level but if he had known before arriving, he would have gone the other way but luck had put them down wind of him. The only reason he was drawn to this area was do to the sound of a fight.

She looked both tempting and innocent hudled in the water with thedark tendrils of red hair had escaped her braid and were now clinging to her face and the blush tinted her cheeks and made the slight frekles on her nose stand out. When she had lowered herself he was able to see part of her marking stretching out over her shoulder and down her front before being hiden by tan cloth. It looked like a tree branch.

The two males that were with her, stepped in front of her, blocking Sesshoumaru's view. Both were related. One looking stariling like her only with male features and with cuts and bruises all over his face. "Italic" means spoken Gaelic)

"Lord Sesshoumaru, this is a surprise," Cory greeted. He was nervous but he kept himself calm as he faced the lord.

"This is great," Alban mumbled beside him, "What are we going to do if he attacks?"

"The only thing we can do,"
Cory answered. "Stand aside and let him take her."

"You do that and I swear I'll string you both up by your tails."

Alban smiled before looking over his shoulder at his sister.

"But little sister, you'll be too busy. "

Morgan's face turned red from both embaresment and rage but since Lord Sesshoumaru was present, she kept herself from attacking but she was secretly plotting her brothers death.

Sesshoumaru watched with slight intrest. Whatever they had said had pissed the female off to the point of shaking and he could see the humor in her brother's eyes. The other one, looked annoyed and worried.

Curious, he stepped forward.

Both males tensed and the female backed further into the water.

"Why are you away from the cave?" Sesshoumaru asked.

"Because of her, my lord."

"Because of me, my ass. I didn't ask you to come."

Cory growled through his teeth in frustration.

"Be thankful we're here or you'd be pupped already."

Morgan stiffened before smiling. She crossed her arms over her chest which covered herself and straightened.

"I'd love to see you take him on," she sneered. "You'll be dead in five seconds."

"I'm trying to keep this from going in that direction."

"Should I entice him."

"You get us killed and Ena will have your hyde."

"You're no fun,"
Morgan pouted but laughter was still in her eyes.

Before them, Sesshoumaru growled.

"My patience is running thin."

The laughter left Morgan's eyes and was once again replaced with rage.

"Your patience," she snarled. "Well excuse me Great Lord of the Western Lands. But it seems to me that I am the one that's wet and cold and hot all at the same time. Now please leave so I can get out of this damn lake and into some dry clothes."

Both males rose their eyes to the heavens before stepping aside, making a clear path to the female.

"If you want to kill her, go ahead," Cory said.

"Yes, please." Alban added, "Save us the trouble."

Shock was clearly written on Morgans face before she started throwing pepples at "You cowards. You're suppose to be protecting me."

"We're not going to bother if you keep setting yourself up like this. OWW! Damnit, that hurts."

Cory sighed as he dodged another pebble then looked at the lord. Was it him or did he smile?

"Please my lord. We are suppose to protect her from being mated when she isn't ready aswell as protect her from her stupidity." He dodged another pebble. "As you can see, we have our hands full."

Sesshoumaru nodded in understanding.

"Then I will leave but know this, my ward insist on venturing into these woods despite my orders not to. If you see her, return her at once."

In the lake, Morgan laughed.

"You do that and she'll run more and more."

"Dammit woman, don't you know when to shut up!" Cory snapped. Morgan just spat her tongue at him.

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed.

"What do you suggest woman?"

Morgan shrugged. "Let her venture. At least one of us will keep an eye on her and you we wont hurt her."

Sesshoumaru looked to the other two. They looked surprised but didn't object to the idea.

"We shall see." Then he turned and left.

Both Alban and Cory visubly relaxed.

"That was close." Alban stated.

Cory nodded in agreement then blinding pain ran through his body. Next to him, Alban was going through the same thing. It was only for a moment but the moment stunned them enough for them to drop to the ground once the energy released them. Morgan, dripping wet and her hair standing on end stood over them.

"That is for throwing me in the lake," she explained before looking in the direction in which Sesshoumaru left. She couldn't stop thinking about the way he glared at her. Dangerous and sexual at the same time. She hadn't been lying when she said he had a cute butt the last time she saw him but his face wasn't half bad either. Before she knew it, a warmth spread through her blood. Her eyes widdened. The only motion she had time to do before she was once again, in the lake.
